Dies in Dundas in January 2024

Virginia “Ginny” L. Baldwin, 84, of Lewiston and formerly of Pullman and Colfax, passed away Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, at Whitman Hospital and Medical Center in Colfax.

John Buckledee, who was editor of the Comet from 1977-1983, and a reporter at the Stevenage Pictorial from 1961-1963, has reflected on his time at the paper.

"I remember dancing in the aisles and the electric atmosphere. Amazing how I still remember, I must have been five years old. The line up for a pop show at the Gaumont (now the Regent) Theatre Ipswich pose on stage in February 1966. Included are Gene Pitney, and the band Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick, and Titch - Credit: Archant Pauline Catchpole also saw the band. She said: "I saw Gerry. I waited outside in the Gaumont car park, then a few minutes later his car came out. He opened the window  and I kissed him on the cheek. I still smile at what I did."
