USDA issues public health alert for canned Spam
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for some Spam cans shipped to Texas due to "under-processing." Where they are: The cans, which were produced on Aug. 17, were shipped to H.E.B. retail locations in Texas. According to the alert, the problem was discovered after Hormel Foods, Spam's maker, “reported that they inadvertently shipped product that may not have been adequately processed to reach commercial sterility.
