AN adorable pet pooch showed she is the smartest in the pack as she found her own way home travelling at least four miles in eight hours. Pippa, a four-year-old Husky and Beagle cross, went missing in Belfairs woods after chasing deer and disappearing into the distance. The dog gave her owner, Allan O’Brien, the scare of his life, but the pet had a great time as she travelled four miles in freedom to her home in London Road, Leigh. None the wiser to the search party out looking for her, Pippa explored the park before using her keen sense of smell to sniff out her home.

THE GOVERNMENT must set a firm timetable for schools to re-open to avoid “yo-yoing” children around, leaders say.
