A Twin Cities mother says a bonding method called Kangaroo Care helped her daughter, who was born at fewer than 2 pounds, recover in the NICU. It's a method more doctors are recommending for all mothers and children.
(FOX 9) - There’s a special bond between a parent and baby, but for a first time Twin Cities mom, a unique closeness has made all the difference after some health scares for both mother and child. 
For the past three months, Heather Kinney and her newborn daughter Lucy were at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis since the girl was born 14 weeks early weighing less than two pounds.

    MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A baby so small when he was born it wasn’t clear if he’d make it or not, Baby Richard was born weighing less than one pound. But thanks to the team at Children’s Minnesota, he has a triumphant story to tell.
Beth Hutchinson of Hudson sat in a park holding her smiling baby, telling WCCO, “We had both hoped our first would be a boy.”
But the way Baby Richard’s birth unfolded was something they never would have wished for to happen.

(MINNEAPOLIS) — When Richard Hutchinson was born, he was small enough to fit in the palm of a hand.
“I didn’t know what it would mean for him,” mom Elizabeth Hutchinson said. “If he would be OK, if he would be able to make it. There were a lot of tears and a lot of prayers. We didn’t want to give up.”
