Kathleen Haff, Jaron Brandon, David Goldemberg Sonora, CA Monday will be the official changing of the guard for the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors. Outgoing board members John Gray, Sherri Brennan and Karl Rodefer took part in their final meeting this past Thursday, approving plans for the Terra Vi Lodge Yosemite. On Monday, new members Kathleen Haff, David Goldemberg and Jaron Brandon will be sworn into office. A special meeting is scheduled for noon in the board meeting room. Terra Vi Lodge Yosemite Sonora, CA – After a six hour meeting, Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to approve the Environmental Impact (EIR) Report for the Terra Vi Lodge Yosemite project with a limit on green house gas emissions. Most of the time was spent assessing possible EIR errors, and several hours of public comments, many against and some in support of the project. The Terra Vi Lodge Yosemite project plans to construct 140 guest rooms, 25 cabins, a market, and a lodge near the intersection of Highway 120 and Sawmill Mountain Road. There will also be employee housing, outdoor amenities, walkways and parking. It will spread across 64-acres at the intersection of Highway 120 and Sawmill Mountain Road approximately half way between the community of Buck Meadows and the Yosemite National Park entrance.

After nearly five hours of listening to callers, Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors walked away with no decision on the project that would construct 140 guest rooms, 25 cabins, a market, and a lodge near the intersection of Highway 120 and Sawmill Mountain Road. As earlier reported here, the planning commission approved the plans and it was appealed to the board. Those in favor of the new lodging praised its economic and tax boost for the area while those opposed voiced concerns of a lack of water, wildfire safety and traffic. However, it was the last caller that put the brakes on the board taking a vote.
Terra Vi Lodge Yosemite Sonora, CA An appeal over the Tuolumne County Planning Commission’s approval of the Terra Vi Lodge Yosemite will go before the board of supervisors. A special meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at 1pm. The planning commission approved plans for the resort at the intersection of Highway 120 and Sawmill Mountain Road on December 1st, but opponents filed an appeal to the supervisors. Around 40 members of the public spoke during the five-hour meeting. In the end, it was approved 6-1. The project calls for the construction of 140 guest rooms, 25 cabins, a market and a lodge. Two weeks ago the supervisors heard an appeal regarding another south county development project, the Yosemite Undercanvas. The supervisors supported, with a 5-0 vote, the planning commission’s earlier approval of the project.
