Austin Public Health (APH) is temporarily stopping the administration of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at Travis County’s largest vaccination hub.
“Austin Public Health has paused administration of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine pending the revue from the FDA,” said Dr. Mark Escott, Interim Health Authority at Austin Public Health.
APH typically gets 12,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine each week. Recently, it also started getting 1,000 dose shipments of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
“Luckily, the majority of the vaccine that Austin Public Health receives and administers is Moderna. So, we have a very small number of doses that we’ve given of Johnson & Johnson and that we have of Johnson & Johnson,” said Dr. Escott. ....
