Portsmouth museum exhibit illustrates role of Hampton Roads waterways in the Underground Railroad
Typically we think of this escape route as overland. But it was more waterways, in part because the South was so battened down and didn't have a strong road and rail system. A historian discusses the issue and his work, the focus of an exhibit at the Portsmouth Art & Cultural Center.
