Happy that, you know, a lot of people survived because, you know, it wasn t looking good for them folks on that plane, for sure. when you let s talk a little bit about that orange dust again. does it dust or did it appear to be an explosion? because there wasn t a fire at first as you said, right? because that orange dust it was, you know, it was i mean, the noises that we heard sounded like a plane hitting the ground and just, you know, the sound of a plane just crashing in to the ground and we didn t hear a distinct bomb go off or anything like that. as far as i could tell, you know, it was just the plane impacting the ground and every time the wind hit or when the tail hit and then the nose hit, ....
again, i think that s a testament to how great an airplane bog makes. jamie: before that tail hit, is there any warn that this pilot might have had? what is the earliest. that s an interesting question, jamie. what we do know is that they were low. they were way too low, in order to land. and the question for for me and other pilots is, did they not realize they were that low, looking out the window? it s very apparent when you are very, very low to the airport, especially going into sfo because the water just jumps out at you there. but the other question is: if they were aware, was it something that they couldn t deal with? was there an engine problem? was there a flight control issue that would not allow them to get the airplane back up to the altitude they needed to be at? ....
People ask when they see an accident of this caliber, they think what was the weather right away. right. we know san francisco it often has overclassed overcast conditioned. right. but you ruled it out. that wasn t the issue today. they ll still put a report on it, but, you know, don, hour by hour, they couldn t have been better. sky conditions, visibility, unlimited ceilings and light winds. it seems like, don, it also created a situation where you had eyewitnesss, you heard them earlier, who were able to get a clear view whether it was someone who was in a hotel room nearby, whether it was somebody else who we talked to that was in a plane on the tarmac, they were able to see the contact that took place yeah, those are the pictures. right there on the edge on the approach to that tarmac, to that runway for landing, that the tail hit. and you can see the debris field. yeah. and jim tillmon, well, he speaks much more profish aboabo ....
Hearing what the other eyewitness has said about how this plane spun round after the tail hit the ground, we can start to we won t we will not let me let s be absolutely blunt and clear. we will not know why this tail hit the end of the runway at the early stage that it did for many weeks, if not months, until the ntsb produces its first interim and then final report. but clearly what we can now see, of course, is the crownolohrono events as stated by eyewitnesss. you ve got to go back quite some time before you see, of course, previous incidents in the united states. the continental airline incident which happened in 2009 and 49 people died in that incident. but you re talking about major passenger jets, large scale, 200, 300-seat passenger jets, ....
