A GROUP of women have saved Christmas for more than 100 families in Wrexham.
Using a town centre salon as a base of operations, the five women have collected and distributed gifts and treats to children and young people whose families have been hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
It all started when Claire Gillanders went to The Entertainer toy store in Wrexham on the day coronavirus restrictions were brought forward, meaning many families waiting to do their shopping after their final payday of the year.

A Wrexham resident has set up a Facebook group to help vulnerable families affected by the recent lockdown restrictions.
Claire Gillanders, pictured on the right, decided to set the group up after learning of the lockdown news and quickly garnered over 1700 likes and hundreds of responses from the Wrexham community.
Within two days Claire and her team, made up of Sue Kearns, Daisy Parker, Melissa Bonner and Danni Pritchard as well as others, received numerous products and vouchers at the Studio Hair drop-off point and have been busy delivering them to families in need.
