Anne Trevett received the honour during a ceremony at County Hall in Trowbridge on Monday, April 12. The medal was presented by Sarah Rose Troughton, the Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire. Anne said: “I am pleased and honoured to be recognised in this way. Working with Safer and Supportive Salisbury and Lower Bemerton is very much a team effort, and we are pleased that we have been able to make a positive difference to local people through this difficult past twelve months.” Anne has supported Mencap locally for 20 years and been a trustee of the charity as well as supporting the community of Lower Bemerton – organising events and supporting the St John’s Place community centre. ....
THE Uplifting and also tragic personal stories from people across Salisbury are told in a new booklet. Salisbury Covid Stories: The experiences of Salisbury people during the Covid 19 pandemic 2020 brings together stories from across Salisbury of the experience of lockdown. Editor Anne Trevett, the chair of Safer and Supportive Salisbury, who has put the booklet together, said: “ Yes, we were all in it together when the lockdown came. But each one of us experienced it in our own way. “Each of these stories from Salisbury people reflects a personal experience, some tragic, some everyday and some uplifting. The 29 stories in the book include a piece by Councillor John Walsh on being the mayor of Salisbury during lockdown, stories of grief and loss, stories from those who volunteered to provide help and others on the creative ways that people used to fill their time. ....
A LOWER Bemerton resident has been recognised in the Queen s New Year s Honours for services to community in Salisbury duing Covid-19. Anne Trevett was made a Medalist of the Order of the British Empire (BEM) for services to the community in Salisbury during Covid-19. The 82-year-old admits she was “a bit embarrassed” to get the honour for her efforts during the pandemic and says it was a “team effort” but she feels it is also a reflection of her community work over the years in Lower Bemerton and Salisbury. “I feel pleased and honoured of course but very pleased that the work and community have been recognised,” said Anne. ....
