three men and one woman just south of atlanta yesterday morning. the circumstances surrounding the shooting are still unclear, and police have not identified a motive. cnn national security analyst juliette kayyem joins us now. juliette, sounds like a pretty tense encounter between the suspect, who was on the run, it looks like, and these officers. as the sheriff was just saying a few moments ago, the monster is dead. they wanted to get this guy. >> yeah. so this has been -- we've been monitoring this not on-air but for the last 24 hours because this was a mass shooting. four people dead. the motive is unknown. so unknown how they knew the perpetrator was and who they were looking for. the killings took place in a subdivision. the victims all appeared to have known each other. so this wasn't some randomness. they probably had a pretty good sense of who they were looking for and then ultimately found him. i think these are like the

the gunmen took off. jonathan siri is alive in the lancet with the very latest. >> hi arthel hampton is in henry county a spokesperson for the county confirmed to associated press that four people have died in what authorities are describing as an active shooter incident. authorities say the shooting began around 10:45 a.m. this morning and dogwood lakes which is a subdivision in hampton again hampton a small city of about 8000 people located about 30 miles to the south of atlanta. as late as mid afternoon police were saying the suspect was still at large were urging the general public to avoid the area. we do expect police to release more details once the news conference gets underway. originally scheduled for 3:00 p.m. eastern this afternoon parade then pushed back to 4:00 p.m. and as you can see we are still awaiting authorities to arrive at the podium.
