Parliamentary ties key for Taiwan - Taipei Times

Amid China’s attempts to deny international space to Taiwan, evident by the rejection of its application for observer status in the just concluded 75th session of the World Health Assembly (WHA), it augurs well that a high-powered delegation of senior Slovak government officials, led by Slovak National Council Deputy Speaker Milan Laurencik and Bratislava Region President Juraj Droba, is visiting Taiwan.
This is the second delegation Slovakia has sent to Taiwan in six months, after one in December last year. Visits by parliamentary delegations are becoming something of a regular feature in Taiwan.

Taiwan a better Slovak partner: official

Taiwan is a far more important economic partner of Slovakia than China, visiting Slovak National Council Deputy Speaker Milan Laurencik said yesterday.
Laurencik, on the second day of his 10-member delegation’s visit to Taiwan from Sunday until Friday, made the remarks when meeting Premier Su Tseng-chang (蘇貞昌), adding that it was a pleasure to visit Taiwan.
“Taiwan is geographically far from Slovakia, but the two have the same goal of safeguarding democracy,” Laurencik said.
He expressed gratitude to Taiwan for donating 700,000 masks to Slovakia when the COVID-19 pandemic there was at its most serious.

Slovak delegation arrives for exchanges, trade, tech

A delegation of senior Slovak government officials arrived in Taiwan yesterday for a visit aimed at promoting parliamentarian interactions and city-to-city exchanges, as well as bilateral cooperation in economic, trade and technology areas.
Slovak National Council Deputy Speaker Milan Laurencik, who leads the delegation, said on arrival that his country supports Taiwan, and the visit is proof of that.
The delegation was greeted at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Harry Tseng (曾厚仁) and Slovak Representative to Taiwan Martin Podstavek.
