Years ago, in my hometown of Portland, Ore,, I immersed myself in local and state politics, and watched the “sausage” get made as a lobbyist in the Oregon State Legislature. I was appalled at the often-questionable actions taking place behind closed doors. A state senator once told me he wouldn’t consider a bill to reduce diesel pollution on school buses because the Big Oil lobbyist “got here first.” ....
Residential communities? i think that s true. after seeing the impact of dark money firsthand, she was determined to find back. in march of 2018, she got together with other local officials at tempe city hall and led a successful bipartisan evident to get dark money out of her city s elections. so you were able to do something that not many people have done across this country, which is you have legislated or mandated the disclosure of dark money in tempe. we call it the sunshine ordinance because it was about transparency. i worked on a working group with the mayor and another council member. this is something the entire counsel supported. we voted unanimously to put it on the ballot. that s when our citizens supported it by 91.44%. that s enormous. it was an unbelievable statement that voters want to be informed. they want to know who is behind the messages they see on tv and in the mailers. they want to know who is trying to influence their elections. after passing the ....
