Students create group chat to document rabbit sightings around campus Rabbit sightings across campus have sparked students to share pictures and videos in a GroupeMe chat, amassing over 230 members. The chat, “nu bunny watching,” was created by Medill freshman Frankie Lucco in April. Even though the chat originally started as Lucco and a few friends, it soon became a larger group of students sharing sightings of bunnies on campus, she said. Students Organizing for Labor Rights has raised over $90,000 for over 400 workers since March 2020, according to Weinberg junior and SOLR member Abbey Zhu. SOLR, a community organization of Northwestern students building solidarity with campus workers, started their mutual aid fund last March to support Northwestern dining and hospitality workers during the pandemic. As of mid-April, Illinois residents over 16 are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, and Northwestern is prioritizing students for first-dose appointments. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has also revised guidelines for fully vaccinated individuals on masking, social distancing and quarantining. NU has not revised its COVID-19 guidelines for fully vaccinated students nor has it announced a vaccination requirement for Fall 2021.
