The Anum Traditional Council in Asuogyaman District has called on the government to construct a befitting monument in honour of the designer of the Ghana Flag, Theodosia Okoh, at Anum – her hometown.
The traditional council has bemoaned the failure by the state to erect a monument in the hometown of the late stateswoman as a remembrance of her contribution to national development.
Theodosia Salome Abena Kumea Asihene was born the 8th child of her parents, on 13 June 1922, in Effiduase, in the Gold Coast. Her father was Reverend Emmanuel Victor Asihene( the first black moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana) and her mother was Madam Dora Asihene. ....

Ghana celebrates 64 years of independence tomorrow


The Republic of Ghana, formerly known as Gold Coast will on Saturday, March 6, mark its 64
th anniversary after gaining its independence from British colonial rule.
This year, it will be devoid of the usual military and school parade due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Again, the annual celebration which is often held at the Independence Square will take place at the Jubilee House per the directives of the Office of the Presidency.
The national event scheduled to last about an hour will see President Akufo-Addo address the nation on the history of our motherland and the hope and vision our forefathers had for Ghana; the Black Star of hope for Africa. ....
