Human rights groups are calling for the release of a Saudi woman, who they say has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for supporting women’s rights and for the way she dressed.
Saudi authorities must immediately and unconditionally release Manahel al-Otaibi and all those currently detained in the kingdom for the peaceful exercise of their human rights.
For years, the Kingdom has arrested women’s rights activists who campaigned to end the male guardianship system.
While Personal Statement Laws tell women to obey their husbands "in a reasonable manner", 40 per cent of digital entrepreneurs in Saudi Arabia are women
