The Northwest Texas Annual Conference of United Methodist Churches started like a regular church service.

The United Methodist Church (UMC) is accelerating its moves to become more accepting of LGBTQ people, leading to more divisions within the denomination and more departures from the group.

As the fallout over the United Methodist Church's (UMC) embracing of LGBTQ policies continues, 31 more UMC-affiliated churches in western North Carolina are demanding they be allowed to immediately leave the denomination. The group of churches has also retained a legal firm to help them as they seek to leave their UMC conference. 

Two large Texas Methodist churches, including a megachurch located north of Houston, voted to disassociate themselves from the United Methodist Church (UMC) because of its ongoing debate over homosexuality.

My continuing walk as a “Christ-follower” has led me to overcome that “blind spot” in my Christian experience and to come to a new appreciation for the great opportunities afforded by the Liturgical Calendar for helping both believers and non-believers understand the foundational truths of the Christian faith.
