Mounting a Frans Hals exhibition a Frans Hals exhibition of this size and with so many masterpieces in the Rijksmuseum, says head director Taco Dibbits. The Amsterdam Museum is dedicating a major exhibition to Hals (1582/1584-1666) for the first time, with 48 paintings from his art career containing more than two hundred works. "You can't do this often. The works are not always loaned out."
The Franz Hals painting is believed to have been stolen by the same crew who in 2020 stole a Van Gogh from the Singer Laren Museum
Rijksmuseum director Taco Dibbets makes an open call for the return of a Frans Hals painting just days ahead of major show.
Rembrant's life-size paintings of Marten Soolmans and Oopjen Coppit will soon be sent to Paris, where they will be put on display at the Louvre for five years. The two-meter tall portraits have been at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam for the past five years. The Rijksmuseum will first examine the portraits in their restoration studio before sending them to France. "They can be seen in the Louvre from February 21, after which they can be admired again by the public in the Rijksmuseum from 2029." the Amsterdam museum said.
