The 37-year-old unnamed tourist from Eindhoven was left seriously injured after the incident that took place at around 9.30pm on May 13 in the Belgian town of Stavelot, in Wallonia. He died on May 18.

A parade was scheduled for the morning of Saturday, Dec. 16, 1944, for members of 1st Battalion, 109th Infantry Regiment, 28th Infantry Division in Diekirch, a small town in Luxembourg.  The division had been sent to the area for some welcome rest and refit after continuous fighting in the months since the D-Day invasion in June of that year. First Lt. James Christy remembered the day.

A 37-year-old man from Eindhoven, who was critically injured after a boules ball in a fire pit exploded last Saturday, died of his injuries on Thursday, the family reported in a statement in the Eindhovens Dagblad. "We are shocked by the sudden death. He will be greatly missed," the family told the newspaper.

While the exact circumstances are being investigated, initial reports said the petanque ball was either in or under a fire pit when it exploded due to the heat in Belgium.
