The total value of subsidence payouts, at £54 million, jumped by 21% compared with the second quarter of 2022, the ABI said.
The latest figures from the Association of British Insurers reveal that £782m was paid out in home insurance claims in the second quarter of 2023.
As per the Ministry of Coal’s website, there is a problem of subsidence in the Jharia coalfields, which has been blamed on ‘unscientific mining carried out by the erstwhile mine owners over more than 200 years of operations prior to nationalisation’.
