A major shopping centre and supermarket in Sydney have been exposed to coronavirus, forcing thousands into isolation. The Bankstown Central Shopping Centre, Thai Hung Supermarket at Marrickville and Service NSW centre in Bankstown have all been visited by coronavirus infected individuals, NSW Health announced Sunday evening. Anyone who attended the supermarket on Illawarra Road, Marrickville on December 31 between 3.45pm to 4.45pm must get tested immediately and self-isolate until a negative result is received. A handful of shops at the Bankstown Central Shopping Centre was visited by a coronavirus infected individual on January 6 and 8, prompting NSW Health to issue an alert for shoppers who visited those stores to get tested immediately and self-isolate until a negative result is received

The patient presented on Saturday and received a positive result last night and were transferred to Westmead Hospital. The Mount Druitt ED is now closed for cleaning and ambulances are being diverted to nearby hospitals, including Blacktown Hospital. The clean is expected to be completed by 9:00am today but there are doctors and nurses available in an ambulatory care space outside the ED for any patients who present directly.
