"Imagine being a pregnant woman trying to get a healthcare appointment and not knowing if your driver will cancel on you for fear of breaking a law," a Lyft blog post reads.
Lyft said its new Driver Legal Defense Fund will cover 100% of legal fees and it will also donate $1 million to Planned Parenthood.
Lyft and Uber said on Friday that they would cover the legal fees of their drivers if they are sued for driving someone to a clinic to obtain an abortion.
