The Indian government has introduced mandatory quality norms for copper products, drums, and tin containers to reduce the import of sub-standard goods and promote domestic manufacturing. The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) issued two separate notifications, stating that items under these orders must bear the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) mark. The regulations will take effect six months from the date of publication.
