Stroke-related deaths could rise despite drop in prevalence rate – dpa international
Research published in the journal Neurology in mid-May shows that although the number of stroke-related deaths worldwide has increased significantly over the past three decades, the number of strokes per 100,000 people has fallen. The increase in the number of deaths, from 2 million in 1990 to 3 million by 2019, can partly be linked to population growth, according to the researchers. The world's population increased from almost 5.3 billion in 1990 to over 7.7 billion in 2019.
