Christmas is for children, it’s been said. But on this day, Christmas Eve, do not neglect the child in you. In the past few days, I’ve found that reflecting on my inner child — which has never really fled my occasionally feverish brain — has led me to feelings of gratitude. And also to a little self-reinvention, memories of childhood holiday seasons, and a vague sense of peace and understanding, with some moments going beyond understanding, a source of gratitude.
