bill, 100,000 ohio families getting pensions restored. just this week brick layers got their pension money finally. we're working on the infrastructure bill. so much of what we've done in the first year and a half, everything from child tax credit to pensions to infrastructure to the c.h.i.p.s. act is all about implementation. my job is to help get them through the congress. i've been a leader on those things. my next job is to work with local communities, local businesses, local labor unions, government officials to implement infrastructure, the c.h.i.p.s. act, the p.a.c.t. act and working with veterans and all that . that's what i will do for the next year or two. not many people thinking about the 2024 election. i'll do my job. we'll see how that goes. >> senator sherrod brown of ohio, if i don't see you, happy holidays to you and you journalist wife. >> thank you. >> always a fan of the journalist wife out there. what happens if kevin mccarthy doesn't get 218 votes for speaker? i'll ask a new house republican if he would consider anyone else. that's ahead .

campaigned on this. why did it take 19 months, i know it is 50/50 hard senate math, but you are a mayor, a governor, a businessman before you came to washington. why couldn't the democrats figure out what do we need to strip away, why can't we just get at least pieces of this done and get to 50 a lot sooner than 19 months in and a lot sooner than three months before the election where maybe people don't see the results in time to give you credit? >> i think that president biden deserves credit for taking the time. again, i have a tremendous sense of urgency around climate change. this effort to climate rescue is long overdue. said, he got it d nobody else has. and in a 50/50 senate to look at -- if you look at all the things he's done, the bipartisan infrastructure bill, the p.a.c.t., act, you go down all these major initiatives, some bipartisan, some not, but most of them bipartisan, this is -- in the first two years with the 50/50 majority, people -- sort of like the economy. we have the greatest job numbers

legislative wins. let's discuss. here is the paradox. the dems now have a deal on the economic package. he will sign burn pits legislation to help veterans and their families next week. he will -- the senate passed and let sweden and finland to join nato. the chips bill passed with bipartisan support. a month or so ago the gun safety bill. that is an impressive list and yet if you look at biden's approval at this point in his presidency, it is historically low. lower than donald trump. he lost 40 seats plus in the house. lower than barack obama, he lost 63 seats in the house. what is it? >> i think people aren't giving him credit for these legislative wins because they are not feeling it. they are still getting hit in their pocketbook, still paying more for groceries and gasoline. an when people are not happy, they take it out on the incumbent party. in addition to those lists, they also passed the major infrastructure bill last year, they also passed the -- those

another, in case, as the woman said at the beginning of are your broadcast, that well, other countries are next. so, but it's important to keep in mind, yes, we're close to russia, but so was berlin during the entire cold war. it was in fact surrounded by the pact. so proximity to russia is not going to do much. we've been there since 1949 and the creation of nato. neil: of course, berlin was cut in two, right? >> well, the three sectors of berlin that were not under communist domination were surrounded by soviet troops, basically. so today berlin, interestingly enough and the capital of my country are exactly the same
