The overall export of oilmeals during April 2020 to March 2021 increased sharply and provisionally reported at 3,680,084 tons compared to 2,433,617 tons during the same period of previous year i.e. up by 51%, a release issued by Solvent Extractors Association (SEA) said.

The Solvent Extractors’ Association of India has compiled the export data for export of oilmeals for the month of March 2021 and provisionally reported at 321,435 tons compared to 177,003 tons in March, 2020; up by 82%. The overall export of oilmeals during April 2020 to March 2021 increased sharply and provisionally reported at 3,680,084 tons compared to 2,433,617 tons during the same period of previous year i.e. up by 51%, a release issued by Solvent Extractors Association (SEA) said. ....

Private Traders Offer Higher Than MSP For Cotton In Punjab On Huge CCI Procurement, Spike In Yarn Rates

Punjab cotton growers are now being offered prices far higher than the MSP by private traders — as high as Rs 5,900 a quintal.
Even as a section of their fellow farmers is protesting against the agricultural reforms brought about by the Narendra Modi government, cotton growers in Punjab are reaping the benefits of the progressive policies that allow them to sell their produce to anyone of their choice anywhere in the country.
Punjab cotton growers are now being offered prices far higher than the minimum support prices (MSP) of Rs 5,515 a quintal fixed by the Union government for this season (July 2020-June 2021) by private traders. ....

Edible oil: Edible oils to remain expensive for next six months due to global volatility in prices


Synopsis
The govt had reduced the import duty on palm oil by 10% in Nov to control the rising edible oil prices. However, it did not help, as exporting countries increased prices as well as the export duties.
Pune: Edible oil prices in India are ruling at all-time highs, driven by high volatility in global prices. Prices have increased by more than 15% in the past one month, and are expected to start softening only in June.
The edible oil industry has demanded that the tariff rate the benchmark import price fixed by the government every 15 days be kept frozen for a few months as a reduction in import duty did not help ease prices. ....
