Kumho Tire eyes expansion of Vietnam plant

South Korea’s Kumho Tire plans to invest $305 million to expand its plant in Vietnam.

The expansion, when completed in the first quarter of 2023, is expected to nearly double the plant’s capacity to 9.3 million tires a year. After considering our plans to increase exports to North America and potential U.S. anti-dumping duties, we came to the conclusion that increasing the capacity of the Vietnamese plant would be the best solution, a Kumho executive said.
HCMC-Moc Bai expressway construction to begin in 2023

Construction of the VND13.6 trillion ($587 million) HCMC- Moc Bai expressway is set to begin in 2023 and be completed in 2025.
Authorities in HCMC and Tay Ninh Province, where the Moc Bai Border Gate with Cambodia is located, are trying to complete procedures and the feasibility study this year. Compensation payments for land acquisition are expected to be completed next year so that the long-delayed project can begin construction in 2023.
The 53km expressway would run from Ring Road No.3 in the outlying district of Hoc Mon in HCMC to National Highway 22 at Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone in the southern province of Tay Ninh.

To their neighbors in Ho Chi Minh City, the sight of Gia Hung carrying his twin sibling Gia Lam on his back to school has become familiar over the last several years.
Nguyen Gia Hung and Nguyen Gia Lam are twins and 8th-grade students in District 10.
While Hung was born normal and healthy, Lam suffered from Tetralogy of Fallot, which is a birth defect that affects normal blood flow through the heart.

VOV.VN - As many as 11 people entering Vietnam were confirmed positive for the SARS-CoV-2-virus, raising the national tally of coronavirus infections to 2,648, the Ministry of Health reported on April 6.
Among the newly detected cases, there was an Indian expert and the remaining cases are all Vietnamese citizens, who entered the nation via Moc Bai international border gate in the southern province of Tay Ninh, and returned from the Philippines and Japan.
They are now being put into isolation to undergo COVID-19 treatment at local hospitals after they were confirmed to carry the virus.
Following the latest discovery, the overall number of imported cases rose to 1,045. The same day an additional six patients were released from hospital after making a full recovery from the virus, boosting total recoveries to 2,422 nationwide.
Jinyu Tire starts truck tire production at Vietnam plant
