Louisville voters renew Open Space and Parks Tax

Louisville voters were largely in favor of renewing the Open Space and Parks Sales tax extension and increase after early results Tuesday. Louisville Ballot Issue 2C was passing with 65.79% voting in favor as of 7:36 p.m. Tuesday. On Jan. 1, 2024, Ballot Issue 2C will increase the open space and parks sales tax to 0.5%, a 0.125% increase from the current 0.375% sales tax. The 0.375% open space and parks sales tax will be extended for another 10 years. The 0.125% will expire in ten years. ....

Columbia business responds to the State of the City address


City Manager John Glascock discussed the state of different government departments.
John Glascock, the city manager, spoke at the State of the City address on Tuesday morning at City Hall.
Glascock said 2021 will be a year of growth.
The city has allotted $1.8 million to help residents with utility and housing payments.
The money will also help local businesses and provide reimbursements for COVID-19 related costs, including the hospitality industry and concert venues.
The co-owner of Addison s, Matt Jemme, said the city has had positive, open dialogue with local businesses.
There s the idea of shared sacrifice where the city would be sacrificing some of its fees that it normally gets from businesses because they are asking us to reduce our hours and capacities that we normally have, Jemme said. ....
