That cambridge analytica data scandal. that s the company that secretly gathered the personal data of millions of users. the british information commissioner s office has announced its biggest possible fine against the social media group which equals $664,000. the office accuses facebook of failing to safeguard people s information and not being transparent about how the data has harvested. facebook s chief privacy officer responded as we have said before, we should have done more to investigate claims about cambridge analytica and take action in 2015. we ve been working closely with the ico in its investigation of cambridge analytica just as we have with authorities in the u.s. and other countries. we re reviewing the report and will respond to the ico soon. on this side of the atlantic, the fbi and the federal trade commission and the securities and exchange commission are also investigating the data privacy scandal. joining us now to talk about this is washington post tech policy ....
