Retailers have been scrambling to keep up with an insatiable demand for inflatable swimming pools - this after South Africans were banned from cooling off at beaches during the peak summer season.
To curb the devastating second wave of Covid infections, government declared beaches in the Eastern Cape and the Garden Route out of bounds since 16 December, with those in KwaZulu-Natal closed on public holidays during the month. But since 29 December, all beaches – apart from the Northern Cape – were closed as part of the country’s return to an adjusted Level 3
