Mourning troubled talent Nicky Booth
Mourning Nicky Booth Matt Bozeat on the life and death of a troubled talent, Nicky Booth THE troubled life of Nicky Booth, the former British and Commonwealth bantamweight champion, came to an end last week (January 13). He was 40 years old. Former manager Mike Shinfield broke the news on Facebook. He said Booth died of “liver problems and cellulitis” at the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham. Booth had battled addiction for years and was sentenced to six months in prison in 2004 after he was convicted of robbery and burglary, crimes committed to pay for his crack cocaine addiction. By Donald “Braveheart” Stewart It is sobering to realize that of my first two articles about individual boxers for Ringside Report in 2021 they have both been to celebrate the life of boxers who have passed away. The pandemic has got grip of us but from both of these boxers it was not COVID-19 that did for them as far as I am led to believe. Last time out it was an American world champion, this week former British and Commonwealth champion, Nicky Booth 17-5-1, 7 KO’s, who has lost his life. In the end, I believe it was liver failure that got him.
