LUBBOCK, TX — Former San Angelo Police Chief Timothy R. Vasquez told the United States District of the Northern District of Texas on August 10 that he is appealing his conviction and sentence to the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Former San Angelo Chief of Police Tim Vasquez was sentenced to 15 ½ years in prison Friday, Aug. 5, 2022, for accepting bribes.
Timothy R. Vasquez was found guilty in March 2022 on one charge of bribery and three counts of honest services mail fraud.
"Law enforcement officers, particularly those in leadership positions, should be bastions of integrity. By accepting bribes, Mr. Vasquez defiled his badge," said U.S. Attorney Chad Meacham following the verdict.
