Ottawa earmarks $2.18M to assist temporary foreign workers affected by COVID

Ottawa has set aside $2.18 million to support and to assist temporary foreign workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a focus on the agricultural sector. Funded by the Government of Canada’s Temporary Foreign Worker Program, the sum has been awarded to KAIROS Canada, a social justice organization that includes 10 Canadian churches and religious organizations. It consists of Indigenous, settlers and newcomers in Canada.
