Radio Manchester. Christmas has time for family friends and enjoying the finer a big arena tour and I asked David where the idea to such an ambitious talk came from well it was the idea really that this this story is on a scale because it's about a grandpa and grandson having adventures together the grandpa was a World War 2 fighter race and he's now become confused me thinks he's back in World War 2 and what he wants to do is steal a Spitfire airplane from the Imperial War Museum so we really wanted the show to have as much scale as possible and to do our sort of worried if it was just going to be sourced. One sat in the chair with the arms out pretending that they're flying I felt like really want to do a show which just had an epic sense about it so we're going to have a real life spit fire where there's a real life world war one tank and we have Nigel planer who's one of my comedy heroes he played Neil in the young ones he's playing grandpa I wanted to create a really spectacular family show and David not easy to source a life so he spit fire in tank do people think you are starting a revolution it's not the sort of thing you can go on e Bay for is it no. Way you can make you can make them you can make them so we have built them and and I like kind of just really excited you know Sooners the designers and director was putting the images together and you can see a source Spitfire flying around the arena and thought this is going to be amazing 2nd imagine you're in a rehearsal space at the moment but until he gets that 1st arena when you're in burning in which is where it starts I don't suppose you'll really get to see the scale of this really you know and then the amazing they will be experiencing the story with you know an audience which you which is the most amazing thing as an author because you feel like a magician then looking around and seeing everyone's responses but but I'm really I'm really thrilled and I'm really glad this is taken to you know that this is a unique production I've had to productions of my books before them super proud of but this is really something different because of the scale of it and I think the story really deserves it there was a fantastic t.v. Adaptation a couple of years back with Tom Courtney is Grandpa and Jennifer Saunders she played the matron of the o. People and it was a bit inspired actually by a real story of a World War 2 soldier who escaped from an old people's home to join his old comrades in Normandy because they were having a celebration and you remember this story because it was it was in the news a bit. It was and it really that was that gave me the idea for the story and I thought I could hopefully combine something funny which other. This came from an 0 people home is if it was a prisoner of war camp I thought that could be humorous with something quite serious which is a grandpa lose losing his memory which is always something that does affect lots of kids also kids have grandparents who have become computers and it can be quite difficult thing for them but I thought so a kid is more likely to be able to interact with someone. Probably than a grown up because kids live in the world of imagination and if someone's kind of you know they've drifted back into into their imaginations Somehow I thought like another that could be a special relationship here between the ground. There's more to come from. The program between. The. Radio Manchester you know I think I found the place that I want to spend Christmas based He's incredible I did mention a little bit earlier we were outside the new spa we are now in the mood and it's be you simply decorated there are lights everywhere. Ferns there is an Alpine view and as you can imagine this time of day when the 2 people are indulging get a beverage or 2 the man that owns this is Stanley who is for months and he's had these for 40 years and I can imagine his traveled all over with it with his also is Gilbert's Gilbert's owns the fun house built to go but in a couple of overs time Stanley thank you for inviting us into the new spot that you see is great isn't it thank you very much. We do try our best to entertain the public when they come in here because all the rides are free the attractions are great with the circus the ice rink and this is one place of refuge where you can sit down rest and relax with the family hopefully have a glass of wine in one of our little boats and perhaps have a devil of lager out so we'll talk about your boots in a couple of moments to know I love about this place is all the attention to detail mean all the little things that you got on the walls all of the year the plates and the pictures and so on these just over the years they have been. It's a quest of love really in the main you see something in a shop you think that will go in the bar so you buy it but the man. Day the of the bar is really the my wife but she's not here today because she does the interior design and. I do the manufacturing in the looking after the customers but Debbie my wife does all the interior so you're here obviously for the next few weeks where you the rest of the year. Basically find is that most large agricultural shows County shows their shows. The International Air Show at Fairford. We do a lot of the trip fests with promotions so it's any of the big really big events that you see the really big one that we love to be at is a man just because of market. But we're here in the event city this year but we do believe this event is moving next year to a new venue it's interesting this isn't it because you were saying that it's the case that you have the balls to actually take of the space in Manchester and they don't allow you to go actually set up that yeah it's a weird set of them got there because it is traditionally all the German. People that come over the bars nothing else and the there's not a lot of English traders in the Manchester area you know which seems a little bit strange when we're in Manchester company you know our offices are in Cheatham hill I live in Mountain up a memorandum rates in Manchester and anyway that's life but you've chosen a good place here because I can imagine over the next few weeks we're going to be ready it's good to see already you're so busy Can I talk about your groups this isn't the boots that you're wearing these are the boots that you serve your drinks in which are incredible I've just had the. Chocolate. She'll be singing All I Want For Christmas Is You by 12 o'clock after a couple of drinks of that absolutely. Great idea that come from. We had those boots made a manufactured in China my wife and I Debbie as I mentioned earlier we flew to China for trade show and we seen the boats there and we contacted a chinese supplier and if you look at the boat it's got our. Name our busy. His name on it it's got in an address on there and they're a great little novelty and as well as as well as serving drinks in them or Mendis amount to people because it's a nice little on some of the Christmas Tree of the Assad boat and they're really nice moment over Christmas I love them let's talk a mention that Gilbert lives in Cheatham Hill he owns the phone house I came on Thursday night with my 2 nephews bill but I lost the annual fund house for about an hour it was great I could do with all of them in the back of the alligator you build it yourself yeah building Michel for 30 years ago what is the secret to a good food helps a lot of moving parts. Of the state thank you and they pay to come in and the criminals say thank you here you know you've cracked it so if you go into the house basically you've got to go up some do big stairs which I've mentioned to my 5 year old nephew about 3 hours to do trips. Up the steps there they've been here it. Roll is. All flaws Richard we've gone flip flop boards. I can imagine some parents who got a couple of coupons probably don't realize the floors move. You know the incredible thing about Gilbert's never talk about a huge but. Here is 787 still going strong children. What you can do when you retire. Wired several things I would love to do should we ask out what your television all you could become of. What you see that you love about this you'll be going to for many years 65 years is it yeah I was born in the job. They don't really know what are they gals on there bring everything we want we build bigger to go. On they want to build told several trailers row we want it as less. We joy the life. And the fact that you're both from Manchester this is a big community is it all of very big community yes yes. Well about 7 families. And we don't operate. Like. We don't operate in Manchester no more all of down yes yes but you're here for the next few weeks so it's a bit like home from home isn't it all I able bungalows here intreat to melt. Only a mile from. The Wall. Moving closer to us that's a really good relates to listen to lovely to see the to be got 2 great places in the phone house and thank you for the hot chocolate as well it's delicious lovely thank you very much and I go into conspiracy I'm a big 80 minutes away from. B.b.c. Radio traffic update David Williams on the way in a few minutes time 1st let's get you up to take the latest on the. Thanks Phil m 66 northbound lanes now reopened traffic written to normal after an accident just before junction one out womanly road at Rams bottom and 62 eastbound junction 8 no fuel for hate. Would services tough roads looking slow a round station and heading into town from Penn Kith Sankey ways looking very busy from pain controlled roundabouts see the pink tie around that said heading into town as you've been hearing with Phillips the winter fun land at event city expect delays on routes around the Trafford Center and that will be helped by shopping Chaffee as well London Northwestern revised service who g.t. Plan strike action it's been cancelled because of the short notice the amended timetable remains in place that means no 7. Between Houston and crew. And cancellations to. Strike action. Before you travel if you can a date is cool in 0161900. 80 . Please. Please please. Please please. Please. Just keep. Up the loop. Please. point symbol is going to be noisy Yeah because it's you know it's it's a plane taking off when there's a time when everything but I think if you could still cook you could go a little bit. But I think it's good you know I don't know about you but you know if you're lucky enough to be able to afford to go and see things you know but here Christmas and New Year it's good to get out of the house because you are actually there's a point where you just call look at each other any longer the call of the story of God and you just thinking let's go out and do something that is nice if you can do something together that's the nice thing about about that you know that period is normally there's lots of shows on normally over Christmas on there because you know people are looking for something to do indoors and and it's often the 1st time kids ever get to see anything live so. This will be great introduction and I hopefully I think the best things that are aimed at kids who go to work for the grown ups because the grown ups of course of the ones that decide you know what you're going to see and they and they're the ones that buy the ticket so I hate the idea that the you know the parents are bored and the kids are enjoying themselves so we want to make it but the parents are having as good a time not to my son to something recently on a motor say what it was but I actually fell asleep in Ok. Simon Cowley reading his memoirs. That he's never going to write but it wasn't out but it was it was a kind of superhero thing but I just I just fell asleep because it really was just for the kids this I think hopefully is going to be enjoyed by the grownups I wondered where this love of children's books come from I mean I think we're quite similar ages and I grew up on you know I used to love watching Jack and already with Kenneth Williams you know doing his Willy Wonka impressions and so on and that for me that was the book that always you know got my imagination getting with the ricin book or you know you don't know which you think led to this. Later in life well I always you know dollars the person that got me into reading because I read Charlie in the Chocolate Factory and loved it and I read more of his books and lots of other books too and but I also liked reading children's books as a grown up because I realize there's a lot that I've missed you know I either I was too young. Too old at the time to read them or you know they came out after I was sort of gone through childhood or I just you know I mean Peter Pan You think you know it because you've seen a movie of it but you haven't actually read it so I was reading quality children's books and really enjoying them and I just thought maybe I've got a story I thought this is the story of a boy going to school dressed as a girl I thought it's sort of I guess you know why you grow out of little bits and what we did quite a lot of dressing up. And. But I thought there was something I could do that I couldn't do in comedy sketches which was make it hard felt. Take the reader on an emotional journey and I was just in the but wasn't the 1st but was the boy in the dress it wasn't a huge commercial success but I was pleased with there and proud of it and I want to do more and that was like 12 years ago and says Wait I've had this all the Korea . Which is probably the biggest thing I've ever done as a children's author when I didn't set out 1st to be one because I couldn't really see beyond what we were trying to achieve with Little Britain which was to become you know television comedians I couldn't really think beyond that so it's an Please. The field so be muddling we just need to go because we're hard somehow good on the run 2 to the south where else they come to lead our minds but it's humbling to think of 3 stood close bonds here like twice a day guy please God The seeds of the rugby season we're not going to pull up the picture a big Scotty city bunch. As mentioned not a good day for rather me night at home. Life but always a wonderful goal on Rochdale who haven't had a fear in this game I've taken only from a wonderful long range from the edge of the penalty area through a renewal rush to war well done cast a rover has 11 with the m.k. Dons Rovers fund let's talk about that and spot Iraq's fans 23rd in the National League after another defeat in a bid to spice on the. Ball in almost a 3rd of the deflation in a bromo tank The late. Deflected in. So we are on air and till 630 thank you for this no name on this text but here we go yes I'm feeling a little better can you tell me where you learnt of the possible 21 points or so that the hours could be deducted in the worst case it's quite shocking to hear I'd like to read it learn it myself well it's part of the tariff system that the f.l. Set out for points to doctrines and if you are in debt across the 3 year period to a certain amount that tallies up to more points of shuffle Wednesday hadn't of if Mr Chancery hadn't of bought the stadium away from Sheffield Wednesday and invested the funds in to create the profit that he did Wednesday would have been 3035000000 pounds I think. In trouble and that carries with it the maximum points fine so as a result of that that's where the 21 point thing comes from if you want to read more upon it it's on the b.b.c. Sport website they did a pretty good article on it on December 4th right Graeme I'm a gangster about. Your Doncaster Rovers fan and what's your take on the performance today well I've been. Around the country and there were. Really. Inspire has been there as well but there's a bit I'm not I'm not a Doncaster Rovers fan and I've seen plenty worse than this you know to me. I know you know that. Motion the players take some responsibility then. Call them both sides were done in modern human child when one's so excited on an exam it is you so laid back and that's not our manager that's our money. I mean we're paying good money to a lot. Of the country and you get money so laid back you know in child plays when the doing things wrong. And it's been a lot to me that's not Obama. I mean how a manager conducts himself on the touchline isn't necessarily an indicator of his ability I mean if he did run to brave in the not listening to him what difference does that make. I don't I don't like him I don't think is the man. To be honest I wouldn't say games company get him on. T.v. Talking about the team and. He's your best friend I mean I'm a lifelong angst and I mean I think the only game in this season is the game and. Quite how can man games come in your own field the do play well but when the games coming down to make. Displays go down and. I'm seeing it on many occasions the season is just a just no better on the pond scene not waking wait out you know what I think well I do know what you mean but then again I don't really understand why you would take up and drive the team and let him be the manager if it's your best player. No no not now but when. I mean. Now you know what I mean it is to buy I don't know. I mean if. I really want it be nice. I mean look it's not great at the moment I'm not trying to suggest for one second that it is but you 13th you've got 3 games in hand on 6 place Coventry. I'll still be there next week coming. Up Graeme thanks for your call to the program is easy right don't just are always fans should. I be worried oh is it just a case of you how do you see where the season is right now you've got games in hand no question but performances you know we had Eddie on earlier saying that it's 2nd that because they've just recently. Recently changed their manager I wonder trouble 14949 let's hear from Durham or shall we He's been speaking to Tom Douglas. I want all draw here against the m.k. Dons Is it fair to say with the lightness of the goal that you might go away with one I would say we get away with one because when you look at the stats there we had 7 shots on target 7 shots off target they had 3 shots on target 6 of target so we had a better chance of the game and we felt in terms of the game that a lot of possession in terms of. Managing to manage in the ball I thought 2nd off a step to more with minute change often to get more high up the pitch and engage in more a moment more of a game of it. But really really pleased you know it's a look back at the weekend it's our 3rd game at the end of a tough week in week and you know we are too poor defeat in terms of the cup competitions so to get the point today it's always something to work from really and them and it keeps our own home impressive form going in terms of what we're about today and I saw today I thought and never say die attitude from the players and you know we lost John Taylor end of the last 24 hours. Which was a big blow for us but again the capacity for the boys to almost reset themselves and get ready for a game of football was really really good and I thought it was a good afternoon and it leaves us at the end of the week with a positive and certainly not a negative you said you're looking for a reaction certainly in the aftermath of the. Defeat do you think you got that yeah absolutely really. You know get the beauty have been addressed room any onus to get an address remember that they were the players now and see that as a sense of satisfied satisfaction because as I said you know the last 4 or 5 games before we felt we didn't reach the levels and I just thought today the game was you know we had to turn around the same group of players for 3 games you know 3 games you know look at their team they managed to change up in a week and. Cup game and brought fresh legs in today. And they're in the ascendancy I mean of course enough towards our reckoning keep them a couple of weeks they'll be very very dangerous because as you see in the bench where they've got the car or the top players but now they're a team I think is going to start picking that car or their bodies back of the injury table so I think they'll be dangerous opposition so I knew today was going to be a footballer much I knew today was going to be a quick game I knew today was we was going to set to keep a different type of game in terms of football being played by a team because usually without opposition come here just to stifle us in terms of not allowing us to play so I thought it was a football match I thought it was a probably right result in the day for both when you look at the chances created by both and I thought great desire great determination because at times they met again difficult for us we made some tactical changes I thought we managed the game better in the last 1520 minutes in terms of the tactical changes that we made and then we got back in the game and my if you want to match what is this chance at the end you know quantum arcs in just a moment you mentioned though about their options off the bench is that something that you at the moment perhaps could could only dream of yet because we just we've got injuries of our own you know and you know we've lost because we've lost Cameron . Matty Blair you know these days and names that you know will have an impact on the team and will give us the strength in depth and we haven't got them at the moment you know stress for whatever reason we just haven't got them. But we work hard to get them back put in in the meantime you can't drive the spilt milk you've got to get on with what we what we've got and I saw we did to just that today against difficult team a difficult opposition and coming off the back of a difficult for 5 days. Since a great character great determination and I can certainly see in here and happy because of all the things that went together something to start the week in money supply lower rungs right tonight and I just think it's I'm happy with the with the performance it gives us something to build. So that's Darron No there. 100 trouble 14949 if you want to have your say on the day's events I notice from a lot of the tweets that I'm being sent that the people call it a poll want to be sacked and stick in the names on them and under trouble 14949 if you want to have your response to all of that between now and 630 at Wednesday continuing to winch from 2 games Brantford you finally seen off a side in the top 8 of the table near misses yes against Leeds United and at West Bromwich Albion but Brant food who won 7 elastic we can list off again that were dealt with very well in the 2nd half today actually want to talk about the match tomorrow he can or city again Sheffield United will be on air one commentor from too of course and also the interview should all of today's games in full will be on our website before the day's done b.b.c. Don't cut it u.k. Forward slash Radio Sheffield just as a quick update at Manchester United strangely are at leading the Manchester derby by 2 goals to nail becomes a far away from half time their spouse so that would have been a coupon Buster would it not just to feel fans very very quiet Is that because no one's going to watch anymore are you just thoroughly fed up with the whole thing that with your team 23rd in the division let's say from John Sheridan shall we He's been speaking to filter really well John we've used the f word frustration quite a lot must be the ultimate frustration of all uni's and of that if we had. A good performance against a team obviously were going well before we controlled the game you get a goal in any danger what's the most dangerous from set plays. I mean anything to do when the. Just compete one of. 3 points. Can. People. On the pitch. You just. Have to win it. And doing the wrong thing you know. The game out money. Money again. You have to. Just keep a clean sheet and. In this league we don't we don't we just. Too many times always been and I can't you can't so how does the money. Game and I don't people are looking at me. I honestly can go out and do some of. That today as well so my money down and so can. My counting count. He's done it many times this season. So we need to. Hold him in I don't do this but I'm telling him and he needs to know. For me. As a game. Of the game of think about the game in a probably because I'm still be open about the game and. I'm just being honest. Is the come out and. You know we can't we can't make them decisions on the pitch because. We've told him. And plays that full and. He still gets too many away. Free kicks we give away and it's ended up costing us. So spy rights funds where where do you go from here I mean you've got the players you've got and some of those players for the level that they are playing at will be earning good money so I'm not sliding scale they should be doing an awful lot better than they are doing you've played well if you if you accept John Sheridan's appraisal of the game why wouldn't you they've played alright but for some big incidents within the game. Do you in any way think that this team this group of players can get themselves out of the mess that they've put themselves in over the course of the next few weeks I mean the fixture list in reality doesn't really get any harder to any easier between now and and Christmas time it only really gets harder you're facing a lot of the the leading lights in the division aren't quite frankly so you can only see them going on struggling can you if you want to talk about that between now and 630 you can do away 100 trouble 14949 Wednesday get a victory against a side in the top half of the table they beat Brantford by 2 goals so wants to flex your Wednesday fans where would you agree without his goals at the moment that what you make of what you make of this band the fans Paul the tykes as this fans here only in 80 minutes if we're winning or drawing we think the game is won it says here every time we lose in the last 10 minutes a pleasure be find wild something really happened to Blackburn has now and then again today down at Cardiff City it doesn't really feel Admittedly I say this from a far that it doesn't feel like a step back today performance wise it sounded as though actually they were pretty decent for the most part against Cardiff. Ian the rotten supporter says he a poor worn just mentioned the elephant in the room that beast today or most matches was bringing on Smith and with hasty in og bending on the pitch in our Smyth to continually to drift on to the wings if he's going to play Smith he has to be disciplined to stay up front in the middle to attack the ball did this to good effect solid hole which is a rarity Smith is the elephant in the room. In the rather I'm supporter I can I can see where Ian is coming from. Smith The start of the campaign had to play out why didn't he now he should have that discipline is an experience strike when he goes on to to stay in a more central position there is with there are players who provide that with but it's almost as if right now he's caught between 2 stools Now whether that's a managerial thing a tactical thing all the pledges thinking well I'll do what I did at the start of the season but that didn't work either in many respects in a football sense it sounds as though Smith's had his nose put out of joint with Ludacris a rival even though in some respects it should be able to play together front. I want him to trouble want 4940 The problem is the hopefulness and that's where the vast majority of funds see see that. They're still very much. Nobody really apart from a few techs suggesting anything should happen any dramatic changes. On the managerial front rather mean arctics ought to work for them and also forgetting the good job that Paul was done for the football club over the course of the past couple of years away 100 trouble 14949 let's hear from one of the players that we've been speaking to today Cameron John don't cast the rovers Cameron Jones left for straight and then after the 11 draw with the m.k. Dons will come one let's start at the end if you like and the goal hounded out of the old core about. Spare well really of the integrable. Check from the corner. Or one of them's part out and it's just him and just needed back in. Feeding. Because they just seem to bounce around for ages and then suddenly your wheeling away in delight Yeah it was a. Messy goal but we need them scrap because sometimes they. Get off the team you mentioned again again ago you got this in your locker and you just not seem to have this habit of popping up in the right place at the right time mean I don't know where it's come from last year I didn't score any so I think it's nice for me to chip in and around the team in Iraq and so whether that's defending North Koreans he has been good overall is just reward for the 10 weeks that you've been absent Yeah we can say you can say that yeah it was nice to be back pain in the league and see the call was a nice reward when the wind more important is something to build on and hopefully we can take on the us safe to say that this wasn't the result that you probably anticipate. 5 to 3 this afternoon surely not I think we had some good chances in these games today and it's just we call be more clinical is something to build on them off the past 2 weeks and precious Cup games over his past 7 days and so this is good to build on for the season and it's calm I guess the mantra is in the dressing room if you can't win a game to make sure that you don't lose it definitely we don't want to lose a home especially just for us to get the job and some some for us to just keep out of and we keep going to the end and that's what we always do and we never really give up and we always believe we're going to score and win the game so yeah it was nice to not lose a game and some to go down what about you in terms of minutes of the bell feel good to get another one to the key altho a lot but a lot better today it's nice to just get on the games in now and keep building and yeah it's been good for me and just see myself and just take it on and for the season we spoke last week about the 4 credible. Club you played with. Today in Donovan Daniels how we see different to the of those. I think they will bring different qualities and I think it's just nice for me to learn all 4 of them and Donovan today was big strong powerful and quite my ball as well so we kind of limited complement each other quite well so yeah Donovan again was really gets a peg on side and it's something that for me I can learn off all free of them and I've learned every time of it in training with his trainer in the game and so yes not for me just get filled different people and see build relationships with every single one of them finally from me it's probably fair to say that you're close to anyone in the club to how. You can bring those. Being in contact with them quiet law and good spirits and was I don't really know about the time timeframe for me and him we just talk on a friendly basis I just keep on. I can only him and see how he is but yeah. Yeah. So. When he's back and fit him firing he will be back in the calls as well so yeah calling for him to have him back and. Very anything in a future. So any surprise or grumbling pvc Radio Sheffield That's Cameron John there incidentally at Manchester United a leading to nil at Man City in the Manchester Gary in holes says this Chris Wilder hoping to strengthen his squad in January can I suggest he makes the short journey over the m $62.00 to hole and snap up Gerrard Bowen a whole city he's Premier League class already a super consistent and is the type of player who would bring the best out of Bernie and are all been sent and he scored twice today rumors over here all that Newcastle keeping an eye on him come on late snapping up he wouldn't even have to move house well let Chris Wilder is making moves and planning moves and I dare say as we speak with that January on the horizon if you want to know a little bit more about what he's thinking then head to our website bbc got cut u.k. Not far from that an accident on the. Road just at the moment junction blocking a lane I know if it is as well trying to save that route as well it's how hampering the a 5 t 5 and the 18 for there was an act an early on the Middleton road the a 576. And on the still dealing with it Michelle accuse slowly on the motorway where you found it particularly heavy today and if you heading through 2 with with unsure on pounds week laying still working on the best main between Woodhouse lane and brown the road while the do not you can't use that section of pounds in any updates then a way 1818 double to double find. The money will come up and that b.b.c. Radio Manchester. Good morning from a very resilient b.b.c. Radio Manchester resilience being the word we're going to use for the next hour or so during the phone in on 08021 at double to double 5 Ok So from a footballing perspective it hasn't been a good weekend for Manchester Manchester United suffering a defeat at Newcastle Manchester City suffering the fate of home against a very good wall of sight and hello to all the Wolves fans who are listening specifically one Ross in and weapons failed who says yes don't forget the world's played very well yes indeed they did but I want to know about a time that you bounced back that you were resilient that you thought things were horrendous Lee bods But you know what everything worked out in the end away $100.00 to $1.00 at double to double 5 it's basically our way of maybe throwing some inspiration towards Ali and pap but more importantly throwing our inspiration to people who are maybe struggling with something at the moment people who think that they're at a low ebb maybe we can give them a little bit of a pick up on such a great Texas start to show Collin and as he has every This he said a big fall off for City and United get rail look at Bolton on 9 points in League One and Play spare a thought for Barry fans with no football at all. Not much sympathy for these clubs Good luck to solve does he help call and thank you very much for that so potentially we can be giving some inspiration to Barry fans how. One of you every day life that shows things will be alright in the end give us a call. After some Fleetwood. For the next couple of days I'm dead continue on a 100. 5 How does. Manchester bounce back this morning yes Manchester United on Manchester City both defeated Manchester United having a torrid time of it Liverpool opening up an 8 point gap at the top of the Premier League so Moscow Times that you bounced back maybe a little bit of inspiration for Ali and pap and a couple of text messages coming in this morning Sam spare a thought for the likes of Bolton and Barry who really have to learn how to bounce back after a really dramatic number of months in their history really good points being well made it won 3 doubles 3 starch a massive with mine if you want to send me a text message and we start with Eddie and AK is Good morning Eddie Montana I'm really good I'm better than some football fans here who are hanging their head today do we take football too seriously as he sometimes. Did I mean at the end of the day since not taking him all these years I mean it's just. It's not a my market so he's got a special attention so logical obsessed Oh yeah yeah my mom used to say to me and she still goes regularly if I have a foul mood over football she she just says to me she's really sort of. Literally no knowledge of football whatsoever right she's never watched a game I don't think in her life right but she will come up and she'll go to me were you playing and I'll go no then you cannot have affected the result why you so upset. But you know what there's been a lot of people that actually play in the game while they watch and again claim again but it's the to the status of the militia to stop all this like should do this to some fellow should do that's what it's with all right well listen we're asking people how did they have bounced back right because we want to get sort of that a bit of inspiration for Ali and perhaps granted me telling his family placed into me take there but there are some people obviously we don't all have a happy day as every day we want to give people a little bit of inspiration to how they might bounce back if they're having a bit of a tough time at the moment you've done that yeah yeah players that's good news for saying check again Mr Rich's exam was taken me Wolf Blitzer exam which assessed on all of the. Teacher assessed for everybody else we're going to send balance and they can point. And they said Mr Sharpton says. It was the socialist excess. Make kids John and it says you know if I'm a songs I was on my back side you're not the message on a steady shot to get to our cap talk of solid last when I was putting on all the cluster style often I shall I'm not so subtle going to be just what I'll call a sellout along on the really good because given that Nixon doctrine is a cabinet maker Yeah I mean God's cop in charge I was thinking of following in the From whence tradition you know being a conference myself and my loan bill with about 3 months was applied sort of can shit man she said it works department. Chances John a. Decision Alex on the fateful 5 call inside so got into session I did 200 you're one of the 5 I was one of the 5 like you and they should say I clicked on the nations it was about concentrating on all the source. Pasta. Sauce he said and now it's last night so I'm not stopped him since John and I must have kept him. I'm not out search. Me if you still want to talk you know. This book assault or so now Mr try. To do what I do I very very rarely do this f. I'm not done something that's a bit of crack but this genuinely made one of these hold on. As a round of applause for Eddie and you don't want sometimes sometimes you need those moments where you said a people know well actually you are completely wrong is there any chance and potentially your teacher was trying to sort of double psychologize you by saying no you're not going to make a carpenter that would push you on to be a carpenter or was he just not a nice person in this used. Not to let me know and the nicest. Thing you mean. Because of course think of a 1000 words of Oh yeah for plenty of thank you for not bringing them to the radio about quarter past 9 in the Monday morning but last night as I had a quite a similar actually funny when you're telling Not story there I remember doing I was an actor previously to doing this and I remember doing a play one time on the teacher calling me out in the front of the entire cast about something I'd done had actually stepped forward journey to play to try and allow one of the other members of the cast to pick up my microphone I was one of microphone and he picked me out in front of and says you will never make anything with that attitude and I remember Similarly getting I was I was part of the National Youth Theatre which was you get picked out of their stars and people go for it but they only pick it like similar to your south only pick out a couple of people every year and you go and then you eventually end up in west and stuff and I remember walking up the stairs of my school on this teacher calling make it in here I said what I do he don't even touch me why you showed me this and you make sure you make sure you you do yourself proud over there and I looked him dead in the eye and I goes well put it this way I'm. One of the better than anything you've ever done. It was them is another just exactly the same as you close some account of this is true society is. Not a machine a new student start silence on the matter and it might be given out the whole 99. Why do I pick one single doing light science and not making goes on and I applaud him for that one percent that little light I mean is not it's not some work on over beers but if you do if you just put it down all the time it's not no it's not sure that that person is rewarded for the one percent between like any lovely to talk to this morning thanks for calling I. Really appreciate that lovely coffee Matty there is we're talking about dancing back granted right there is a little bit of a tongue in cheek element of this morning right football isn't the be all and end all but they'll be a lot of Manchester United a Manchester City fans waking up today with a little bit of a humpy head on them as my dad would say How can Manchester bounce back and how did you balance back in your life give us a little bit of inspiration if you will or to know if you want to get involved in the conversation as to how Manchester United or indeed Manchester City can bounce back even if you want to give us a call from a football perspective you can do because we want your appetite for talking balls tonight with jazz on Calle a City fan and United fan neither of them very happy right should be a good lesson the saving and this is what Kyle and Gaz said to Chelsea this morning on the breakfast show we knew this was going to one of the season is the thing about why everyone goes suddenly I was trying to get out all the going to social boxing trying to make it into a big. Story because we kind of expected this and we knew united in the past for a very long time got worse a long time a very and quite well everyone was very well aware of that and all the fans bad right we're going to be patient with Ali we're going to give these young lads time because the performances are going to be inconsistent and then already at the season being a bit of fun starts and I'm the manager. Get rid of them in the same thing galoshes tell me where you kind of don't listen to. The Big 8 is days and all the way oh it's going to be the season. They're going to be I now look at them they don't know that every single week got me in. Like I. Really don't know. But they seem really I didn't I didn't know I didn't think you'd be able to do any any miracles if you were doing in the league put it that way you are you all showed they would not be able to take you live let not allow you to remember the last year yeah and join in more of the conversation the saving from sex so you can join in the conversation No No 802 an attitude of a 58 and isn't Rossendale a good morning to you come on and we're talking about bouncing back in am are you do you have been Spock ability to use a football phrase. To all my life share add to to walk separations in long in. The wind. When I came out of hospital clean on God's plan because. I enjoy sports which of course is I'm choosing them fishing which is sport Cobol by the way isn't supposed to be game. And the friends. Really out I have junking in both. Macau because I can drive. But I can look after the last thing time. And slowly got back to doing the sports. It was a Hans Yeah. How important is it time for him all of those things you're talking about how important is to have that initial movement to go back into it right when you've had your health problems and you well. This is different as you choose in sport then there is. Games you say and this is why I was saying the balance in choosing impatient we don't have the time. Of motion no touch them with games such as phone calls so if you're our patient and you have a big day you just lock the diary so for example when 2. Blokes are lots and lots of creation. Most of them why nor why it has well that's typical they do in a sport and the difference tween sports in the game shows up on the sold on the law and enjoyment and even on the day when they don't touch anything they just to show that this is just this friend who doesn't know this is Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse to do a fishing show together on a.b.c. It's on i Player Now if you watch it yeah and it's the same thing so all the lads do in the sport I. Thought the doctors cheered in their own movie out Bill and kind and really nice and close that kind shit with gains. All these aggression that comes in which doesn't actually Ah well in a lot instead let me give me one piece of advice if you can before we go to traffic and travel here give me one piece of advice for anybody potentially as haven't let me know having the best time at the moment right we're trying to find out how to bounce back you've already you sound like somebody who has bounced back from adversity what one line of advice would you give the. You. Mo mo mostly over your get up and get out there that are all enough to know you don't get on it again. You're a star Thank you for coming on this morning. If you do need a little bit of bounce back ability get up and get out and just get out against. The radioman just travel update So how does Manchester bounce back after that sporting weekend how did you bounce back give us a call now let's get the latest traffic and travel 1st of all though with Sara Elliot good morning good morning we've seen a busy Monday morning commute we've still got delays on the a 663 Broadway much heavier than usual from the old mill roundabouts towards the m 65 you can see wide appreciate that she was at a road works very slow approaching from all sides towards Oldham where there's been an accident on the a 60 there's a lane closed at the moments Junction and then if you make you wait you on the m 6 a couple of issues to watch out for a broken down vehicle just after junction 18 and a pothole just have to some batch where they've closed off the inside lane while they repair that so far we've got so little bit of traffic around within sure lingering near pounds which lane is because part of that is close between Woodhouse lane and brown if you know of a problem please get in touch hundreds to 18 stable 2 to 5. With. A music theme at lunchtimes this week is Andrew richly talks to me about his found mate George Michael the schoolboy. Average 12 year old. Nothing like the man very much. And Kane chats about that latest album cause them to fact the whole album is kind of based around. Your life . Exciting life so there's a lot of on the record as well interesting to positives. It's your phone in 0800. 5 we've been asking you this morning of the times that. For a few problems you back from a time when life wasn't going perfect because let's be honest both unpacked from a man test united in a Manchester City Point of View need a little bit of spark ability to use a footballing term So when did you bounce back when did you overcome adversity we want to hear from you this morning. Barry Good morning Jackie good morning Qana Jackie it's all about bouncing back the human spirit has it within a stone way so he sat me down yeah got. Football fan Jackie I am I am so much better living in. Sales But you know perhaps about the team an obstacle. That maybe you haven't seen. But with with you being in Perry just just talked me through and we've spoken a lot about this on the a.b.c. Radio Manchester sports team have talked a lot about it over the last number of months Barry's footballing plight How has it affected sort of 2 or 3 weeks down the line how has it affected the community there . I think people are very sad you know I mean I feel even though it's a long time because I also feel it's good to get back on the say I'm going to start going again because when we meet the Po I quickly that's what it's made me sales that God has stopped going you think I'm going to use to get too cold and wet. You know I think as many people think about the local shaman if I have on the can even you know business says and generally I think it's made people come together as well you know what unites it it's highly definitely Yeah and that's kind of the essence of what we're talking about this morning on the show and just a balancing back about getting to the next level granted we're talking about it from Manchester United and Manchester City perspective you know the multi-millionaires who are playing for both teams it won't really affect their lives that much if neither teams pick up 3 points the next time there are. Things like Barry going out of a supposed footballing existence does actually physically affect people's jobs and livelihoods so tell me by the time you bounce back Jackie Well to be honest life even calling my life has been series about him seem blocking me currently at the moment I'm kind about. I mean the operation let's not make coffee socially I think . On the contrary I don't see it as a movie. Well since do you know about 3 different things go wrong in the house and how it's got to live basically and I'm thinking gosh I get me so what I'm doing I'm challenging myself to do things that I would never dream of going on the line so. How about doing a few things that people I oh my god I can't believe you don't like one of you don't Jackie. But actually. I auditioned for the months the voices I got 3 which to me I don't even stand up and talk and stuff me can. Play the. Scariest thing. Again I've done in my whole life this is the b.b.c. Radio Manchester New Voices you tell me is why don't you. So there you go I could do that thank you I can hear your voice your voice is one and potentially you know who knows what the next step is for you. No one else if you don't what else have you done well both the House and the lead all these things I was scouted out to do it but what's happened it made me think you just got to I mean I kind of. Really traumatic my rage. About 3 years ago now and I've talked about that from not thinking that you know and I'm just saying life's a life and challenges south. And believing in yeah absolutely absolutely and that's exactly kind of the essence of the phone in today on this a bit is a bit of a mantra somebody told me once and I love it right because it's very easy to end up in Iraq it's very easy to continuously do something over and over again and think why can't I punch back why can't I get to the next level yeah kind of like what you're saying if we always do what you always did you will always get what you always got. And not just that's kind of what I'm picking up for me this morning really lovely to talk to this morning. Thank You can continue to bounce back Jackie and Barry at Jackie. Brilliant Jackie thank you so Jackie once again Jackie having a piece of the problems in her life and she's thinking you know what I need to find a way and she did find a way to bounce back so how have you bounce back what a very inspiration or indeed a bit of advice would you give the general public this morning 0802 and it double to double 5 so we've spoken about Manchester United Manchester City because both teams losing this weekend and we're trying to work out earlier on when was the last time both city and United lost in the same weekend can you remember because I was I was doing as much research as a cold this morning on the phone to difficult in the Premier League I'm talking about it interesting if you know that stock or that fact do give me a shot and let me know but one other team based in Manchester has overcome adversity as well when I moved over here to Manchester some years ago suffered Red Devils were kind of that you you know take the team that were always in and around sort of the bottom area of the rugby league world and on top of that as well there was everything from how the company's been run how the institutions being run people not turning up to go and see the software devils but things hopefully and thankfully on a G.M.'s and how they bounced back from a soft red devils perspective. There with the fans this morning because they're on the way to a big final and now well I'm trying to I was speaking to Chelsea and Mike and I was . About how souls had Red Devils had reached the semifinals the up against Wigan Warriors and it was only like Calais that they were going to get to the grand finals but what an achievement so far for them to reach this point the only one to date it didn't matter the only ones in beat there which is obsolete the phones hostage I've been speaking to a few people this morning just didn't solve it you are absolutely over the moon and let me tell you they are side you have had the downs and the downs the dolls and what a great way to start the we. Were talking about bouncing back this morning I mean patiently Connor I don't know who you follow but I'm a blob and rover is fun so we have high highs we were in the Premier League in the 95 which was just astronomical knows memories for that day from they were just out . The whole town was painted blue and why it was incredible you know we've had. Of downs as well and. We were relegated to League One but the next season we bounced back with the help of a few great players probably Charlie Mulgrew and we're back in the championship so it is doable and something I can take away from the and that kind of process was that the entire team well supported in every farm got behind the team so when I'm hearing about Man United fans on happy this morning in the months to well I just say get behind. Them keep on believing them because that's the joy of football isn't it the highs and lows and it is what makes it interesting it is what it's all the bow and I listen to the staff and speak to some people this morning about the highs and lows of football but also in that pistol lives as well and what they've done to balance back here we can bounce back course there's a lot to play for it was only what. Is always a go in the last 3 made as well so out of all of it I just like a lady has the ups and the downs the pace of a. The wonderful thing about football isn't predictable it's ons and that's the good thing about us why so interest and. I'm sure. Get it sorted all eventually wants to people who are into the game back in how we see b.b. And I thought at the moment it's fine like building through the several good history of doing well. So you think they will improve on the spot Yeah I mean they already like slowly maybe it just depends to me the perfect balance of team how do you have thoughts about spot so many can in your life is a big something why if you know you've got to take out some industry and and come back from something. To do you any term like doing the situation so it's a law it's stressful it's the defense's you know what if not a man has got to bring to play football it's possible you know what to do a ways to 47 minutes of my life. It's. You think about a great thing that you did in the past books we shall overcome with the growth I thought he was doing it out of the you. See that young lady bounced back from being cornered from b.b.c. Radio Manchester reporter by punching onto a bus something cannot. Physically. She was out of there was I'm sure your heart bleeds for City and Man United being a black. No I mean it's a shame isn't they don't not been denied season but I mean at least playing Premier League football which is something I remember for a long time so I am where going to be balancing all across Greater Manchester today on the way to 102 in a double 2 to be 5 Have you had a bounce back moment on. Yeah I see a lot gaslight obviously there's a few relationships that government have to you know you pull yourself together and you get on with it and if you bereavements as well and then there. My uncle Dyson a couple of years ago and I was really really really close to them and I still think about him every day I think it's just time isn't it times that he left and I have enough to pull in and chatted and you just got to keep on going and you know fake it until you make a you know I sounded from a dating perspective if indeed you need to do any dating or find that new relationship you should do it through the medium of Chelsea Narcisse breakfast show on b.b.c. Radio Manchester. Definitely children it continues and I would see about it on tomorrow morning. Thank you very much on is innocent who has been done with everyone connected to this offered Red Devils this morning because they're on their way to quite historic final and you can cover all of that and follow all of thought on b.b.c. Radio Manchester so Bunsen Bach is the essence of what we're talking about we will continue to do that for the next 25 minutes away $100.00 to $1.00 it double to double 5 paid isn't Stockport pay to have you got bounced back ability. Yeah I've called. I was telling your producer. I was out for about 7 months. She ended up mums I was feeling useless worthless Clyde for jobs and got no sense. To a stage where I don't think you know. Is there any point in going on going to jump off a bridge on social change that law. Which. I've managed to get myself on. An s I a course which is a security license and normally last I a course takes 6 days but the one I went on for 4 weeks and at the end of the course I come out with my sie license and I also come out. And the queue level 2 in customer service safeguard in the vulnerable she would in crowd safety and I am now. Working for a major security company. I work in lots of hours and things are now looking good 1st of all congratulations. For the achievements that you've actually got that that's amazing to pick up the essay a course on n b Q as well and well done as well for the adversity bit and I know potentially. Saying things like I was going to in about a comma is jump off a bridge people think that you're being overly dramatic and stuff their butts people when they are out of work and feel like they don't have a place of the don't have any meaning it's very easy to enter those dark spaces and it's very important we talk about the papers and. He area is. Because. It's axis he ses and quite a lot of our guys can go shop for from p.t.s.d. And they do go into these stock docs bases I don't fault journalists on Charlie. And their lives because they've not got any simple all that know anything that tell me about your support Tell me about the people who are behind you who are pushing you on because they're almost sometimes needs to be someone there to say look I know you're right I'm on for 7 I work for 7 months but there's option a b. C. And d. Here how do you the people behind you. Yes I did want. Changing relay ways. I was actually going to going to do it and. A friend of mine called around and he said well you know what's going on here so I just broke down and. Everything out and he said Right Ok I said you obviously we've got to get you some how. And in church with one of the In my case one of the military charities the original the people out there. And. They come around to say May they said Right Ok Where can we go from there what can we do and then a friend of mine is just. In my Military Association he works for. The Lodge security company and he said what you need to do he said we need to get we said we need to get you out of this hole and. A port may interact with the people who could help me with the Sie license and somehow I think paid paid I know I have only just met you a number of minutes ago Paul I haven't listened to you of the last the while I'm very proud of it and you should be very proud of yourself. Well. I want to have you know you should be no less a no no hairless and that's one thing you need to get out of this here you should be incredibly proud of yourself you've gone from a really difficult dark place to like you said not only getting your license but also getting more education and finding a meaning and you're one of those people who's going to be helping people from you know anyone who works in the security industry actually helps individuals every single day have a lesson well done. Thank you very much Scott and thank you for listen thank you for picking up the phone and tell us this morning really means a lot to a lot of people who are listening at the moment or a 100 to one at double to double 5 that bounce back ability we did start this with our tongue placed firmly in our cheeks Granted a few football results didn't go well for Manchester United Manchester City coming back for Ali and Pat what I want to find out do you want to bounce back or can you or did you bounce back in your personal life and can you give any advice to anyone else let us know for the next 20 minutes or so. The radio man just travel update let's get the latest on the roads for a Monday morning Sara good morning good morning we've got delays in Oldham both some of them all the way lease roads in the more we can accidents and originally with that one line closed I think it's still being dealt with because I can see where it's queuing very heavily as you approaching through from Spring Hill and there was quite a lot of traffic backing up as well from all sides at one point repentant heavy at the bottom of it at the end 6 on the southbound there holding the traffic at 17 just because they've been dealing with this so they've been dealing with at least morning inside lines being closed they've now holding the traffic and I just temporarily I don't think going to be sat there for too long but it is starting to queue now toward 17 and the m 630 heading into Manchester there is a broken down car and it's just as you approach the region road roundabout so blocking one of the lanes heading through slightly as they coming through from Kill the brick road if you know the problem cool is on our 8018 stable 2 to. Best selling quickly. To get tickets to my. Second. Job. Dionne Warwick heartbreaker on b.b.c. Radio Manchester it's Monday morning good morning I'm calling in from Mike over the next couple of days and we're talking about burns Bikeability today right so we started the show talking about the fact that both Manchester City and Manchester United losing over the weekend I can't remember a time in the Premier League when that happened before so I'm still trying to have a little luck when both teams lost in the same weekend so using dot we've taken the inspiration of soft and red devils who are going to the grand final for the 1st time in their history so they have shown how to bounce back because the Wasn't too many years back where they were consistently consistently flirting with relegation she remembered the 1000000 pound game to him when this when the when everything came together with one kick of the ball and here we are a couple of years later showing the world how to bounce back so we've taken our We're putting not into your personal lives today at 0802 and at double 2 to be 5 How have you balanced back we've heard from a young individual earlier on he said he bounced back after his woodwork teaching him that he would never make a carpenter some years later he is no master craftsman he wants a message to his old school and his old school teacher in your face I think it was there or thereabouts that we heard from paid a couple minutes ago. He was out of work for 7 months and he needed to find a way to bounce back and with the help of a charity and some friends he's now he's now gone through an essay a course in n.v. Q. And he comes out back into work showing that the Manchester spirit is alive and well and would give that inspiration to anyone is listening to their ashes impressed with how. Good a modern can are to be lovely to hear your voice Have you got that little thing within you that we all should have where we should either bounce back or indeed give people the inspiration and support to bounce back as well well I've got so many stories. About spark in life relationships and business and. The number 4 are a 1000000 Pad and i play my tennis so it's what a little story about so I played in a tournament and York in a few weeks ago I played a guy called Paul and it's a 1st round and I lost a really close GAEV. The following Kaufman which was paid last week in London played the same player yeah right here my chum get revenge. I want. I thought of experience of Bob Yeah tell me that we spoke before I shabbily. Yes I mean when you're covering a combative show in the evening Yeah yeah I spoke about the fact that we've the brilliant and amazing Mike Bushell who's on Strictly Come Dancing and he does a number of different sports like this so he's I've passed him on all your details by the way because you left him with us a possum on the audio as well but he's a bit busy at the moment on the dance floor. So it's one of those things that we love to get you know a little bit more coverage of playing tennis because it sounds like such such a brilliant sport we've spoken about it before but Pete being visually impaired ash if you don't mind me asking you Do you find obstacles in the way that you're consistently have independence back from. Who want visually impaired in society don't understand. So I think. Disabled people we are naturally resentment because we can much have to be yeah if we were to say almost you know fit it very well may just get home and do nothing but I get out there in our business. I call speed dating so a lot. Lots of the know about a lot of rejections but they'll go they'll go I mean business you know a lot of people say oh you know but I'm just a possibility out there I think I think you learn more by actually failing in life yeah if you for example in football if you win every match you're not going to live much and I think we've said See. I don't know about how safe it might be a good day but I'm down to a little bit but said City have been City have been done the bottom and just look at that and forgive me City and United fans but look at the Liverpool situation that's a tame who less than sort of 6 years ago were in the Premier League and 7th in the Premier League and couldn't qualify for Europe so they have had to learn how to bounce back City have been in the lowest actual arms of world football and know they're up there right at the top of the Premier League sort of even though the 2nd how to balance back and and you've done that as well Mitt Thanks again for giving the shot just enough do so we favor as Drop me an email confidant from the b.b.c. Dakota you care right about the playing tennis because we will at some stage we'll make it happen whether I get out to see is there a sense of it to say as a b.b.c. Radio Manchester we'll do it for my Saturday show are a. Great see a column stem is to me understand him because I think it's awfully amazing playing tennis where they actually play with the tennis ball with the the little sound in the tennis ball and then you have to learn how to play tennis while blindfolded if you indeed you aren't blind and visually impaired it's an incredible sport I was looking on a new chip a couple of weeks ago it's just amazing how did you bounce back 0802 on a double double 5 Mario is in Gorton Good morning good morning Conor How are you I'm just lovely to hear these stories today because I'm sure there's a lot of people listening who are struggling with many different things and I suppose it's just talent people that the light at the end of said tunnel exactly Well mine was 12 years ago I had a Christian holiday New Zealand with Mr back home some washing in the washing machine realised I needed can Bratton nipped out the supermarket came by. Back to fire engines on our road toll what's going on my house up on fire no way yeah yeah it was well we think according to the accident and the insurance company it was started in the kitchen so they think it was a tumble dryer fire oh wow can I ask my what to do losing the fire everything gangsta as they completely golf the whole of the downstairs everything gets thrown out most think the thing I'm miss most of all about that was photos of the kids growing up I was just going to say about the. Lawn Even now I go and think of something no I haven't got the photograph of the cuts post I was I was the house for 67 months I have to it was just before Christmas it was the 16th of December I had 2 kids at uni the word used to come home from different universities for Christmas time you know coming up as well until they found they still might just stay for the 6 or 7 months but the only things I was Ok I really would say yes of love photos but really nothing else is important to your house or your life. I remember speaking to a friend of mine back home in Ireland about 6 months ago and he was in for a bit. We just sort of met up at the pub and just haven't having a chat and we were all talking about work and what we were going to go on from this and I was going to do that and a friend of mine was working on his business do not need turn around to us both and he said you know what I was laying in bed I was sick and he said I had no and this is always stand to me he says I've no idea where my wallet even was and I was like that they're just things material things and to act like money is just a thing granted when you have a good life becomes a little bit easier time to time but if you're certain and you're lying in a hospital bed if you're not well on those things disappear very quickly and your family's health and safety was the number one priority was and yes it has to be a I mean don't get me wrong I would have depressed completely cannot help but look I'm Ok I'm well I'm sure I can think back yeah I've lost some but it could have been a lot worse in the middle of the night by the time the kids were home from uni It would have been a different tale how did you bounce back how is the new house it's fine the house is fine now yeah look the new kitchen. Which I was planning on doing anyway I needed a new kitchen so I had to put the new kitchen I mean you know the slime I have to go out and buy things scratch lost both old pictures up on the wall all sorts of things. I've had some friends who were great to actually found all along to look different occasions when they not actually don't copies of potions so I have so a component of them a kid growing up and that sort of c.n.n. Earlier on I says having people around you from from having to bounce back from all sorts of adversity if you have the right people around you or need you to listen to people it can be such such a helpful thing count money it can indeed it certainly can come and buy it thank you for giving us a shot really appreciate that great. Here for me Marty has got bounced back ability after a house fire I bounced back after learning I had epilepsy and changed jobs from computers to retailing I've been in retailing for 15 years my advice would be to try and have a look at yourselves as you train and change your layout as you play event and Stockport thank you very much for that and we started talking about this based on the fact that man united Man City may need to bounce back a little over the weekend because they didn't have the best weekend did that Vince and hello not just suffered Red Devils bouncing back a big shot at police to old Tim rough aids rugby league who won their league one grand final yesterday to win promotion to the Championship it's been a long hard road since the previous club liquidated and 997 with ups and downs but yesterday was a great team performance well done to all concerned maybe this a little bit of inspiration and not for Barry potentially from a Barry football fan perspective right I think we can finish with Sue in talking to a good morning to. Me Good to hear from you so how was your weekend. Oh really good see a good way to move time we had yesterday we had a historic walk around not just of which model spin spin the search and then with some friends that was really good lovely and let's finish the talk or did the phone in over the last week while about bouncing back how have you been Spock and how did you experience bouncing back. 17 or 18 years I can't really remember exactly and I ended up was trumps I have to nurse in my spine my words been horrendous and yeah exactly I. Thought it was going to end up in a way of trust to be perfectly on this the pain was agonizing. Stuff I didn't. Join Tim a spine which doesn't work for a lot of people but fortunately it was to make. A stop to be covert slowly. I started to do yoga which helped tremendously I did exactly as I was told by the doctors didn't do anything stupid. I had been riding horses since I've been 9 years old I've always wanted my own pony and never got one and when I was 48 years old my husband said right you can go out and buy your own home I love the thought of your homes are gone or I say it's time for you to get a horse because they knew that that had horses on loan then I'd always wanted my own. I was a horse. I don't have it anymore unfortunately she had to be put just like God love her she had not she didn't jump him but I had a lot of wonderful years with that I did everything that I have a wanted to do with my own house and as I say I thought I was going to end up in a wheelchair never mind being able to ride again still fortunate to have a lot of friends to the pulses and I still ride now when I'm 63 so you're an inspiration. Lovely way to finish this morning's phone and say thank you very much to many happy years continuous writing arise thank you thank you soon tiring to keep them coming and if you want to text it 13 double 3 Start your message with mine burn spark ability from a football perspective or more importantly from a personal life perspective. 95 we want to digital radio on b.b.c. I'm Bob good afternoon how are you I am very well thank you thanks for talking to insist that the lazy don't know what struck festal bam it's all fake struck it's big it's loud it's brash and lots and lots of fun and we're back at the showground of it it's fantastic weather thanks for ordering that for us and we we do our best to keep everybody happy that's basically news in the name really it's all about trucks and what is the fascination about trucks sometimes I suppose if you're on the motorway get frustrated if you're stuck behind one but it's nice to think T. In a place to them isn't it well I think I think they're very much larger than life you know there's a lot of them a very very glamorous because they've been airbrushed with some great themes you know the weather the edge attaining seems whether it's the sporting sayings and some of the American custom trucks are just incredible to look at you know put that together with stuff like like the monster trucks that crushed cars in the main arena you can even ride on a monster truck here. And you know there's lots and lots going on throughout the week and I would imagine we've got about 600 trucks here and there are so many variations on the same records the vintage trucks as well as I said to you it's it's very very much larger than life and the kids love coming down to to see you know you mention the monster truck that's the thing the kids really get excited about isn't it that huge they know massive wheels that just crushes anything in its path that's got the balloon tires and when it hits the lead car that are all stacked up together it actually goes airborne. And it's quite a spectacle Actually I case may actually take them over but hopefully will keep you don't know for wheels and just enjoyed speck spectacle of it that's fantastic and the people who drive these massive monster trucks is that their career is that their job just spending all the time driving these things so they drive regular whitens that you see on the road today. Well some of them some of them do obviously they're going to transport them here so yes in that case they do but you can even ride on a monster truck now because we've got one here that's got harnessed seats in the back that you can actually ride on but it's it's all about the guys as well who do this for a living they drive trucks for a living they love to bring their trucks along show them off and they're kept to such a high standard and it's all about rather like crafts for trucks if you like selling that. So I think end of that weekend the judge is a very round and I judge the best fleet that's custom trucks I wanted so forth and so it's you know it really is an accolade for them and it's just a weekend packed I mean this motorcycle displays in the main arena those there's lots and lots of things that's going on for everybody really I'm getting really excited about electric cars and the future that brings to it is when I'm going to see some electric trucks on our roads and maybe electrical box truck theft Well I'll tell you what we're not far away some of the prototypes that are coming out now you know are incredible and of course the ones that are self drive which go in convoys that's quite interesting. You know they will be they will be the next generation I think and they're working to get really really close to it now the the truck manufacturers but I've got some great trucks on show at the moment here with all the innovations I mean some of them are like space cabs you know they've got everything in them everything you could possibly want. In the case of those truckers actually go into European stuff you know they've got the fridge is it in the microwave or the T.V. These and they're quite old some to look at that's their living quarters it's the suspension in the driver's seat that you see on the telly in the seats the up and down it looks like you just kind of gliding on ahead. I'll tell you what they're certainly not roughing it and some of these trucks the beautiful absolutely beautiful and they need to you know when they're doing the sort of mileage doing and as you said a little bit earlier on when they got the frustrations that they got on the motorway they need somewhere where they where you know it's comfortable and and spacious for them and that's what they've got with these trucks that sounds like it's going to be a good day today and tomorrow down the shades and it sounds great. Absolutely you know I'm sorry we're absolutely practiced. Radio Manchester now working here Media City we're really lucky to see all the celebrities that come in and out of the building especially those they're on the B.B.C. Breakfast So for the B.B.C. Northwest tonight so for you name it they're in with the guys from in the of the day we've had Stephen Fry in you name it Hollywood stars stars of stage and screen musicians all sorts but today I think top to all he's a showbiz legend a national treasure. And a FOX Yeah that's right Basil Brush is the Lowry today's doing 2 shows one for the kids this afternoon I think about 2 o'clock and one later to like what so well not so much for the kids one for the grown ups I think now we were all star struck when Basil came into the studios here at B.B.C. Radio Manchester if you have a look at my Twitter feed Stephen soul Stephen spoke with a view by the way ph Steve in Seoul you'll see my picture when I would start a stroke this morning by Basile brush the legend but he also popped into the studio to talk to Daryl Morris this morning here at B.B.C. Radio Manchester Dayrell started off by asking Basil yap bottlebrush about his 50 years in show biz Well how many years you're going back there you're going about 50 years back yeah everything all shapes and safeties lots of laughter just in the right place he's yeah. And of course what I saw in it but I would have just been what having seen it in place stays in it so to speak I say some of them sat there I've got to tell you of the last 5 weeks that's a good policy and so the reason you're here is because you've got a part of the show that you took to Edinburgh and that you are bringing to sulfa TONIGHT is here right tonight we will be at the lottery in the Keys theatre we've got to make beds and brush and list show which is basically the glue nap show I've got to say and especially for grownups over 16 and over 15 I think it would be better and basically take all the north south of the family found true and put them into wind chill with lots of naughty bits but also we do it with our family fun to the softer noon as well at $230.00 so if you've got T.V. Winkles bring them to the lovely family Fancher at $230.00 and then stick around to get rid of them and come see the grown up show at 8 o'clock for aliens exile I thin I don't have to Imus said the look very very well yes grew further this would be mighty Mr Darrow is grew fur over the crick's grannies do it all the time as they get older they grow these mustaches that hides the cracks and anybody who thinks have had a facelift they talk about the big. There it is very dangerous as my boot. People always say that you all you have had an incredible career haven't you needs you seen some amazing things and been some amazing places well. Yes I mean I think the most teams I have met with the queen and of course Lady Di I'm most proud of this I did the Tea Party for Harry and wheels when their 5 children came to Paris Yes and Lady and she may make a pretty good general just when if they should put the kettle on and I couldn't believe each maybe cup of tea at that meeting Jeanette magnet. And that was me and I'd left you know clues that actually because I'm doing the theatre on Windsor pantomime this year and we're doing a let in and opposite of course is the costal and every year it would comes to the show and I'm rather hooping that heady mate come along with make I promise I would take any photographs and all selfies with yeah and kind of clothes that certain when the little one is old enough I think we might do a little party for them all from Morehouse now it could be renamed faux Morehouse when I have my way of course I'm going to be a wonderful circle to clues but yes it's the name and of course we had ever on a program in the seventy's had epidemics to source Lulu all the famous ones I know of course the circle is continuing now because that again with my pencil brush unleashed an oversized we've got these massive resurgent nostalgia I think people trying to remember their childhood but also thinks of your age as him is today oh yes that's right who grew up with me on C B C Yes exactly are also coming to the show because my year is the possible show which will have been on C.B.C. In the monster Dave with. Yes I know it's really funny because you all when they say oh I grew up we present Russia in fact this is the grew up with in the seventy's you couldn't possibly have but they were watching the programs on C.B.C. At 730 on a Friday you see so it's wonderful because earlier this year I was. And in the tent they have got the key Winkles at the front then you've sort of got these these sort of like folks losing their hair from the seventy's and then the crammed with the 20 year old coming to do the Class B. Festival and in fact we need to be good tent Yeah it makes Yeah I'm going back next year for the 50th anniversary of the bit and we need a bigger tent because of all the troops are coming yeah yeah same time yeah so I got the shoot the next he's very good for all the age groups but we have got the Lynch where I read extracts from my book the new book it's 50 shades of orange. And you can imagine what goes on we got up on the stage and today we'll get to act out this book 50 Shades of orange and also and we do dating apps I've set up a new dating app for Scottish singles called Highland fling. For animals like myself we got 30 fins we do some dating apps we get suits on the stage and the family found and we get the kids on the stage at Win Prizes cream pies in people's faces now the shows are only an hour long right base or bring it to the legends the one and only Mr Basil Brush live in the studio this morning at B.B.C. Radio Manchester talking to our Daryl Morris in Catch of the lottery theater in Seoul for the afternoon for the kids and then for the adults a special new performance from Basil later on the staff then so brush a legend it's so bizarre talking to bottlebrush you've seen him on the telly basically all your life and here he is face to face with the look him very well have to say as well that we very well be B C radio Manchester come around to 221 look at the latest on the road said does he want today with all the football the cycling that's taking place right now he is belong to the polls. Do. With. I absolutely love her voice. That is my favorite song from her own I think his face . A nominal I think she was phenomenal such a sad and so much talent that John sat on and I had quite a few people did get press the Tonight Show on Friday. We were supposed to be there for all vs reasons I'm away all our resources were concentrated on bridge in the story at the guiding of course so we couldn't go to the. Park on Friday but we are going to rearrange it probably not this week I think it will be the week after we will make it to Preston and definitely definitely going to going to go there but John I'm really sorry I know the F.B.I. Actually was over there as well so I apologize for that but we will reach out to will you know sometimes these things happen and you will obviously appreciate that we needed to be a need to be a bridge but yeah we'll resettable that but nice to hear from the now then chill just have a listen to this this is an introduction to my next guest. Just a classic television fame cheer for a classic television show watch the Hill Street Blues and after a successful career as a screenwriter full of Miami Vice in the eighty's the old Robert craze turned to detective fiction He's a huge success with his novels featuring private investigators Elvis call and Joe Pike Robert said to me he's on Season 18 book now featuring them and he has no intention of stopping I love those guys to me I can't imagine anything that's more fun to write they're my heroes they're the kind of I wish I was over. They have a much more interesting life than I have is an Elvis based on. It's a view on life sure they all are you know writers by the nature of the art in a craft you have to be a cannibal you devour pieces of yourself in your experience and the people you know around you your life and you transmogrify those little bits and pieces into fiction so of course Elvis Cole being being my guy and Joe Pike being parts of me too they are sort of inseparable so in a dangerous man Jay moves to the full weight into the light see feel light because he's been a strong silent type of the right he's nice you know Elvis is very verbal Elvis says Funny he has a great personality is outgoing Joe parks a very internal man but that just because he's quiet doesn't mean that he's he has no interim life I think Joe is someone who has a damaged heart and I think he's looking for something to fill the hole and has in his heart and in a dangerous man it happens to be a young woman who is in terrible trouble only she doesn't know anything about it she doesn't know why she's in trouble she doesn't know what's happening because the book at its core is about secrets about the secrets we hold from ourselves and the secrets people hold from us so she's been told about have background but it's a lie and say that just one day I was thinking about these things that as all of us whoever you me everybody all we know about ourselves or our children what our parents tell us you know what our families and family groups tell us about ourselves well what if what if there are things that they don't tell us what if there are secrets that they keep from us and I became fascinated with that because I think everybody. Everybody has a little suspicion that that maybe mom and dad are keeping something from us. In her case they were and in her case it puts. It puts a character named Isabel. All in jeopardy and just by happenstance Joe Pa a cast happens to be on hand when some very bad people try to abducted Isabel and he manages to intercede there after he becomes responsible for her and he maybe he's the. Protector that she's always been looking for it isn't plain sailing Fuller is it it doesn't go smoothly after that no no no no they think he thinks it will be thinks it's own research as she these 2 guys try to kidnap or Joe stops stops them they go to jail should be over only it isn't it gets worse after not seeing one of your books it isn't isn't so and I never it's never over until it is finally over and you said you always start with the carrot said that you find incredibly interesting that you will make stops fast say that and is that how you were with is about that it is it is the notion that I like the fact that she's young and like the fact that she is in many ways innocent because all the troubles in her life were brought by the fact that there are secrets kept from her so the on the day this this 1st begins she has no idea what's happening she's totally totally lost and it's only by Joe's interceding in the thing and what Joe and then Elvis called his partner helped uncover through the course of the book that keeps her alive because Mom and Dad didn't quite tell her everything about who they were. And you come from 5 generations of police offices How did your career choice gave down with the family well not very well at all actually Dad wasn't plays was a a my my my father wasn't wasn't pleased with seeing my family and where I came from there was no one and no one in the arts we should say you know there were no writers there were no actors there were no directors so I was expected to to be like everyone else you know to do a real job to do the work at work at a refinery or plant or be a police officer and ever since I was 1012 years old I've wanted to tell stories I knew what I wanted to be I wanted I wanted to be a writer and. I have to say that when I finally committed to that you know you my 1st adult decision I'm going to commit to this to make writing my it went over like a brick it just did not do it in do well it was a pleasure to meet him there's more from Robert Cray's on the way you'll find out if you did and up accepting his career a decision not to come just after 2 o'clock is fine kind of she drives you crazy. She drives me crazy. What a great storyteller I'm what a great story he has. Anything pop something from a family you'll find out how and when it's song. 95 we gonna digital radio on B.B.C. . B.B.C. Radio. It's 2 o'clock hell I'm back you want to hear the latest news it's a Labor M.P. For her say she's written to the Prime Minister to ask for an inquiry into what caused parts of the dam Wally bridge to collapse Ruth George joined Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn as he met with residents earlier efforts to drain the water to a safe level continue within the village with the village expected to remain evacuated ental the end of the week at least misjudge also wants financial help from the government for local people whose lives have been disrupted the usual sort of compensation is for people's property when that stem aged by floods but they says different hopefully we can keep most of the properties out so intact and they'll be fine people are not able to get into work they're cut off behind right block so they're losing wages and losing money and that's where people are struggling to get by that's a real impact Lisa Wellman was on the front row at the residence meeting early yes she told us that she'd asked about how isolated the evacuees could access food and supply.

1000 new police officers Ningaloo Wales is a great opportunity to help keep communities safer it's not clear how many Greater Manchester Police will get but the prime minister says he wants a new office is in place within 3 years they call it the college of policing has welcomed the news but has warned of logistical challenges in training so many new officers and in Hopkins agrees we're creating 820 this year I have to say that has been a huge challenge for us given the amount of infrastructure that we stripped away because of the cuts over the last 9 years so you know having to put more people into the training school so it is a challenge it is a challenge but it's not one that we're going to shy away from a paedophile who made false allegations of murder and child sex abuse against senior politicians army officers and security officials has been jailed for 18 years the judge at Newcastle Crown Court told Carr beach here to keep people of the highest integrity and decency modern slavery set to take center stage on our screens as Coronation Street have teamed up with the Salvation Army to highlight the issue a storyline will focus around the character Alina who was working in a nail bar the hope is that the story which was produced to be factually correct will highlight the extent of modern slavery in the U.K. Tour and watch is the Northwest regional manager for anti trafficking modern slavery at the Salvation Army Coronation Street the fantastic opportunity to raise the profile that is a modern slavery and hopefully reach more victims to be able to find a way out of their situation and the weather Cloudy with rain at times tonight cooler as well with temperatures down to a low of 12 Celsius tomorrow will start off cloudy with some rain but it should be drier brighter later with top temperatures tomorrow between 16 and 19 southeast life from B.B.C. Radio Manchester. Least seem way to. Traffic So this time last night there was a bit of travel chaos what's it looking like on Friday evening though a very good. Steering better than we saw at this time yesterday night but it's for the moment I have got to bring you. As well beginning to ease off now as it tends to this time on a Friday that little bit earlier than the rest of the. Big breaks during that Q Now limits change. In places. And even the M 60 for a while but it's worth a bit of caution if you make the journey on the rails down towards the southeast still some service restrictions. Temperatures yesterday check before you travel and also trouble on the trams with no service on the airport line or the line because of the broken down to. Be an 8. To 9. Inches just. Well. 8 days to go until the start of the season and finally in the last hour. Barry can play their opening fixture against M.K. Dons. They've got the safety certificate from Barry Council and the safety advisory group so. That game is able to go ahead we still await information from the E.F.L. Who are still looking into Barry's ownership. Let us know on B.B.C. . 3 If you want to text message with the word Manc will hopefully be hearing as well from the New Plymouth midfielder. About his time a little bit later on what else is the 6 Michael Richards has retired a couple. A former city plays about him the cricket is happening again maintain the own beating I'm going to have a little review in a round up of Manchester United on City's pre-season Asia. Friday night 6. a 6 could even hope you well Friday night the weekend is coming the last preseason weekend before. The start of the E.F.L. Season so pre-season friendlies tomorrow the last chance for people to to shake off those cobwebs and to get down on what you've seen before the real the real stuff gets under way so if you're going somewhere tomorrow let us know B.B.C. Arm sport. Will hopefully see there's a few of us out and about as well tomorrow at different pre-season games around greats and Manchester bought obviously today the big news we've had in the last half an hour Barrie have had that Safety Advisory Group meeting the very council and they've given a Saviour's if you get to Barry So that means Barry will be able to play their opening game this season all being well they can in theory play at the lane because of that so that is that is good news and we want to hear from you Barry fans at B.B.C. Sport The other big news of the day though was that former munched City defender Micah Richards has announced his retirement at the age of 31 is obviously had some injury troubles he was most recently Aston Villa but the former England international is now decided to call time his career is taking up a role city though off the field as well as doing a bit of punditry work so on B.B.C. Radio munches and I we've got 2 of his former teammates with the lead Croft and even how you do in. A very good very good I've also got a net I'm a newer net of good even so you. Don't know. Well that's what we do here we bring you all together riyals together again the old teammates Well I thought I'd get you both on because. You all came through the ranks city you know you were all there pretty much the around the same time going through the youth ranks so I just wanted to know from from both of you leave you want to go 1st what was it like at that time when you were all coming together. You know there's so many an economy with life lotion at the time there's so many of you know the likes of myself as David Island NY make and then even some all the lot so there's a great there's a lot of those real break then you know in and around the 1st game of the time and it was a great place to make. A name what would you say would you say the same. Yet very much so it was around the time when the call becomes different to how it is now but you could see you pay into the given opportunity is ever more than the right. It's quite. Impressive obviously the club. Now. In the academy at that moment was really excited and Mika was a pretty hot prospect as well as an easy youngest I think he still he's still the youngest captain plays a captain my city and he you know he was it was I remember him sort of burst onto the scene and been really hotly tipped What was he like as a player when you knew him sort of from a young age. Well for me it's funny remark that the. 2 years younger than me. When I was in the 711. And the human rights groups when he 1st came into place and Smithfield. He was the guy he was always and that long ago right. I didn't know. Right black hole kind of got really excited about but it is true. Very quickly. Is established in the. Pocket for national side and you will observe that. So well this month. It was just going to believe you could get. That many people. And that's what he's going. Incredible. Carrying out is not impressive how do you remember Lee Kroft Do you remember that sort of time as well and gee I guess interesting that you say that made him they played center midfield and he was switched you with with i decision made by managerial is that his decision was what happened there. Sorry constantly it's a moment. It's never really down to very tough players it's more skill than money and when I was coming through even with the in charge to get me back on the board he called me from sent back to right. On all summer. And one more opportunity options to get into the team because at the time myself Mike and lots of the people. Personally were going to break into the side but that was because. At the time were credible plays for the football club and it was always going to be one of the even bigger stuff that's because they were always available. To try and stay. Play out of those guys is what your marriage is going to have been but the way football was by Brant Mike. You know the change of position for him and he's given the best of experience the side events when you're in the side and it's possible to do so it was good. Yeah across the county do you think then you know when you when you look back on that time and him and him sort of burst onto the scene you think he fulfilled the promise they had as a youngster. Yeah that's why I think you know I went on to play for England obviously and had such a great career as say. You know I think the only thing I would say about you know Michel is that you know then with the injuries I think he could have played for England a lot longer and. Prolong this career he can take nothing away from from what it sees. Yeah absolutely I suppose to you know call time on the career at 31 and look back on it and have England caps and have kept amongst the city all of the you got to say I mean it's a great success isn't it fantastic. So yeah that I also wanted to ask you both quickly about city in preseason what what what do you make of them we're going to have a little round of of both you know I don't say is pre-season tour in full later on in the show but just what have you made of them what you've seen of them. I know they had a little bit of bad press over in China but is that just sort of one of those things. Go on they don't let you go slow. I'll change my thank you Dr Mike. You both so polite. Thank you is obviously very important when it's not the on and all of the people that don't perform and you know the current season doesn't guarantee that you'll do well in the season just talked about it could be equal how . Was required of them to see. That great but like I say it's like the start of all hope for me and you see that blood in youngsters again and those are play plenty. More seen by the courthouse and not just with. The hope of the future the big picture was in a good. And crafty degree yet all the things that. Offend others say there is play if you know youngsters you know they get a chance at Nate and said during pre-season and you know the you know not necessarily the results that matter the moment by smoke and the minutes and then getting the match fitness up and I'm sure comes you know the 1st game this season say they'll be ready and on another onslaught to retain the title a title after them have Guardiola really into that and he saw this described cell phone as one of the most talented players ever seen and I was just wow this is a complement coming from a guy who had a little messy. That's not true but it's a book about a bill yeah exciting times I had to say certainly Well gentlemen thank you so much for coming on 4 to 6 tonight native in a way. And recrossing the place yeah go ahead. The one thing which would make up about Marco for is good at what the player use even better that you own the place of the friendship. The way that. People who grew up Marc Rich. From how you was not just on the field but off the field and out the same ability go got the luck. You get credit sense of truth family. Economy that we have to describe good quality create good to great cause. Like a lot of the builders great like one body of one human is quite. A many but a big one. But a great for the market. It's a great I'm a complete so quote This was well. Well made and thanks as a great trivia and I suppose yeah it's a testament to what how highly sought it said See the IT asked him back and all the sort of tributes we've seen today on social media on Twitter saying he's always a blue and E.'s coming back to work for the club off off the field so certainly you know that is a tribute in itself isn't it. But I appreciate that I appreciate you both coming on and paying you tributes to Michael Richards who's a nicer time at the age of 31 the 4 months the city defend name an eerily Cross thank you very much speech soon. Cheers on B.B.C. Radio Manchester sporting 6 and is the news Michael Richards announcer time and another player known locally as well as announcer time and say Marvin saw Adele the full A Bolton player as retired at the age of just 28 to playing for Burton Albion most recently listen back to an episode of the wanderer podcast where ever you get a podcast from we spoke to him very very recently and. Give you a bit of an insight into why he's had some of the problems that he's had with with football and his rocky relationship with his career I think is a fantastic listen so if you go back. From Marvin. You can listen to me in conversation with Darryl Morris is just. Trying to time once again to check on what's going on on the road with Shepard. Improving at the moment not until when you have had some horrendous queues. All of which have disappeared which means if you heading home reporters about 10 or 15 minutes ago. It was. Also improved. Things. 56 as well. In the bulk of the. Disruption because. Before you travel and on the matter laying on the trams we got no service between. Because. We also had reports of antisocial behavior on the. Lines. Between Northern more if you looked at 102 when I. Question. 3. With. Choosing one of the new. Blossoms B.B.C. Radio much to introducing band of course you girlfriend 6 could even longer keep the messages. On 3 double 3 on the textile message with the word man plenty on Barry we'll get to that very very soon but 1st Lancashire are in in action again tonight in the T 20 blast off to beating Yorkshire last night over the pen and I caught up with Scott Reed at Old Trafford a little bit earlier on to preview the game didn't have the kind of final bowl drama that we've had in previous games but there was an element of uncertainty towards it I think up until probably the last 2 or 3 overs a felt like. When they put the chance down to take Nicklaus piranhas but he really well for Yorkshire he was dropped by Stephen Croft. Maybe this is the opportunity that. Ultimately didn't I actually thought it was a fantastic. Performance from. The 1st 2 games and it was back to last night was a. Very well drilled T 20 side at the moment and that was very very. Tough. To go in front of 18000. And win and they did really well. I mean. The best. So far well they were definitely the best T 20 side last season because they will. Show. In the semifinal. And went on to win the competition so they had a great year. The course of that competition last year I think they were really. Very good. And. With some really exciting young in particular was a real star for them as was Pat Brown. Who dominated the competition last year was the leading wicket taker in the competition. Produce themselves. Quite nicely with the overseas signings of FERGUSON So I think there are very good. And they beat. And they were outstanding on the evening so I think this will be a. Challenge. They know the ground well they win lots and lots of T 20 games here they know how to win games and. I would expect if. You say lots of game. 3 in 4 days this is the 2nd is that not a concern or do they do they just sort of get. Away. Didn't choose to. Then go to. Them play. And then. Tomorrow. It is. The nature of T 20 cricket they do carry a very big squad. To get through it. So they can absorb a few injuries bring play. Games and train if you will be much if you want. To get out there are. Probably the most uncertain of the. Finally. Too much of it England Ireland it happened it was just madness it was. Driving around. In the 1st day of a Test match and to win it by the close of. Seemingly quite comfortably. I think. There's a bit of. Second time around. I mean the conditions. Absolutely. Conditions are the very best. Very good 1st class cricket not international. I mean England winning is absolutely what should have happened. To get to the point of England winning but they. Don't have a top 3 that's working at the minute. Good Absolutely. Huge concern. And they're going to go into. The best. Cricket. With. The brittle top 3. I think ultimately. Win the Ashes because I think so yeah I think it will be a. Strong paper but I think they're pretty. Vulnerable. In English conditions and. I think you. Can get. Difference of across the 5 Test match series great form Australia of our wonderfully talented team and I mention the got a fantastic bowling unit and. Of course they can come good and they can get runs so I think it be a really fought hard for series. That I've got concerns about I. Think most probably have well wait and see. You very much enjoyed tonight's. Gesture you are hoping for a good crowd again the game on Sunday against Durham here they're just under 14000 which is fantastic for a Sunday afternoon against Durham So Friday night the 1st home Friday night fiction of the T 20 blasts this year I think I could be open for something around about 1415000 again so fingers crossed whether stays off from going to good night and all because of that super over no. It is quite true. That the attendance is year on year in year of got bigger and bigger and bigger almost a 1000000 people watched the competition watched the T 20 blast so it is well supported but I do think there's been a bit of a kick on a flight from. Scott Reed capacity crowd hopefully tonight at Old Trafford just about to get under way they are there of course I was speaking to Scott earlier on this evening before Lancashire announced that. Will has signed he has signed a new contract a contract extension keeping him. For another 3 years so great news. As they go into this 20 game against. Thanks weenie next Wednesday I'm joined by the Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police in Hopkins. Visit. Issued a personal apology to the family. Who was shot dead in 2012 other officers believed he was armed with a go along. With his contract extended until the end of 2021 he's responsible for keeping Great so much to safe it's your chance to get on the questions that really matter to you in the hot seat with Mike Sweeney next Wednesday from 9 B.B.C. Radio Manchester. B.B.C. Radio Manchester sports at 6. Promised you hearing from the forbearing midfielder Danny May He's been talking about his difficult departure from gig lane to join Plymouth. And if. It will not I don't deserve what they went through over last. You know they should be looking forward to a good season. And also feel it is difficult for them to to look forward to. Because it is a problem. So there Danny may have fallen Berry midfielder potentially some good news as the safety advisory group of issued a safety certificate for lane for Barry to play their opening fixtures Mike says on Twitter top fella Danny an absolute privilege have seen you know Barry shit. Brick says Washington I'm a player was worth the admission fee alone will miss you I gave down a plenty of love as a safe for Danny Mayer on Twitter B.B.C. Arm sport if you want to get in touch Craig says always be a legend a gig I do wish him the best he should be playing in the Championship out loud not in League 2 as he has dropped down a division to play for Plymouth back with former Barry manager Ryan LOWE So we wait to see how Barry get their season under way and with all the difficulties of how they have a pre-season friendly tomorrow away at Paul Vale now the latest from United in City's pre-season tours a bit of a round up from Asia come in for you next in sports 6. in the T 20 and of course off to a decent enough start to take the 1st wicket after 2 and a bit overs were $32.00 for one now off to $44.00 and a half overs Trafford Bowl Bible common shell. On the B.B.C. Sport website and app all through the evening however long it takes so now we're going to do a bit of a pre-season tour diary as United travel back to Europe from Asia and city remain there for one more game tomorrow they go to Japan so how have both sides been getting on with heard a lot about Maj the United to take the remaining unbeaten throughout their rare their 4 games most notably most recently against Tottenham and 9 goals scored for united all of them involving in some way an academy graduate from the clubs is looking pretty good for the red side of the city where united stand here Asia tour has come to a close out here in Shanghai in the final leg my 4th on the tour so far probably games left but the main bit the tour very exciting in terms of how we prepare and his team we can see that the players the sharp are and we've definitely seen an emphasis on high level press in intensity in our game and in all of the games we've seen the biggest one of what was taught them because it was easy against Perth Glory easy against the police at Leeds United side an easy against that in Milan side who didn't even have a strike about specially against Spurs. Really saw the intensity in it and I tell you what the front free looks like it could be really exciting the emergence of Mason Greenwood looks fantastic he got himself a couple of goals on the tour as well and the emergence of obviously the obvious answers such as young Chong and Angel Gomez looks really really exciting and a little bit of a. Decision to be made though without the 2 in Xavi he's impressed on the tour as well does he go out on loan or was the best suited to stay at Manchester United and fight for his place this year will be decided not but fans are upbeat fans are very upbeat but they're not they're not clouded by the fact that it is pre-season and yes we've looked good but we're under no illusions that this squad is still not good enough to compete at the highest level in the Premier League we've seen not lost the. We're actually weaker in the midfield area because obviously under Herrera's left hope awkward situations do need to resolve in as well and be very interesting to see what happens I think he's going to knuckle down and probably stay on enough to produce some of his best but will to get the Old Trafford faithful behind him I'll certainly be behind him if he stays he's our best player overall a very positive top of the underfeed only conceded one goal and scored 9 so that's not positive. To me players involved or scored in pretty much all of the games as well which is fantastic still some more business to be done and if it doesn't get done it could be more of the same as last season battling for 4th slush if you don't get reinforcements so you go an optimistic view from Shanghai from flex from united stand who's been on the support of 6 a B.B.C. Radio Manchester before we hear more from him sure as the season progresses what about the blue side I it's David Mooney from the blue podcast here and looking at the pre-season I think it's been fairly good for City fans. You know Rhodri seems to a settled in quite well they've they've not had the most challenging games but they've been getting some fitness back in the legs Kevin de Bruyne a looks like even as business as well since he's come back from his injuries like he suffered last season he looks like he's really going great guns in this pre-season I think the signs are positive simply because he didn't really need to do that much at the end of last season they were in a very strong position from you know having averaged 99 points over 2 seasons they've been scoring goals for form for the last couple of seasons as well you wouldn't expect any major surgery needed so I think I think things are going quite steadily the only interesting things you know I'd say for next season is it's not not often that you go into a season where your expectations for are lower than what they achieved the year before so you know as a City fan you know you think of previous seasons if you'd just been promoted you'd hope to stay up be better in the previous season if you you know if you if you were . Pushing for European hopes to qualify in the kind of a few high places in the league if you'd won the title you'd look to it hope to defend it well you know for next season they won everything they called barring the Champions League so to expect them to do better than they did last season when everything is just on realistic. David Mooney from the Blue Moon podcast Thanks to both of those flex on David Mooney from unite and City respectively both of them given as their own flavor of the pre-season tour diaries they. There's been going on obviously out in Asia both sides touring around city one more game to play out in Japan the playing Yokohama tomorrow at around 1230 and they return home already flown back to play Christiansand in Norway one of only going to socials former sides so there we go munched United and managed to city both back in action not next week and the weekend after that's when Premier League action gets underway when the transfer window shorts in Rome will surely know a lot more about how this season is going to shape or plenty still to fall into place isn't there will pull pub ago will he not potentially top of that list so just before we hand over to the radio Manchester just time to tell you as well that Lang should get another wicket 34 for 2 was the latest score a few moments ago 37 for 2 after 5 just nearly 6 overs so Lancashire looking good restricting was to share so far in their runs and all of that is available for you on the B.B.C. Sport website and out ball by ball commentary throughout the night so sport at 6 back again on Monday you got 2 big match commentaries over the weekend Warrington Wolves in a Challenge Cup action tomorrow against whole F.C. New Castle News I'm Miles I speak thank you very much Miles. New Castle only place the northeast. As Duncan what more than some of those managers Jack Ross has a fully fit squad to select from for Saturday's League One clash with Portsmouth I say fully fair to obviously Aiden McGeady as that put injury but he's been playing through that so far the Newcastle midfielder Mody Army says moving on in football is part of the job it is looking less and less likely that he will be offered a new deal at the club the Liverpool manager can club says last night's Manchester derby result was what he expected as city be united to return to the top of the Premier League the Newcastle Falcons prop Mark Wilson says they haven't been doing anything different in training out of tomorrow night's huge game against Southampton director of rugby Dean Richards has described it as a must win game for comes struggling at the bottom of the Premiership Wilson says they have to forget the significance of the match when they're on the pitch to be commentary. So I was picturing outside it should be maybe drive a bit of temperature 3 degrees Celsius a dry bright starts tomorrow with sunny spells. Cloud and some rain later at highs of 14 degrees Celsius. So plenty of traffic out there on the a wall in the Western bypass Morrisey not which improvement yet northbound some delays from Gateshead up to Newcastle starts about Dunston continues past Metro Center I would live in London fly by about Canton part of Kingston park had reports of an accident and called insane looks at the accident there on the A one north of Kingston park sing a bill that northbound they spoke about where the queue is but something that's still pretty heavy slow from Gosford Park all the way down to West I hope on the stump the roads to the delay after the Metro Center through Dunstan heading down towards the angel a 19 not receive much improvement yet the delays both ways are crammed into more from around about Bastille that slow coming into ponsi island away from the amp or else he is busy We have accused coming into a long Benson from Gosforth quite busy in central Gosford as well in out of Newcastle it certainly hasn't improved much yet after early problems on time bridge we did have an axe an accident wasn't at too long but the skewing traffic in its wake it's back at the 167 up to about Cow Hill really it's a pass town more than on to the center motorway all the way down to the time so very busy like. Coming to Newcastle just been rode out on the A 167 up to the counter a light still heavy he lays round Walker where else is is he was part of Newcastle traffic building up a touch around Gateshead ASCII road still looking busy on the sensors and the else happening get caught in traffic if you spot something I want I want to do. 90 isolationist I'm Simon James B.B.C. New Castle essential north east travel. Advice total support of B.B.C. With Simon pride of market beauty and Steve Howe we let's read a few more of your text messages out Liam in Washington says that last suddenly the caller sums up where we are as a club he is sick of supporters like me by the way who are moaning at the present position of uncertainty I hear sick of people moaning at players for not giving their all he is moaning at genuine supporters like me that go every week like they have done for the last 30 years and more that call of us happy where we are as a club saying we are moving forward and we can go again. To morrow or next season it's a losing defeatist mentality and some of these players are the manager there is no tomorrow next season winners do not settle for 2nd best a badge and Roy Keane the aforementioned Graeme series of Steven Gerrard with attitudes like that we are a small club with fans like that deluded fans as Liam in Washington. Pull a little to something different angles when they said Well look I don't think. That's what they're saying I don't think he's criticizing. People can have an opinion but I think when the call is for the money. While all the songs are very good I thought I was fortunate how fortunate 2nd or 2 times my While I know actually look look how well I'm taking it goes but it's because it's happened only 2 times Interestingly we've got a message from him terribly says Simon this pub a bit left field I used to watch the wacky races as a kid stay with him here I want to take dust they to wait just once but it never happened now I see Steve how it's a modern day Dick that's that could you give some closure to this by blowing the whistle when Marco is talking so Steve Wynn's just once just once. Took me over took place during Well I did all that you've took it quite badly again you've said you're still how I mean it's not just that you're going well isn't and no I'm not I'm just I'm I'm laughing at the fact that you go it's not really about that hour but there was that because it didn't happen to you Week in week out if somebody is torturing you and you get in Spanish torture with the giant Chinese residues drip drip drip Yeah but you know if it happens once in a blue moon you don't mind it but if it's happened constantly every week you're going to flip the lid I think I think you react better when you're the whistle blower when you're speaking actually sometimes you don't when you get basic whatever the whistle goes no matter who it interrupts he goes nuts I think that's the job because it's normally always me as I said it would happen and we came in week out you're going to lose a lot I call it see you but if it's all about how you live how you are if you look at me I'm accepting good gris nonsense they. There is no way says Gol is because we have tickets to give away for every Sunday and that means hassle League match on B.B.C. Castle we've done it all season we'll do it till the end as well that was less of course the queue to call now some of them take on Portsmouth at the Stadium of Light this weekend a pair of tickets to the match will be yours if you're lucky enough to get through answer a question correctly obviously people knew what the whistle meant there's a bit of a queue forming but remember people get the question wrong if you look at a chance so over 802346565 is the number you need might still be worth calling cause of free you can find all the terms and conditions over on the B.B.C. Castle web page we're going to start with Gareth it was very quick off the mark Good evening Gareth. Yes. Gareth so huge batch against Portsmouth the weekend after all automatic promotion is still a possibility isn't it yes well not all of the change it is not so you fancy being there parity gets up for grabs are you ready for a question oh yeah some people do homework out of these you know. We don't know much. And I was. OK let's see how you get on some of those last hold match against Portsmouth It was a long time ago back in December 2009 it finished one all Darren Bent scored for Sunderland in the last minute a Portsmouth player who would later join Sunderland scored the equaliser and was then sent off so what a memorable end to the game but I want to know who that player was. A young. And Johnny did have a Portsmouth. But no it wasn't Johnny I'm afraid so we're going to move on to Michael who is waiting to come on next to no Michael my probably all here not bad at all Michael ready to try going to Paris it's here I am from this game against Portsmouth this weekend a match of course we will have commentary up here on B.B.C. Newcastle sometimes last home match against Portsmouth December 2001 all it finished Portsmouth player who later joined Sunderland scored the equaliser and was then sent off who was that player when it was him it was in the last minute you missed people and he was. Michael it was quite a queue of other people waiting behind you in case you slipped up but you remember Emily I think you took a shirt off than if it was a 2nd yellow I think most women do it was 2 years in rule Portsmouth scored in the last minute because I think the fall score the winner against us as well I think was the year before what you know what. I wondered whether some people might think of the phone as a potential answer to that question but you were usually for that's all he said you said all other ways. So I know that's kind of the way to go and I've always I've also no question yeah well I know that for so many draws a season that everybody knew was votes the situation being in the last 2 years were part of one thing with this team got a lot of lives. Overseas some of them were not good enough to clear high levels will not but there's one thing this team I was going to matches last season that was what I didn't want to go to some of the games because I've seen you seen clears last season yesterday and that's one thing we kind of criticize this lot because they do put it yesterday. But going all the yes I mean I've seen reports the court of law to the very look at the last minute call against Burton if you think there's a lot of it got lost sight and many put the ball they actually stopped that the 3 that defenders of the thought it was that were not clear how I would the referee missed that he put the ball across the country he said I stumbled into it did me in not to cross now I don't look well in front of them. Company that weekend truculent would bring a look back and forth probably but within the 1st hour. So it's not all B.S. No it isn't is that you know the being looked of to Win 7 on the trot the paid good but the you that out of many a bit look as well. You know as you said I think it's I think the atmosphere look at I was at the game on Good Friday and the atmosphere was absolutely cracking. The new flags and the banners that do it are the really great now and I love the new. Deck owls at the pool on the on the Roker I did look great I think if we get the atmospheric rockin and get beyond the lots over the can come up with a good result mobile I think I think so too Liz I know all teams get in you can go on up I think now clears mitten Suman we have yeah yeah yeah it was probably why it was in just critics can you get an injured Mickey to get in the cosmos thing and get McGwire has been in yeah what was the No what was logically it everything that's in you doesn't want to I mean we've gotten more money yeah you see and I think what's happened is yeah we're still up there I think what's happened is that should have be you know have been what more why Greg McCrary indium McGwire as you front far you should have beat that we should have would have been enough to get us home but we've only ever really had 2 of them fit this 2 or 3 of thing at the same time if it's one thing this season I mean obviously a little bit of a criticism would never trust anybody this you know never not really not really what been winning games they 22 ones 2 where all the teams of still being in the beames a lot of games and I wouldn't tell and obviously have scored a lot many big lies against those rich well kill teams all but I think we missed too many like forward players who can make a difference. Michael Yeah thank you very much should they try to build a savings in the competition where they go stand and I will make sure not to pick up those tickets Michael yet another way they're here on B.B.C. Newcastle radio for the whole thing came from Zambia common to a new place like New Castle It was very different compared to back home I'm joined by Steinem Street actor writer musician rapper can make a name moaning so we can release a show passed away when I was 14 in school I was still in and then I used to listen to a lot of Eminem he went through a lot and you know he pulled through so I teach kids how rock song right in the sing in performance in general song when I'm seeing these kids dreams as well I kind of get access. To see itself in the morning from B.B.C. New Castle radio for that you'll see me in your peak and you're listening to total support of baby sit you cast with Simon pride Steve Howard and Marco. Text is coming from in there it was his Thank you Simon I'm at peace now. That's the only message and nothing to do with me as you well know the referee's whistle goes all around them and the referee Yeah of course there is a lot it. Takes to complain about you Steve. Says you've been saying 2 times you said twice 3 times is an American thing when I Merrick and says Dave say twice not 3 times so what I WANT WHEN I WANT well within reason the calls within oh yes of course the limits of the parameters Yes yes obviously let's now it's up to Richard is on the rise and you Castle fun Hi Richard . I time I do I file out I Richard hello my name Richard I'm OK Actually I know we can't talk about Iran is situation where you can only really want to stay out of it if you well you know I was I was listening to it. In a very picturesque place and I was actually in the gardens of the Alhambra which Mark will welcome this on his visit there you know the uniform Yep the one thing I'd say I'm not going to go away that was called opportunity but this there are plenty of examples out there with a large degree with the clearance who rushed the bin suffered an excessive force and it came and has later on in the game actually gone off with an injury and yeah probably cause injury. And who knows whether the hamstring. It was caused by. Excessive force again somewhere on we'll never know will. I wasn't in on that argument about a good scoring opportunity but I was crashing we had about excessive force against a neuron but I believe that if you want unless and you really want to come back in and I mean it's a valid argument that the excessive force one again it's the interpretation of the referee whether a dame's excessive force or not that's why I don't even think well you know very as common in Mexico. If you go to Eagle go to Vienna look at it and whilst I would say 90 percent of the fans might go back to excessive force and should have known the referee looked at it and they might associate he might say no you're still going to get disagreements if that decision on Saturday had gotten to V.A.R. And that at the end of it the referees still decide it ought to be decided to play Hello card play sort of are not. The days and honestly with be are coming in next season I tell you honestly there's going to be so much too hard about it it is going to be absolutely ridiculous definitely go nuts there's no pride in that I disagree with everybody and I mean. Yeah Mike Gallagher a former referee and of course the referee on the day as well thought that So I would imagine other referees probably would also yes there is only one of them or only one band in mind if I think of name 3 or 4 that only one of them has played the game play the game yeah yeah you know what you look but I'm not going to tell you what the next time you're on the card or in the office I'm going to block you off like that and let you out and see how you react and what the size of a model is Harris that will be a block of wood but I look forward to the tribunals over that as well. I should not have learned as a kind of I've given you a 50 minute warning. I wouldn't want to I would just do it just pop out of one of the doors and I know you wouldn't catch me well that's the whole point that's why you do it you need to get a catchy and sweet lady about. You have done with your own question have it right Richard where were we so when I was going to maybe talk about was some point which you made this evening or like your idea of move to maybe getting a chance. To be a sort of thinking that as a comma was made earlier. But it doesn't look the real deal for me as a Premier League player. And the players that we were talking about as well and not Paul Kennedy real disappointment for me this season yeah i'll I was listening to the B.B.C. Monday night to look back and this year there was a. Sort of a South American pondered on this in the Can he was not happy in Newcastle his family wanted to be at least back in London and I think he just simply as last year healthy. In looks is all coming into not so long ago but how much of a chance but to me. It's great passer of a pole but it's slow and I think that's starts is weakness to me Steve. But I think for me I agree with what I did say about art so I just for me I don't think he comes on and makes a real impact on a game and I think it changes the course of the game or he has a current member. And obviously if a car remember that he hasn't done it very often and I think for Shelvey I like Shelby I think Shelby is a good football player but I think about at the moment before the club actually see if I think the manager was one players that were going to be working my socks off for the team and sort of get in positions where they would typically breakdown now whilst I would say that I was probably. Probably the best player on the ball and he's plus and I think again some of these passing can go a little bit astray and therefore it's the ball is precious and you want to try and keep possession as best you can and I think manager might have been looking at a couple of things why didn't really pick Shelvey ball one of the other reasons was the fact that he's done really well he hadn't done really well long stuffies and so is the army. I agree I think the thing is for me when I look at Shelby long star shut Shelby's reinjure and his is far better than Shelby in it and I think it is puzzling doctors injury was actually exceptional I'll go on as well and you can comment if you want the army out for me seem to be a player who plays and here's. One last season and to see you know. There was one part last season where he even dreadful many came but even he was and he was all over the piece like a month possessed but you want consistency from a clear and. Interesting I don't know what you think it up point is well on or not I think you but I think you might be right on that one I've seen him at times and he's been maybe not the best and I've seen him at times and each been brick in everything Corp you know he was always put me foot Any getting back it was me again just talking to him he was Dude it would pass that would head off and it would brick play all which was invaluable for the team that was always just right in front back for which help the team then you know try and quickly brick I do agree with the fact that that has been the case with them kind of in spells I did actually mention at the start of the intro at the start a program of Newcastle's clear of the season I mean obviously we've talked about Deion we've talked about shelving it did not really going to be near a ball who would you go or would you go get we give us 2 or 3 players that will be there or thereabouts for Player of the year. Well to be honest like I was made the most impact to me because. It brought another players to be better players are I would. That the team clear I would think season we're on because I think it was to a different level. And. I could go with that kind of just here final thing OK let me run before Simon cut it out and. I think it's been clear to tee by Rafa if you keep further up the field situations which we saw at the weekend blocked off that whole feline clear going to block a more closed penalty area the opposition are going to have some big problems OK Richard thank you very much indeed could come out on that stage. I listen I think I'm Iran is going to be a major threat I'm delighted he came when he did because I think he gets that under his belt it's a pretty obviously easy to get me some string strain I think Yasmeen a major impact but I wouldn't see that he's clearly because he's basically just really come in I think you'd be looking at players from a like kind of Shaw brought care Richie you know been there consistently pretty much all season and given the wrong answer he's kept it but he says Can I just chip in on the album on challenge. Which should have been a sending off as a pretty show yet lead would have been foaming because he got sent off for a little shirt pull that was pretty close to the halfway line against Wolves at the head of referees says Kev is a sudden fun heads the reason we get out hash tag refs against a 2 O'Reilly. That's just what kind of that he said I don't know who he's right Mike Riley might have chosen him for I don't know who he's referring to but that's what he says hash tag rats against the Dave it's a conspiracy. No no I mean I mean like I said I call replaying 0802 syllables 656 guys start your text with B.B.C. And send it to 8 trouble 3 takes charge the standard never a great C.M. Producing who is a babysitter case national radio precinct B.B.C. New Castle review for the North East. Echo I just press the button to tell you that I think I was not sure that was really the house you would whistle that's now advertisements you do whatever up you just stopped it was a perfect time to do that I literally stopped for somebody like a man not even I would be right Leo not on stage that was really hard just today you've got to get it in somehow pride I mean you're just trying to move the so all but it needs to be moved on well it's amazing how you don't want to move around you when you all mention and drool you can finish what you were going to say like I said whilst the referee was right in some respects I believe in my opinion it was the wrong decision you were very brave I would have spoken again. Can I just get you finish now that I want to interrupt again. Just trot on Okey dokey. So. You wrestling as I was right well we're going to change sports now Stephen or I still enjoy this moment we go for a bit of a tangent that's next later that's a bit later on a different Now one of your favorites we had a double bill of Newcastle versus Leicester a couple of weeks ago to remember the city's rugby and football teams both clashed and night yes there was one victory each on that occasion Newcastle on the football asked about the rugby so we need a decider and tonight at the world you could championships we have just that wall since Gary Wilson is up against the Jester from Leicester himself 3 time world champion Mark Selby and Christine Reid is at the Crucible for B.B.C. The cast are going to be Kristin Even Simon I feel like I'm interrupting and I want to get in the way. You know you're all right it's just him it's just you know it's fine I'll not go on your part. Victimizes me Christine to be honest OK it's all my Euros and you know you can only see the neutral observer if you get on your side in 1st. You left a voicemail to cheer you left a voicemail and you will call me and the voicemail was some sort of like on the wall a muffled talk or something that was something but it wasn't good. I think you know your Creator got. Out of the code it was something which I know what it was but I don't see it because I think I might have been a bit rude because in the voicemail but I was frustrated you hadn't answered anyway we're going off on a tangent Christi I do apologize I'm all in for tangents and that's Gary Wilson and Mark Selby said I will say that you have 3 days off after his 1st round match and he probably needed an exhibit America in March that included the longest frame in World Championship history which just happen to be the deciding for him of course and it absolutely is plainly. She was 9 no. Drama here the crucible we thought we'd seen it all in the final frame as you mentioned the longest in Crucible history 70. 9 minutes and 31 seconds was to be precise with the exact time and the record by 3 minutes you know who you know who held the record before is a case of course question for you there is a good question it was probably someone back in the day like tariffs or something like that oh yeah you think so but now you know I'll give you a clue you might mention them in the interim. Doug you Martin Yeah. Who did I mention that celebrate the just there you go. Again I guess Marco for you and I when we spoke to Mark after he was just very relieved to get rid of the record he was happy to carousel that I certainly didn't want it back and we kind of joked with him you know once if you and Gary go even longer and he was he was really keen for that not to happen so yeah I can still be known as a bit of a bit of a butler and a bit of a bit of a safety player and if you were comparing he was a big it's a big last a fun Simon and he's definitely more of the Claude while Lester than the Brendan Rodgers LESTER So it's going to be hot favorites and I think is the what sort of form is he in going into this much concerns about season he's not the best season in terms of his stellar So performances he's lost the world number one ranking to running sort of and he's not rocked at the time also the usually does but this is kind of where he turns around of The Crucible you know he's won here 3 times before as you mentioned at the start and you know he had a bit of a scarily special how much he was 51 down 1.2 The world number 67 Jan tongue of China but he came out so well $107.00 and he was kind of steady just all about getting through that 1st round and he'll certainly be odds on favorite against Kerry tonight and the pressure's off Wilson in that sense isn't it but if he could win it would probably be able to be one of the biggest wins of his career going further than he's ever been in the world championships he only done that by get to the 2nd route but it would be a huge boost to his profile of his career generally wouldn't it yes I mean if you get through to the course of farms in terms of monetary value that's $50000.00 pounds before you've even started because finally you guarantee that So in terms of the financial boost to Gary Wilson's career that B.H.P. Caliber of Mark's caliber of play such as Mark Selby I mean that's going to be a massive confidence boost to him and as you say without a doubt the biggest win of his his career a couple of times before. He's always come out on top but you know it's a longer session. 3 over 3 sessions this much so Gary's going to have a chance to play myself into the match you know if you can hang on so you can't sales as we showed against Purcel we can battle it through and you can come out on top Thank you Kristin just briefly if you have the latest scores on the ongoing 2nd round much as I would like to hear them as well please yes Neil Roberts and SEAN MURPHY They kicked off their much this afternoon to former winners of this championship Robertson lead in a high quality in counts of 53 and a couple over the 1st round matches the ones finished today Ali Carter he was asked 16 on the final 1st round match will be completed tonight Carol Wilson need for more frames again Scott Donaldson 1st a 10 Wilson lead in Donaldson 62 Christine thank you very much indeed appreciate it . See that was well worth having Yeah it was a double whammy Yeah great I'll be honest Next up we've got 22 minutes past it's quite ready to see European football of the year he did yes we did actually the question again yeah thing is it's not how the previous Harrington I this is guess with Graham and here's tonight's question who is the only footballer to play for Liverpool and Manchester United and Manchester City and which for Manchester United players have won the prestigious European football of the year. Just a bit of fun if you think you know those answers state what a triple 3 beginning a message with the letters B.B.C. Or you can tweet at B.B.C. Newcastle David is said to text don't worry pride you're not the only one who switches Steve off whenever he's on the debate already Sky Sports News programme I change the channel or press mute button and our projection is for one on Saturday were a lot better than Poppy says David was on the phone. I'm sorry I turned it off what was said Are you good that's a bit you let not a better reaction jocular not quite as angry sort of. Like the way sometimes I react sort of like to be fair you would be you without That's I don't like Charlie Sheen I'm not I'm changing I'm not I'm not at you know there weren't going to anyone say gee. He says hi guys great show I did Steve used to spit his dummy out when he played professional football and the ref blew his whistle that he could play to the ref then that he only because it is the only player so what he kicked somebody yes he did more and constantly this year yes I still do I like to move it to the fact that I go well with your role on a Saturday I don't know I don't care I like to get the point across and about all morning the something wrong so even if you're happy even say I don't know if you're a honeymoon or something like that everything's place all right always right in the world you find something to moan about it I try to yes do your best. OK. No I don't actually want my report he says and you have seen bad and he's talking about Player of the season he says he would give it to Matt Richie as the because he's young 100 percent all season and we'd say that I wouldn't disagree I think I mean it's always funny when he comes off the pitch as well when he's been McCombs Oh please never happy about that and he's played in different positions and he gives absolutely everything absolutely everything I mean as a said you could see it you could see a sharp. You know you've been unlucky with injuries he would be up there. But I wouldn't disagree with Richie absolutely what sport you talk about our state so a good man we don't often talk about something on the program I guess perhaps because there have been that many high profile swimmers recently from this region but we have a really good reason to talk about it tonight because yesterday British Swimming announced their squad for the World Championships in South Korea and one young man making the trip will be Nick pile of Newcastle swim team he's on the line now hello Nic. I don't get here and they've got a very good line there that we just about got you know will persist but it's not the best you realize and. You see in North Korea now it's sacristy back to South Korea not North Korea no I wouldn't I wouldn't allow any Well hopefully look at that we'll be able to hear you all right Nick if you can go to some of even a slightly That's a bit of reception do yeah. But congratulations fantastic you've gotten the same Thank you I was surprised that you have come so far so quickly because it's a very young man now yeah it was the Countess of surprise you can't take this team I mean you've won medals at the British Championships and the Europeans as well so you know not that much of a surprise I guess but World Championships that's something special isn't it yeah yeah the big step up from last year's like. A much bigger team so this one is a much smaller take with a lot harder. And your stroke is backstroke that's your specialist stroke isn't it so this is this is in particular what made you take that path and I am proud as always ready Dan Baxter and from a young age it was just what you were good at that when you were when he were younger yeah you know. It's obviously a tough old sport as well which needs a lot of training but I think you're still doing A levels aren't you while this is going on so how do you manage to pass a lot yeah I've got my own level exams and a couple of weeks. Before I go to South Korea I want to know how on earth if you don't know. It's quite hard. Timetable in place and you just follow. I guess you'd be doing well all swimmers seem to do and having ridiculously early mornings heavy. Yeah I get quite lucky that and there's many people. Still do want to do it we are time. 5 o'clock 5 o'clock in the pool. So you know part about 40 or 30. It's admirable that you got a full day to do after that it's a living. You But what if you go to bed I don't know what you're bad. And I'm more than small I'm trying to knock off 910 I think I'm going to sound like you but if you like a parent now you're not going anywhere near enough sleep if you have to get up at. Night. Well not an up in the afternoon again yeah yeah OK. To start with I might not have a grander naps rather than the naps You can't surely both of them if you could they do yeah and you can't be good afternoon up either your final hard over look at you often our youngest guy is with us for good reason so well championships anyway just in that same I guess is an achievement but you probably already formulating in your mind what your goals are yeah yeah or they may go deeper than probably just a personal back. And let me get on and one of the events. Well losing interception but unfortunately again that Nic thank you very much indeed for coming on the show and speaking to us this evening all the very best hope for you might speak to you again head of those World Championships Yeah thank you thanks a lot Nick Nick powerful women team at the World Swimming Championships they take place in the city which is in South Korea. And they go hunting for a hunch. That in perspective China then China was. Going up in a china with. Well this is going to in South Korea trying to get mixed up getting across to what the championship Well you know I wouldn't dare call me because you are the one not good option now you are supposed to go to Brazil and end up in Argentina so I wouldn't go there Mr Pride was when you went to go into the world oh yes you're right but that was just because the flight was full so I had to fly a different route this was a reason for I wasn't to know what they were not of to some think it was all you are you forgot to check in it was a false on the airlines part of. Yeah they overbook Yes I had a flight they would let me on the plane be nice I was going I irritated the whites Iraqis it's a false accusation state some of us like this and it's the truth and the truth sometimes such as Well you know the world's way championships go from the 21st to the 28th of July just to finish off the 68 people in our region report still no harassment the place every single day. Breakfast. Very very pretty go. Very emotionally I was really good. And everything she said was exactly what I needed a really. Generally false relationship. Where she may complete her. Really See you tomorrow when you wake up B.B.C. New Castle radio for the northeast. And this is total support a baby. Castle with Simon pride Steve Howie and Mark Mark Fleming has texted he says Stop picking on poor Stevie to legend for goodness sake I've been nothing but nice to him said I and he still beat drum being abusive acting like a his words before so I'm afraid I'm ignoring your message simple as that you're ignoring the callers message of yes I Diot sextant Yes I am. And as far as the speaker is concerned this text is I hold 20 quid on Cahill you know the amateur the. Whole you'd avoid 28 and says 020 quid on him before he played the rockets he was 500 to one to win the tournament should I cash out now it's currently 100 quid what you reckon stick or twist. Stick with him the round that they could all go up again every chance of progressing a bit more at stake what would you to do. Well you know I'm not gambling man. Should not question I wouldn't put the bet on the 1st place I thought let's have a chat to pull his sort of lead supporter is on the line now higher PAUL Well I know Paul. Well might do it on Honestly I'm very disappointed I. Think I think the best chances in an automatic promotion and so resorts are one thing else I mean well life let's hope but I think a few weeks ago I won a scenario where we were level pegging the ball mostly in like 2 games in hand and what happened to ruling against Coventry and it looked as if or while they're in there are about to make a decisive push told a lot of promotion and it sadly hasn't happened. And I have to see I think the result. Against Coventry was only acceptable it art. If you consider that's the 1st time Sunderland has conceded 5 girls or 2000000 came from 36 yes. It's you know that shouldn't happen in this division but it was such a strange game I was actually away that weekends I didn't probably get the full impact of it but you know obviously saw the social media and things and but yeah it was sort of come out of you know to go the whole season without game. And also you know probably defensively being quite decent most of the season for that to happen was bizarre and you just wouldn't whether it was down and the G. Levels or just a 2 towel. Capitulation about you know backs a couple of individuals in the in the game just just a really bit of a shocker really and as you said that's just rocked them back a little bit and to be going into these last 3 games with only one win from the last Fall is a little bit disappointing after those you know I thought those 2 performances after the Wembley period as a friendly. Yeah I couldn't agree more credit to the manager and the players and everybody involved with the club that we had but it was true we went and also we were really there but. The 1.06 really. Was really really shocking returned another fear I go back to the commentary result for me like for someone to concede 5 ghouls to him and this division. Thought up as a absolutely dreadful result. I would all do down I would out honestly I would be is as controversial as to say it was one of the worst results in someone's history I will say that because I mean if you consider the last time we conceded 5 a tool in a league game was an easy one eating season you were playing much just united and a very good man just in a team on the road concerned went on to win 2 or 3 cups now I feel if you concede 5 to him against a team of that caliber you know you can take it on the chin at least to an extent but to concede 5 gurus tool in this division clean commentary was troubling to me the playoffs as far as I'm concerned that's unacceptable you just write it off as a game though as you say it's only happened once and not yet it's happened so that it won't happen again for another 30 years you sometimes have to say well the chances the covered in and that was the way the game was. If you have every week I think your point just I just think of it to me as this too many things not really jelling are clicking at the club at the minute and. The result was particularly. Was very goal and well put it this with your new lot Same with being in the 3rd Division was on the tennis Smith through the mark pretty much in the team conceding 5 goals or 2 on the Smith the way we were we were stealing the league last year because I mean after the comparison with me in terms of history. To be fair means. I mean I'll be honest of being somewhat disappointed with the manager recently I think the Wendell he final was was a very disappointing result and I think a very disappointing performance from the manager the last 20 minutes when we didn't have a striker on the park when he only really needed to do was bring big wake on for we'll Grieco was injured in a single word to see not to get him out. I just think as one or 2 things recently that on to me the purchase of Will Greek no Griggs on the bench bringing back a lead and it looked as if lead better and cut a move that struck a good partnership in the middle of talk and no less but on the bench just one or 2 things to me that it's very disappointing it's all going to be I'm just going to I'm going to run for the moment Marco but it just strikes me that you have picked out I mean at the last 26 games from the last 11 on penalties on the other level the one or 2 on the road and you picked out those 2 games what about the others and surround them you know what it's in the context of it those that you can tell you just take those 2 and say actually the games have done pretty well. What I would feel is to answer that question Asgari Bennett on New Year's Day he would still not finish in the top 2 this season and he said Yes I'm not hedging my bets and I said well I tend to agree with Gary. The fact that we're not in a position at this stage of the season to finish in the top 2 given the squad of players that we've got I'm just seeing if it was a new of a role examination report I would see a good book should have done better. Nationally honest. Assessment of where we stand now I mean really people doesn't lie. The fundamental problem is is that our destiny now is not in our own hands we're spilled if we were in a position where we could have. Qualified in the top 2 a few weeks ago if we you know if we take a knee to point that was every little while until now and what I'm feeling is I'm trying to examine the reasons why because this was an incident certainly not finish and talk to the season would be an immediate disappointment. I think there have been some some issues you know I think one of our really call is today was it was Graham come on board the train was on originally Yes Yeah and he was talking about the injuries which you know I think they have played a part you know I think Charlie why you can't you know isn't. Easy on the OUR you put it that way but he's effective and I think if we did had him for what we've only probably had him fully fit for maybe a quarter of the season. I think he would have made a difference and it would have given all the options and and some of those times you've talked about where we maybe could have turned draws into wins he may have played a part in that and I think that's been the difficult thing for the manager you know to you know the probably expected what more to have a bigger influence on the season than than for him to get injured you know the the will Grigg sign in I think I agree with you it was. Said me just I think that's probably a bit harsh but I think that it was. You know they they committed to it and they were going to do it whatever and that's a difficult situation to get yourself into but if you have a broad strike rate it big and criticism as well so. A real kind of poll we're going to have to leave it there I'm afraid because running out of time in the program just got time out of the answer to get with Graham to showcase another of our total sport extra podcast so that you can find on the B.B.C. Sounds app floored by someone who's been in the studio many times play a coach of the Eagles basketball team has many a story to tell us we know often at great length Cullen is in the studio even in college you sat without you for more than an hour how many questions to your knowledge that enough I genuinely think I asked him 6 questions but he's just he's a fascinating money moved to this country more than 20 years ago from the Bronx in New York I'm not a fairly difficult upbringing I think it's fair to say we do talk a little bit about identity as well because he represented England 16 times including playing at the Commonwealth Games in 2006 basically he declares he both American and English but yet he talks a lot on the any talks at length but he is a very very interesting man thought and the peak of his Englishness Britishness I guess came in 2017 yet he was appointed a member of the order of the British Empire was given an M.B.E. In the 27000 New Year's honors list for services to British Basketball and the community in the Northeast the not 2nd half is probably the more important but certainly to him and that meant a trip to Buckingham Palace later that year which involved in bringing his mum over from the states as well but let him tell the rest of the story the kid from the Bronx who could have never seen that feeling in my mother she just gets so emotional bonding she cuts we have. You know the Buckingham Palace not been to Buckingham Palace but actually been in about an impasse and it is everything you imagine it to be more mean the. History I have an opportunity to with the Duke of Cambridge for as long as I do yes I got it anyway it's just the most pride food and humbling experience than the one thing that my mother keeps she says if I die now you know I must but she's grown up through her struggles and trials and tribulations at the time and reason you know for kids. To be able to witness that for herself and she said that the biggest thing that because she often axed me when when I was going to return and sometimes a motto No I don't often go and she used to get upset she's saying she's like well this is your home to us oh yeah that is New York it is my home but this is my home to an 8 so when I say I don't know and I don't I don't think so what she came over and she saw it for herself she broke down and she cried and she said. She said if something happened to me now I'll be forever grateful and happy I now understand that and she said you can't come home. That's you can't you can't ever leave she said because I love you but those people who love you so much that you can't leave that place and never leave someplace where you're truly loved and understand why you don't come home and she said to me I want to come with my own one of you you know ready to go with you know. Well that's a little bit like saying in about the 1st one anyway I thought it was John Goodman I don't know. That right years ago. But you know where they are you in serves to carry the baby he set the bar so high for himself Is it fair to say like he still edging his way back to his best absolutely to me and again it just take time. For the one thing that we do know from seeing City play week in and week out is that when it does decide to change underneath you always keeps his guessing doesn't it but it's the intensity of the training which dictates often the Saturday team obviously it is it has 3 games in a week that might vary from week to week it's about who's training hard and who's playing well you know there was a competition to so if someone's not training well they're not going to be even considered and I think Kevin's come back to me for me from is injury problems going well and now and to motivate it that that they're truly behind him and if he can get to the kind of for me showed last season then really despite Bernardo playing so well Silva you'd be hard pushed to keep Kevin at the table you know I've mentioned the Q. Would prove yes the day like a the quadruple it's an activity challenge but I'm looking at that badge today and if anybody's got the results East to do it it's got it's of a man just the yeah he has he has and again it's really I suppose that we'll be looking at just the amount of games you know that at the at Grady key games when he gets a call to final semifinals finals and you've got Champions League games sandwiched between you know sort of a look in the games before about going to be against top science at home like Chelsea and Arsenal so I think it's just the intensity and the level of the games which means that despite the fact that we have got such a great squad and we are being I'll get to real quality players who you know try to . Part time and time again over the last many years but I just feel that he thinks that because of the quality of the teams around us as well they've all stepped up this year united and now looking for all their alongside Chelsea Liverpool a breath taking. When they were in the pump so they saw me it seems a better than last season so I think the challenge for all was to say I just think you're going to define the BEEN F.A. Cup final alongside Champions League which is going to be hugely significant the season you're never going to have a better chance of progress in especially when you have a draw like shell you know but only over the top draws you know way from home in particular that you almost feel like you know as much as you don't believe in fate that this could be our year at the same time Liverpool that look so you kind of feel that the league and the Champions League and I going to do to my abuse their i Pads you know huge focus from pole like a little bit light so you're listening to B.B.C. Radio months it's the big much build up so as you've just heard Pep Guardiola has gone for a really strong line up for the Burnley game the south the name and he says that the F.A. Cup is definitely a target for the blues so I don't know for people who is a strong side a strong team. Or the receivers a strong team or not a strong team so I don't understand I think we showed in the last 3 years and never again we try to win the game into our best till the selection would be for many reasons for we have a game 3 days a goal and we have a game 3 days later in the game Newcastle so considering that we're going to decide what is the best team to win the game we want to go through in effect last season and we went in with an outing was disappointed I want to do so in the season when I won't as far as possible well it may be 33 years old Silva has potential to go beyond his current development as the city which runs on till 2020 Blues boss Pep Guardiola says Silva is getting better and better in these kind of cases it depends on the players for me it is feed and performance the same like decision I'm more than glad to take a substitution for. You know it isn't easy to find him around the world but the thing you have to decide when in telling that age the your mind control your legs and you desire and and willing to to to stay in the present game just kind of plays . The C.G. Goes in is even if you see I have to. I had a feeling always was good when we were together I was in the light and especially the competitiveness and personality. Goals and using the September ton of em by special chambers they went after our defeat against Leon we were in a really strong. He was our keep key player he's scoring and wanted to play he played really really good really well played really well understatement if ever a well I can tell you Darby of taking the lead in the early F.A. Cup kickoff. A Dobie warm now Devin silvers on the pads today Paul like no one of those conversations you always have in pope's when football is the topic being discussed and I was trying to think of a better pound for pound signing by months just to sit say. Repeatedly 20000000 quid if he was 23 and not 33 I think you'd have to pull at least a warm in from. Well you know some things you may know you look at the plays that the city have acquired over the seasons and that were in the scheme of things really you know snips I mean. Didn't sort of hit the ground running like Sergio did . You know our most consistent player for me personally you know since he's since his tenure at the club at the same sign if you look at the the value of players at this moment you know I was talking about the likes of Sterling and Sontag and Bernard to walk a $100000000.00 price tags but. You know now he's come to be to me the best number 10 in the Premier League since he's arrived at the same time he's been under the radar screen how many times the Premier League sides not included David Silva you know it's an absolute you know conundrum for me I don't understand it but when all is said and done to me you've got someone that has grown you know in the family of city and he sets a standard I'm you know fill fold in. With them and the only. Players for the future. Quadruple. When you can give a rest it's a players of the caliber of Sterling. And silver. I think Paul you touched upon it you don't you don't sound you didn't know you Calista the must when you can give that caliber of player a rest I think if anybody's going to be a juggle full tournament city of got as good a chance is the. Yeah yeah exactly and you know it's not beyond the bounds of possibility is just the fact that Liverpool have been so good Chelsea absent is over we have been vulnerable you know against the likes of Crystal Palace you know and you know was kind of shown that and it's one of those where if you're about consistency you fail with the poor and stones in particular they're playing we can and we can play regularly then they've shown that they are number one Pavin for me personally yet Vincent Kompany steps in against Liverpool and he was different class you know so you have got to play is that I've got not now stop Kind of us that anybody savvy in how to play in in the city but I think deep down I think the majority of City fans could name as an 8 out of 11 why you think they would be our strongest starting lineup but what's great is the fact that because of the of the the levels of quality I'm on the kind of skill levels it means that at the single training session every moment of every training session is important I'm perhaps looking at it and so Phil fold and he's learning so much and he will be a stalwart for the future but you know I still believe that. Our most consistent and I would sort of number one number 2 in the team sheet along with Addison and. So everybody else in that can can be rotated in May and will still be equally as effective and they dive in silver in this side he he really. He brings it on as good as the wrong it is in the side. For me on the down side is practically on pliable because it was in she wishin and the Rossana spice and scale you know no team can live with them on the outside and it's a huge huge strength and we're so grateful that we've got those kind of players in our squad listing to form a blues midfielder poll like part of your big match commentary team and your Big much commentry is going to say the word plural advisedly city against Burnley F.A. Cup 4th round we've got League football as well in the championship it's not Forrest against Wigan but it's no more about Wigan on the road been Baldwins this season it won't be easy you've got to think at the City Ground just runs and yet for changes to try and arrest the slide that seen them win only 16 in the last 10 years the backlog remains unchanged Jones Ingold James don't play keep prayin Naismith across the back then 3 changes in midfield Byrne Gibson and. Jacobs coming alongside Captain Sami most of us Gibson's 1st start since New Year's Day and then Windass is joined by James Vaughan for his 6 star the season as you say Jimmy a tough ask for them to arrest the slide we can hear the City Ground against Celtic and forest ensue. And think an emotional return to ease of the club the east manage for Rochdale boss Keith Elice he goes but. Still this will be another tough game for the once and you were told one day to change today for Rochdale joy Rafferty left the club this week his place has been taken by a new signing Ryan McLaughlin no Matty don't either anywhere in the side so Ryan Delaney comes in the team in full is Lily single McLaughlin a bank. Man United counter attack into so many examples and most do not hear Wayne Rooney Christiane the Ronaldo Jason park scored so many goals here counter-attack and to be on as we showed them that video today a few of the the old classic goals so I think this in order to being. Put on that video into the box now. Loonies until he gives it to the air and repeat the antecedents now but back to the net it was a little late the easy for the Arsenal striker and the top scorer beginning a 2nd off the Had to dig and dig deep but if you would work rate some block some defending We had to do was important and. Towards the end it was comfortable but not during the 90 minutes rusher sprinting put on his rugby and side come to the top but pick him out he goes for the shot say by check how he comes out last year. That is the killer Manchester United are going through this round of the F.A. Cup also known Manchester United 3 so manchester united through safely around 5 and it made 8 wins out of a on the spend for the Reds Subud will be no Wembley glory for Bolton they went down to want to follow Championship side Bristol City very proud of the form style I really am in and some of the football played was was different class really Paula gray area I want to go all the way but I want gold to narrow down and we take you by boat big stunning delivery people so Mark. The finish the one who's leader Bristol City but I won't go that's we've got to believe in ourselves in possession of the ball we can pass it we can switch the play like we've done so and you know I just saw that tonight and you know we're very pleased a lot of stuff we still can't say for Bristol City in fact it was the we didn't get it to finish composed to improve these guys at our level down to Bristol City Park the mud and soon moved on but I still get some disappointing notes progress we've got some huge bonuses to be accomplished inside to pull it all kid. Thinks it's going to. It's another tells of the opposites and the positives it's a key player Bristol City it was stunning finish Crystal City sirrah to produce one. Massive difference without the ball had to explode turned around to fair play so I want to bet. And never know quite enough quality disappointment for both talking Doncaster against old Next on THE BIG much Bill but right here on B.B.C. Radio Manchester. Tomorrow morning from 6 B.B.C. Radio Manchester. B.B.C. Radio Manchester. This is the big match build up on the 4th round F.A. Cup Day Oldham already have a giant killing pedigree in the F.A. Cup success anybody can win the day. And do not. Become one P.C. So rage. Is. Pretty big states to be involved in something like that last round is probably one of the best There's a. Major battle but. It's . All to see. From the bottom the should be motivated to be motivated ever wake up as family might be similar in any way fall and be sold over 3000 takers so still the big game wouldn't take any game no no strangest. Play say you got to take everything on this marriage that do well in the league bubbles now and so we go in is the sole cost on the dogs again which from a great cause that was a little bit of pressure on not come out and get us in and accepted for half a cup game and anything can happen so we might be in the. League below and we'll trade even when we don't know a day we can I think you can be anywhere. Be it for the. Feist of the game ended up with sudden play as a side book that all through front run Pod celebrating after the game with the fans that well I'm delighted to say. Briefly stop or undone custom lingo got to me he's part of your online comments that same for a 2nd Big much commentary from 3 years old to go to Dani got a good afternoon to make it up today you're a bit young for this. Summarizing lots and you still be getting a bit so I'm. Just looking at a seldom. That's not an isolated South. Yeah no I'd love to look to still be out there playing but you know as you get to my age now that unit is very inside it's looking at the evil side really now coaching the youth team here. You know cos start looking at my future rather than trying to cling on to have any last games I can play well I got it but I'm a big supporter of non-league of all triggerman if you want to go on good photos I'm sure. If you got the good memories of the F.A. Cup guys. Yeah going back to your team days of Coventry we made to you could afford to lose in consecutive years you know not got that got the home go for it straight away and then get the other parents here in after culture as a youngster. There was always you know it was always a never come into the tournament until January and then when I got to about 30 I think I went. Chesterfield in and I was going to fall but I know all of sudden you play not so I've been in a club but it was all it was all new to me without sounding a bit snobbish and to get it it was you know I was just used to come in in January but. In the taste of it and go into a few They quickly went to wish that we went to Forest Green when they were only. You know some big some potential but on a skins out and to be fat never really been on. The end of a. Set I think the worst one was when I was a youngster at Coventry when we got to know long saw the guy probably 15 years ago think Clive plot was playing up for that. But now he's always a great occasion and when you get to these stages now these rounds it's and you know it. Culminated a salad and if they called. Victory today was like you jad so I could get next round go to the B.B.C. Radio months is that we spoil in football to schools we've got City and United and understandably when you go in for the Premier League and you go in for the Champions League the F.A. Cup sides to be 3rd in your pecking order but what do see me to get to the 5th round if you walk down the old. Wiley's Yes it's huge I mean. For the for the players 1st and foremost for the players he's just brilliant because you even know how to play against one of them big boys that. Don't cost a buck or that good for last year. Also a much shorter than a car about a pull away but anyway it was at the Emirates obviously and it was a great Don't cuss at all 8000 fans or something down that it was that a great name but. For the loss of all time and only now that they were to get through today and get big a big toy. And then secondly obviously for the club financially and the people out of control dream it's great if they can get a big away game at one of the big boys and share the gates if it can it can go a long way. To covering the budgets for. All sections of the club really in a pick up to the playing budget for the for the following season but it could go a long way to get in can't take a boss paid while the permanent job is Possible them as well because when you get high profile wins like they did in the last round of maybe a bit more progress you've got to say he wouldn't be doing the chances in the home . Listen he wouldn't be and you know what sometimes sometimes it just works out that way because you look at. The previous few managers that you know the great names great great names in the game being great players and for whatever reason didn't last very long in the job but sometimes it's. The underdogs and unknowns that come a word about reputation and what about probably failing that made major pressure that next play is. Big names in the game they go into management and he'll feel the pressure a way out of. This fellas come in a fair play to I mean. You know he looks like he's got to play for the result and sometimes it's pressure fresh as what you need and I'm sure he's pretty fearless at the moment and he's we're just looking forward to every challenge it comes from different than what did you make of Poles goes be linked with the job they. Think it's always going to be one of them is and I think whenever there is whenever it's available I think it will be healing put it because as I say it's another legend of the game and it's no secret that he's he's been a physically gulden fan growing up and still is. Who knows who knows what will go down on Jules just very quickly on that note Jimmy Scholes of course spoke assault at a press conference in midweek and said that he had had talks but there's nothing to report on that stage. I can't stand the soap fully the most but I was told last night by a fairly reliable source that talks of now broken down completely between Scholes and. Well thanks for now got to did like to have you with this a mike will confirm one of the best bits about the job that you get to do today that you never have a bad game in a press box. And he's rejected. You saying on the bench but you know nothing. That's a good one but we did I did to have you with us Gary and joy the day night you chairs the bar. Formally oppose your best remember him Mr Coventry but he also played for Birmingham and he did play all alone would stop or count and he did play for school top and Doncaster as well he's a alongside. We will for much commentry of that game it's online so B.B.C. . Radio mantis the fall of the cold which is doing or if you've got the B.B.C. Sounds up you can listen. To wit that So what you need to know well in the early kick off game it's nice to. Be one little bit about temperate in the game certainly in the lots of stages and in the 1st test it Barbados which I sing in substantial finally Stoeckel to win of 600 and 28th. They make it a fist of it Rory Byrne's has made his 50 England 76 Fernand in Bridgetown they still go on to the 558 runs to go it's day 4 of the 1st test. The B.B.C. Radio Manchester sports much day teams shall we start with big March commentary on $95.00 F.M. On digital radio and online in the U.K. City against Burnley at the under booklet and there's no Benjamin mehndi today for City maybe's comeback of course as a substitute in midweek but it doesn't feature this afternoon that a citizen goal will cause stones also mended the need to brew and if the 19 yo going to win. In J's use on the bench Mulek Sterling a sauna David Silva and Phil floated and the 6 outfield substitute Jimmy the muncher to sit in the sun to cheat a scored 53 goals between in the season scary stuff you'd alternative F.A. Cup 4th round common to go to the keep it don't cost against all the might minus 2 changes from pretty wild after that Darby defeat to Michael Steele last weekend I'll go Vera and the suspended mouse complex to and I'm great he said even since starting goal the penalty hero to the F.A. Cup tie against full of it cost him Edmonson Clarke and method MacI know the platform is still in Cilla holding midfield as Callum Lang you've got the way to go it's full of alongside Baxter and Bragg Chris O'Grady leads the line this afternoon online Coventry Doncaster getting sold out into the championship and a new of the tough road trip to Wigan they go to Nottingham Forest from the City Ground. And for changes after that defeat. Sheffield United. Pilkington drops out the squad with injury Evans Roberts and Joe gonna drop to the bench 11 in full Jamie Jones in goal James don't play keep Naismith across the back Gibson Morsi and shake up the midfield with Windass and James Vaughan 3 goals this season starting. On city wearing. The club this week his place is taken by Ryan MCLAUGHLIN The new signing from. Don't also dropped on the side and Ryan Delaney comes into the team in full. And let me remind you the game of the day. From 530 you can hear full 95 point one F.M. The 2nd place Barry posts off of the. Match Day T.V. B.B.C. Radio Manchester school. Now then what do you make of this despite sitting just one point above the league won dropzone. Says he wouldn't be happy with life at the top of League 2 a mood rather relegation in League One. League you save it out of me you know we're almost welcomed by us Els like you would be. What we. Are now. Personally I don't know I losing you know. To lose to progress what we're doing. Thinks i'm days of fun and he joins us now is he right. Typical critical thought coming. The way the plane and then they were challenging a promotion she had a big on the same way just. Well I've got a mate is a big wig and found in a said one of the things he didn't appreciate till it happened when they got relegated it was going to watch each team win rather than lose so would you rather be a chop E.F.L. To side or strictly an A.F.L. One. I think the other thing wrong but I'd rather the tribal law challenged the play off but. The problem. On yourself ON THE BELIEVE IT case lost the plot a scream is being pulled with the odd exception. Being guy may come after me saying that saying it's a complete raffle in terms of going for in net. Is a bit surprising I've never seen sure about changing keepers on a regular basis can I ask you Andy though do you think the change boardroom level is had an impact on the situation there's obviously something going on in the court a lot. OK eagle maybe that's led to some of the players going I'm going to call. Case rhyme or reason about generosity KALYDECO and credit history making great sense of the stamina Why was Alan telling that one a guy goes on. And on getting better than all the public eye that wages are going to Julia. He has got a difficult job. Let me bring my killing because Michael's a Betty fund so we should live through what you and I are discussing Tai pathetically off the new Michael hi Jenny OK Yes mighty So are you enjoying life as a successful F L 2 sides more than human George to a glued in F.L. One Yeah a lot like on the side really rather be in League One or if you're the 1st of course it is about winning games you know like we would a lot they did we didn't get a lay of think we only white get 7 games against and I lost $26.00 games actually last year so it was great you know it's hard to go in then in Michael supports you don't want to turn it over to me just it's a lot and I'm a season ticket holder I think a lot going to do much now he can't lay a cot whites and you know I want to retaliate for the not OK The Netscape now he's you know he's tall could become pretty dire and that to play well would be so winning and winning say you know you can't wait for the next month and she selling you on the Sunday Well if they are playing next year but I'm afraid the way of. Going to be challenging for both you know put it be Dobby's around every corner would. Be good to go to the almost all of the way that going oh yeah that is definitely a possibility but I suppose that in the dream scenario one day that you really stop self as you were for the past decade green the an established A.F.L. One side book may be Michael's give you hope if the worst came to worst it's not the end of the world if it's only football. But the day that they're going to. Go I think today is somebody you know being able to get away with being able to say that I. Used to get left back and you know. And a great sit so to Michael about you know already a new way to the ground because there is that Cyprus day today and if you can't make Glenn a Michael will be that know him of old. If you can't get there you can share the game with us here that will be your 3rd big much commentary on B.B.C. Radio Manchester and what's a game should be a hope not get by praising it because we give it a big build the book if it lives up to expectations look at the game we have in prospect for you the soft the new barrier against Lincoln 530 kickoff for much commentary B.B.C. Radio Manchester miss it at your peril just on 23. Leading the way to Manchester travel update with the latest is Simon James. We've had some problems reported over the last couple minutes on the M 62 just looking at the cameras on the top the panel is trying to work out what's going on we were close both ways inside of the farmhouse between Rushworth mall and which is over towards Leeds junction $2224.00 but I would say looking. With more I think the just released the traffic's and maybe the instant it didn't dusted with already I think still some delays coming back from Leeds but possibly there was a pleasure the M 62 but I think have lifted that now with more attention 20 so it will be some delays heading towards Leesburg where the problem was that now lifted it and it looks like the police the traffic again we do have holdups though on the M 62 heading west towards Warrington that's looking busy to just hear about Nixon as to count the inside lane to Eccles and birch with us morning to nice junctions 12 to 11 the C.M. 60. On the move doesn't busy there on the M 66 the other side of Barry looks like we've got some road works right at the top end of the most well becomes the 56 the bypass going down from Eaton paled coming down from East Lancashire and coming up from there we found a bridge in opposite direction as well as looking quite busier imagine with traffic heading to the football at the end he had coming in from Denson and coming from desert island on Hyde road busy through draws down as well generally all routes from the as he had looking slow. On the city center Trinity way also busy from the city center of an I.Q. Way coming in Princess road at the Chester roads come down a little bit out of Stratford a few days before I get to the M 60 so busy coming in through solved for the M 6 on the reach of road heavy also elsewhere I would say wrongly interbred brake delays coming into point and from the grove on the MCAS filled robots into the towards the shared space on the road north so queuing northbound for some reason on the 84 when so one 4th bypass coming up from a handful of tea and to the rails if you hold up to the moment on the trams you see on the East it's been lined reminded north and trains disruption all day long with the plan strike anything else going on at 161-929-3649 next week's Inside Out with J C Norman 28 was among the size worst years for gun crime for years now it's been one of the top 5 regions in Britain when it comes to witnessing this type of violence will reveal how one firearms case changed the way places investigate. We now buy things with a car than we do with cash and the law says we should pay exactly the same but an undercover investigation for inside out has discovered some customers still being charged hundreds of pounds in a legal fee to make a family from Cumbria who are living off the grid with no mains electricity or running water among the services most of us take for granted inside out Northwest Monday night it's. On B.B.C. One baby still radio Manchester sports Well you probably noticed but it's the last Saturday before the transfer window closes so with time running out who does your side need to bring in before Thursday former City midfielder Paul like he's on common to do to the city against Burnley in the cook Today poll perhaps being quite adamant will be no incoming story in January but if you poll I could wish upon him an acquisition Who would you go for. To be honest with you I suppose the only the only issue is be having called me mending with the engine could do a study more but not much for the box so for me it would have been similar like. Well yeah they asked him about was a young player and that's what I was looking for young players who can be developed and can grow into the side and get back to pay he's the only one to me and I'm not so it's a bit of a looksee because probably in Galton's in Auburn that was down that's all so you know so like he would go for bad cheer while I must admit I would concur with the city manager Pep Guardiola says the club up with well in every transfer window since he's been here the Blues boss submit it made to be difficult to sign players without being held to ransom while the transfer market salary now increase a lot when we shouldn't see many times when we are right here in our average shortage was sold and can you haven't played more than 15 years in that moment at times Formica just a few name on what happened because you know one crazed incredible So that's why we should go forth and spend a lot to change the team with a lot of rice and now is the market you have to adapt to the concurrence market and . And trying to buy the plane is going to matter to some musicians and not today placements of top top level in a good price zone is impossible so we have to adapt and many transfer the young players from the last you know. And trying to hunt them down below. Their own game of personality here so City no signings Although bad until well would be on a people's wish list you might think let's find out about the rest of our local sites and stay in there for a cup for now all them away Doncaster might mind a some commentary to take so would the wild need to improve his squad Mike Fincke they've certainly got to look for all that although they have been see short of goals in every single game since the loss of Sam so rich a lot who is on loan from board with recalled by his parent club Because been a loss think he netted the net 10 times your nice 1st half of the season here currently pocket although Chris O'Grady is a reliable. Veteran striker and I just think syringe had that little bit extra and that was about it not little Jada pace he was also taller than O'Grady should Paul's go into the box so certainly on that front I think a striker is very much needed I think defensively they are largely OK although maybe need a left back because they've started putting nothing MacI know that in recent weeks he is doing it all right Joe put he just isn't enough to let baccy prefers to be on the left wing so they can give him an option to get forward and put someone in East place that did not maybe your Janetta to look for we want 5 days to go the transfer window for all about that's it in the Championship Wigan on the road today they've been dreadful on the travels Ranson is with them at the City Ground So who would Paul Cook need to bring in to improve this side well it's been reported that they actually made an off the not seeing the forest defender Danny Fox that was rejected He's there is the club captain understandable why Martin O'Neill haven't just come in and out in a forest wanted to keep him on it to assess his options before let any players go it looks like then that Paul Cook's you know targeting a defender after Byrne left Brighton So definitely something that. Although they have brought in Cedric keeper not too long ago and also then when you look at all sing for is on the bench have got Lewis crap and he scored 14 league goals this season we can haven't really got anyone like the no Will Greeks been injured Nick power has been injured but they haven't really got a top top goalscorer So I mean those are those are the 2 areas that I would look at and think well if they're going to if they can survive in the Championship they need someone who can score goals Rochdale just above the drop zone a near fell one so Dale and city were well you're the rushed out support you had on earlier talk about a left back I think that's certainly right I think we'll be chasing somebody for that position he sort of his midfield out with a couple loan signings in January but for me to meet him you've got to try and get somebody in although I'd be very difficult in Anderson out front with a goal scoring Gertie's we know strikers are expensive commodities and Rochdale have not got the biggest to put us in this division so to find somebody who can hit the road running as they say and score some goals might be a tough ask but for me a striker I think will be should be on field mind. Fell to Marcos Phil fighting for survival and making a good go of it of late so who would. Mr Campbell route to bring in to make a big difference from the 1st 1st of all I'm quite surprised he hasn't really done too much in the transfer market which I was expecting him to bring coffee plies it because of all his contacts the one that added to our no account which at the moment it's been pretty sort of 19th century the fights are like the time waiting for that particular difference to approach a partnership that in time when the mosque the strike is on it's my only concern is what happens in town when especially gets into some cities is you know you sort of spring chicken that's not being often said because now you know it's not the fault of pigs like the commie pinkos 33 the feds told you so surprising should they be enjoyed and I think they're just knocking it up in a state that would be my position that some other think it should be folks just before we preview today's 3 o'clock kickoff I should be full on the back of the claim made by Masel for more than a plea supported by Paul like the dove in Silver would have to be any serious contender for the best pound for pound sign made by Manchester City if you know like me the fact they paid 45000 for Colin Bell 64 from nearly 35000 for Mike some of that looks like a nice but a business to book your comments from style scuse me says pound for pound signing fee and knighted would be Peter Schmeichel at it Counselor Yeah I get those absolute him up but I think I'd also put down his servant in the mix but from Oldham on this is this resonates with me Bob he said best pound for pound signing without doubt 115000 paid sits a RINO by some to bring home the greats Denis Law Denis Law still for my in my opinion the most electrifying football I've ever seen Bryan for months all says I think you're right Jim would have been silver I would like to think Joe gave as good value for money when he's best at City no argument self-made Undy from Droylsden I know he's not in a class of David Silva but what a difference. In Oldham Thank you can't be right today. In wars Lee I'm Karen in far north you've all got a right right keep them coming and we will reveal more very shortly here on b.b.c. Radio Manchester No the man who was arrested over the attack at the Manchester Victoria at Manchester Victoria in which 3 people were stabbed has no been detained on the mental health laws previously the 25 year old was being held on suspicion of attempted murder after the attack on New Year's Eve Richard lease is the leader of the Munch Ester City Council clearly for a lot of people it will also take them back to. 2007 so the other reaction is that Manchester people are not the same we would urge people to be vigilant take care of themselves but also not to allow this to change the way you go over the line so what is the Mental Health Act The Mental Health Act is a law that tells people with mental health disorder what their rights are and how there can be treated now the term mental health disorder is used to describe people who have a mental illness a learning disability or a personality disorder being detained also known as being sectioned under the Mental Health Act is when you're made to stay in hospital for assessment or treatment and have a little listen to this this is b.b.c. Radio Manchester is Gareth Byrd who was actually at Victoria Station when the stabbing took place and he told us what he saw. It seemed quite quiet quite a normal sort of Monday night really. I just said goodbye to a friend of mine as we parted ways I went on one platform here on to the other. And there was a tram in between both platforms and as a bit of a joke. With this there is a curator 2 security men there with a blessin I open the tram door on one side went through to do this I just waved goodbye to my my on the other platform. And no sooner had I stepped off the tram there was just screaming and panic just people start running. And I jumped back and I couldn't really see my friend but I could see. What I can only describe as it was a bit of a flash of an image of somebody. Kind of like a knife in action where I could see was an arm and a coach that's all I can really make our. Legs in a fast coach with several of the people down the platform and on to the tracks and we didn't know whether we were being chased with never there was knife or gun and the 2 security man that I'd just been speaking with they'd run a run across to what was going on and that's the last I saw of them. Meanwhile I'm running down the tracks with this girl or is it she was panic stricken she was screaming she no where to go we were we were hiding for a couple of minutes. And then once the noise seemed to come down we went back up the truck back onto the platform and the guy was being held down by it and I 5 or 6 officers. I kind of lost my cool a bit and shouted. Kind of just I was I was a bit I was very emotional because I don't know what happened to my friend but luckily he was just behind the guy as as this guy was trying to stop this this older gentleman my friend was behind. The person stab him and. I'd just look at it he didn't he got out Ok really the guy was Tasered in front of him I think the 1st taser messed. Second taser gun in pepper spray you know sort of thing and I walked off in floods of tears you know. It wasn't a pleasant experience and I you know I hope the couple I saw last night are going to be. Ok it's because he really Manchester's Gareth Byrd who was at the Victoria Station when the stabbings took place that's what he told us think of it the all her fear of how you'd be feeling if you saw some like that specifically in and around that area of Manchester which is good so many vivid memories for people. Next Monday I'm back doing the same old same old enough for a Nigerian and learning. Can start your New Year with a bang then at least with an energetic wind. Just in case if I get a new year. $1000.00 found. A front b.b.c. Radio Manchester now the mayor of Greater Manchester has issued an ultimatum to the rail industry deliver for passengers in the north or make plans for your own departure no comes as fares have gone up by an average of 3 point one percent despite months of disruption Union led protesters are demonstrating outside Piccadilly against the rise and these passengers we spoke to in Manchester aren't happy with the fare increase and say the money should be spent on urgent improvements on of course safety it's just increased the crazy train so it's probably be a no cost me about standing up no seat let's no speak to the Greater Manchester Mary and the Burnham 1st of all and tell me about the ultimatum is that there are no you're saying that this needs to change or these rail companies the train companies can make plans for their own departure welcome even Connor I mean one thing is certain isn't it we can have another year on the railways like the one we've just been through. The time for excuses is really over I mean I think one of the Vox Pops said it all there you know if there was a 3 percent improvements every year some of the fare increases might just be about pilots of all but actually people are being asked to pay more today when service is a worse this year than they were last year and that's why it's a kick in the teeth to be honest for commuters who basically been suffering not just last year but have put up with 2nd rate rail services for as long as any of us can remember so yes I'm very clear about it this is the year for change and if the change doesn't come then the need for the major intervention into this industry to sort it out tell me what your own power is and what what your office can do in this situation do you do you have the ability to stop real companies investing in this part of the world d r do you just have the platform in order to open open some sort of conversation with them I have some power color but it's limited so at the moment we have a situation where the northern front Chuy's is jointly managed by transport for the North of which I'm a member and the Department of Transport saw I was signaling today is if by May We haven't seen the promised improvement I will use my vote to say that we now must have a major change in the. It includes the option of franchise removal but I'm just one voice albeit a significant voice in the north because of the number of people living in Greater Manchester but just one voice but I want to signal to all of the people in my area the residents a great amount just I am not prepared for them to go through another year like the last I will use my voice on my vote to call for a major change in this industry if it doesn't deliver by the time of the new timetable in May so want to be learned then on the over the last 12 months what have you learned about what you can do what needs to be done the conversations you've had with not only the unions but obviously companies like Northern Rail I've learned that it's very hard to deal with this industry they all point the finger at each other it's very difficult to get accountability for the traveling public. But others say that can't continue that there has to be change here otherwise some of these operators need to need to make way as simple as simple as that so it's a very challenging industry to hold to account it's very fragmented I just believe the privatized structure allows people to get all the benefits in an avoider all the responsibilities that come with it and that's why I believe that the Labor Party's right to call for renationalisation However before that there's a job to be done to improve services right now and some of these things are entirely within the gift of Northern it's fair enough that Network Rail of coal some of the problems Khana but just look at some days we've had cancellations all through the 2nd half of 2018 and these are issues that northern could fix if it sat down and sort of these contracts out and I'm saying to me that's that that's that's a term of you I've heard quite a lot in the last 6 months if they could sit down and dot dot dot We're all very sensible human beings and. We're all in the western world and we're all in a highly highly emotive situation but we have an economy that's strong Why turn those in positions of power sit down why did we end up in the situation we ended up in it. Was a good question. You know that I have a contract caller to provide services 7 days a week and they have a situation where they don't have staff contracts that enable them to deliver the service what they called for some members of staff to work on Sundays Well I'm sorry but I asked them for that it's a sought out and they haven't sorted it out possibly because it will cost them money and that's the frustration I was just describing and dealing with this industry they all not providing what they were contracted to do and in those circumstances I am not prepared to sit back and say this can just drift on undressed on and drift on and that's why I'm setting this deadline today from my point of view at least I am saying that I won't put up with it any longer than May this year can so there is not very strong statement that we won't put up with it Ok but right alongside that we have No 3 point one percent rice in the prices that we're going to be paying an average that is probably going to go up even further how do you respond to that and how can an average tree in user see that as a justifiable raise and what Chris Grayling said today is welcoming responses their place but it can be justified it's a straightforward as that and to be fair to the rail industry on this one it's the government that's decided to impose this this 3 percent increase the biggest of the 6 is not how they can justify a rise this level when services of gone so far back was I honestly don't understand any other industry Qana that had lost the trust of its customers in such a spectacular way as the railings we did last year would be doing the opposite wouldn't it as one of your Vox Pops said that we're lowering prices not not increasing them and yet it seems the privatized rail industry. Works to different rules fares only go in one direction they only go up it would seem so that's what I would say and Chris Grayling today tried to blame it all on the unions let me just say something about that so you know it is not going to increase public confidence on our railways at the moment if we're to take stuff off our trains if it's a tight guards off trains I don't believe that's going to bring people back to the rail network transport to the north it's clear we think we need to see a 2nd member of stuff on those trains and we want northern to sit down with the union and work out a plan to deliver just that Ok while you're on it would be remiss of me not to ask you for a quick word on the Manchester Victoria attack that happened on Monday and how has your office and been dealing with that one of the last couple of days. Certainly horrific news at the start of the new year a vile unprovoked attack on on a couple out enjoying New Year's Eve It was a terrible way for the new year to start and you know we've always been clear that you know we will. Ensure that anybody who is guilty of terror related offenses will be will be pursued now in this particular instance grace much the police have in my view carried out all steps properly there is an issue in this case around the mental health of the individual concerned and not that is a proper procedure that needs to be followed but I would just want to stress this remains a counter terror organization one thing the police have said today which confirms something I touched on yesterday is that this does not appear to be an incident that has any wider network behind it would appear to be an isolated incident but the police are just seeking to confirm that absolutely they are increasingly confident that this individual was acting alone but obviously we will continue to work and support them to get to. To the full to the full facts but I want to express my gratitude to Grossman's the police for the speed with which they've carried out the investigation but particularly Connor to those brave officers from the British Transport Police 4 of them who run straight into harm's way who took effective and very decisive action in bringing order to a very dangerous situation one of them of course was injured in the course of doing that and I think on this occasion I can speak for everybody in great Munster and and giving them our sincere thanks and to say how indebted we are to them as well of course passing on our very bush best wishes to the couple still recovering from that from their injuries going to Manchester's Mary Andy Burnham can I say Happy New Year to you too color having her back we will speak to you I'm sure quite a lot over 2019 no doubt took care thank you for joining me on b.b.c. Radio Manchester the c evening so give me your reaction on that 0802 in a double 2 double 5 it won 3 doubles 3 Start your message with Mike you know our tour joins me she just she shuffled through the door with the darkness and joys of 2019 I'd like to say that but it's shuffled in with the cold as well as coalition Yes it is in is it going to get any warmer No it's going to get colder you know it's been a really mild starts the new year we saw temperatures in double figures about 15 minutes of you spoil sport clocks if you think that was 15 minutes it is all about to change so it's been a lovely day today it's been dry skin brightest started off mild and he got colder and colder through the afternoon tonight they're going to see lots of clay skies and we have to see some freezing fog forming maybe some patches of mist as well temperatures will fall below freezing tonight so expect a touch of frost tomorrow morning obviously then a very cold starts tomorrow morning going again for a decent States more and mostly dry bright plenty of sunshine expected plenty of blue skies but it temperatures tomorrow may peak no higher than 3 or 4 degrees given the afternoon. Happy New Year to you good to see you thank you you too is it going to be a good year for the blue half of Manchester Well it's just going to be a better year than the red half of Manchester probably better but we don't know we don't know do we we've got that big game tomorrow night harboring there on the horizon looming over us the city taking on Liverpool of course tomorrow in the Premier League that is a huge game in the Premier League title match to city manager Pep Guardiola today confirming fielder Kevin de Bruyne a has returned to training but will have to have his fitness assessed again tomorrow ahead of that game the Blues boss says tomorrow's game isn't make or break for the title with still half the season remaining though of course you will have more confidence to be happier than you lose by the football game with. Respect because we have the challenge we want to grow. To pretty games with the pressure that means that is a point couldn't agree with a more yeah I mean you're getting a bit ago and we've been with this is easy to do that isn't easy to get carried away there is it team games left yeah yeah yeah but then we need to talk football is all about talking isn't it as you can club say his press coverage if you have exactly many things to talk about we need to have made up connoisseurs stop trying to play down anyway as a saying And speaking of pressure or that mentioning pressure Liverpool last boss year in club is shying away from the occasion beri beri beri important game for both teams obviously and I would use it as motivation for the other team if you are . Is this kind of 6 point games it's like it is to play against each other. Pretty much in all directions that's how it is very very very very exciting plenty morning breakfast Errol Morris tomorrow in the chair Mark Cross the sport so they'll be discussing that building up to the game and then the big game live here on b.b.c. Radio much as the. Absolutely f.l. Commentry build it from 7 like you said all talk of we forgot about somebody we forgot somebody to read how well that little thing there little thing going on tonight Yes Manchester United's trip to Newcastle It's been a pretty dream start really going to social so far isn't it. And I'm aren't thinking you're right no no no no no I Ok not a red not a blue oh right Ok very good impartiality you were going to say. Anyway Alexis Sanchez could return after 6 weeks out with a hamstring injury for much tonight tonight that's their 1st trip of 2019 only going to social says a lack of concentration is why they're struggling to keep clean sheets and says it won't be easy at St James's Park against Newcastle it's a different different ballgame because you are away I never enjoyed. Those one game really enjoyed ourselves in the 6 to win but that was more or less it. Is going to be a tough one and we need to keep clean sheets we've not done that so far so we know there's loads of things we need to work on but. This is the way we want to see ourselves and I think so they go you go to so sharp speaking of the Reds and reds history we shall go to socials brought back a bit of that and the old way of Manchester United you might remember this goal 26 years ago Ross Perot polished What is this God. Is it appears on the edge of the bats including Brian Silber on Wednesday let's go down to fire force micro picture the spirit and celebrate saying. I remember you have us I was just about to say when he scored twice that there yes yes yes again Sheffield Wednesday I think headers Yes from memory and Alex Ferguson you heard in a car was to get off the bench runs onto the pitch. But that was the most famous goal of Steve Bruce's career probably again Sheffield Wednesday today the former Red was appointed then you manager here over in Sheffield so good luck to him and he doesn't. Start til the end of January yeah that's right some kind of personal commitment well done to them I think that's that's a brilliant brilliant appointment well done to proceed as well no transfer. To transfer is already grinding out here so it means we. Share your cliche and sound of fact I. Saw it a bit. On the sound effects. About that. Few shaken heads around it anyway few deals already start to come through Wigan of let Max fact max power complete a permanent move to Sunderland he's been on loan there since August they've also recalled striker Jamie Walker from Peterborough still just in last 15 minutes announced 3 departures and a cannon goes to Portsmouth after making 60 appearances for daily season Sam Hart returns to his parent club Blackburn and goalkeeper Brendan Moore's return to the USA said he want to go home. I guess he felt homesick his contract being terminated by mutual consent and speaking of the us are completely non-locally related one but they're Christian. The money's already started to change as 53000000 pound as our latest change our call an absolute bargain 53000000 how well you'd think so but yeah but he's been alone back as well to rush it on to the end of the season so. It's not one of the ripple to other teams he was linked with Jack thank you very much brilliant Happy New Year to you.
