Despite efforts to improve financial transparency in Lansing, laws requiring disclosures may still be a long ways off in Michigan.
The senator speaks from experience. At one time he was the owner of a retail store in Monroe. It was around that time when Gov. Jennifer Granholm spearheaded a hefty hike in the state tobacco tax.
In 2020 the use of these products resulted in 2,800 hospitalizations for lung-related issues and 69 deaths in Michigan.
"No. None of that kind of thing will happen in an election year," said Democrat Sen. Rosemary Bayer.
