Summit County reported 151 new cases and one hospitalization due to the novel coronavirus in the past week, according to the county’s coronavirus webpage. A total of 2,611 Summit County residents have gotten the virus since the beginning of the pandemic and 69 residents have been hospitalized since March 5. Despite an overall decrease in incidence rate statewide, Summit County numbers have been increasing, along with the rest of the resort region. Junior Olyvia Snyder picked up where she left during the 2020 high school season, as the 2020 slalom state champion won the Copper Mountain slalom competition on Wednesday, ahead of fellow Tiger teammates Paige Peterson (third place) and Victoria Uglyar (seventh). Approaching one year since schools shut down due to the pandemic, Summit School District officials are starting to see how remote learning impacted education. Last week, the Colorado Department of Education released graduation, completion and dropout statistics for all public schools across Colorado. According to the data, the four-year graduation rate for the district after the 2019-20 school year was at 90.4%, a drop of 4.7% from the 2018-19 school year.
