I would like to play them for everyone because i am thoroughly confused. i do believe the supreme court should step in. obviously, this is totally unprecedented and it is dangerous to the system i think the justices on the court, i think they are deeply concerned about that as we are. i think they will set this straight. but it is going to take a while. you are right. the process takes a while to play out. this will be overturned but it will just take time to do it. the chief justice won t meet with the head of the senate judiciary committee because you know, optics. but somehow these justices are having conversations with the speaker of the house about a case, please, make it make since. this is stressing me out. how is this okay and when of the democrats going to march up to the supreme court and knock on the door and say, we are going to have this discussion right now? standing on virtue or being on mount olympus the day after ....

In the aftermath of the conviction, the majority of the party lined up behind him to attack the judicial system. take mike johnson. he s second in line for the presidency. he called the verdict absurd and said his friends on the supreme court should overturn the conviction. i believe the supreme court should step in. this is dangerous to our system. the justices on the court, i know many of them personally, i think they are concerned about that. i think they will set this straight. mike johnson is saying, and i think this is important to repeat. i know these guys and they are on our team and they will set things straight. then there was a congressman who said this. what is your reaction. to respect what the jurors had to say? no, i don t. ....

Concerned about that as we are. so i think they will set this straight. there ve only been two times in trump s political career where that dynamic of republican unanimity was broken. where trump was near political death. one was in the aftermath of january 6, the violent assault on the capital that he stirred up. when everyone was criticizing him. when the blood was still on the floor of the capital, including lindsey graham and kevin mccarthy, remember that? trump s approval rating drop below 40%, the lowest level in his reach. mitch mcconnell was testing the waters for a vote for an impeachment conviction. if it had not been for that man, mitch mcconnell s abject, enduringly pathetic cowardice, and mccarthy s relentless quest to have the third shortest speakership in history, not to mention the legitimate fear that republican senators had for their families about violence, we would not have this issue now. they could ve just voted to convict him and bar him from future office. don ....

But if i had to pick one response that is worth paying particularly close attention to, it would be this comment from the country s highest ranking republican. i do believe the supreme court should step in, obviously. this is totally unprecedented. people have to believe that justice is fair, that there is equal justice under law. they don t see that right now. and i think the justices on the court, i know many of them personally. i think they are is deeply concerned about that as we are. i think they will set this straight, but it is going to take a while. okay, set aside a moment that very questionable bit about speaker johnson claiming to have a personal relationship with presumably the conservatives on the high court. the speaker of the house is saying that the supreme court should step in and overturn donald trump s conviction. can they do that? can the supreme court upend justice here? well, to answer that question we have to talk about what comes next for the convicted forme ....
