The Third Interim Report of the Twentieth Statewide Grand Jury, empaneled by Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, singled out for harsh criticism Duval County public schools and other urban school systems that have elected superintendents with the surgical precision the public has come to expect from Republicans when they seek to undermine public institutions that broadly assist minorities and people of modest means.
The report’s language is inflammatory, accusing urban public schools of chicanery and rashomonic (sic) duplicity, claiming they resemble a runaway stagecoach and comprise a circle of absurdity. The report s conclusion: Unless the heavy hand of conventional law enforcement is further aggrandized, stakeholders will abandon the school system in search of a more rational environment. ....
