More americans are fighting just to hold on to what weve got because if incomes are growing, its not as fast as the cost of Prescription Drugs and saving for retirement, housing and education. And thats when the numbers on a page are looking good. Now that were starting to see a downturn coming out of the manufacturing sector, it just demonstrates how out of touch the president is and how destructive his policies have been. Hes managed to hang on, tack on an extra couple years to the obama recovery. That might be good news, but now were in a very precarious position as an economy and as a country, especially in places like the industrial midwest. Mayor pete, thank you so much for joining us. Mayor Pete Buttigieg of south bend, indiana. Reminder, mayor pete is at the 2020 Gun Safety Forum in las vegas. The forum pres ....

Executive privilege, right? we don t know how cooperative sondland s going to be. he s indicating he wants to be cooperative. he s also indicated he won t hand over text messages or e-mails and direct conversations with the president. if he does have state department counsel with him, they may prevent him from answering that question. and remember, the red line of the white house has always put down is for these testimony to take place, they want to have counsel present. now, we don t know if that s true with fiona hill. fiona is of course a former. still haven t gotten to whether mar marie how wide does executive privilege here, as both hans and garrett brought up, how wide does it apply to both sondland s testimony along with fiona hill s that s going on now? it s up to the president to do so but it s not absolute. you know, as we learned in the supreme court decision involving president nixon, executive privilege cannot be used as a ....

Of the u.s. capitol here. the white house put out some talking points that they mistakenly sent to democratic offices and we were able to read them. a lot of the talking points spoke to process. adam schiff would bring up the ambassador here without a state department counsel. she might say things that are privileged and he will run rough shot over long standing tradition and protocol. nothing has spoke to the underlying argument. that is the president, so goes the democratic argument, risked the national security in undermining the integrity of our elections by inviting foreign interference in an election. you don t see any rebuttal in talking points that the white house put out today. susan, i m curious too, the politics of this week reaction from the president s own party from republicans. there was the initial revelation of the call itself, the transcript that came out. ....

Least officials i m talking to, whether or not yovanovitch is cooperating in that deposition or whether or not she s deferring all questions to counsel. it was unclear whether she had state department counsel with her. remember, the white house s position is that unless state department counsel, lawyers are present with state department officials, they should not be testifying. so the white house is flying blind in as many ways as we are here. i think another important thing on sunderland s potential testimony is the white house almost reads it differently. i m going to put up the statement here. to dispute or question about what is meant by notwithstanding. here it is. it says notwithstanding the state department s current direction to not testify, ambassador sunderland will honor the committee s subpoena. we read that as that was sond land defying the white house, going ahead and strongly signaling that he would testify regardless of what the white house said. i talked to one white h ....

State mike fuchs. what is the significance of the president of the united states? there s significance on two front. the fact the ambassador was here at all is itself significant. it was an open question of whether or not she would show up. when you saw her make her way in, she was accompanied by her outside legal team, not a state department counsel, not a state department lawyer. so the fact that she is testifying despite this white house edict that no one comply with this impeachment inquiry is hugely significant and it could open the flood gates for current and former officials to do just what she s doing today. the substance of her testimony is also significant because she paints a picture of her departure being the direct result of president trump himself putting pressure on the ....
