Parkesburg borough addresses resident's road concerns


Denise Reyes took Parkesburg Borough Council to task over the condition of North Street during the May 17 meeting on Zoom.
Reyes, who has been a Parkesburg resident since 2006, said the beginning of North Street up to Octorara Avenue was paved. However, the road in front of her neighbor’s home on 325 North St. to Culvert Street, is in disrepair.
“I usually don’t ask for anything, but it’s a mess,” Reyes said.
She told borough officials the unpaved road had knocked her car out of alignment, and her neighbor experienced a cracked oil pan. She has seen garbage disposal trucks maneuver slowly around humps on the road.

Planned Parkesburg retirement community changes ownership

Lindale Village, a 7-acre retirement community planned for 20 Beale Drive in Parkesburg, Chester County, will still be developed in Parkesburg, but under new ownership.

Historic Parkesburg hotel considered for rehabilitation shelter


Parkesburg Borough Council is exploring an idea from the Chester County Department of Community Development to turn the historic Parkesburg Arms Hotel at 415 W. First Ave. into a short-term rehabilitation shelter to assist up to 40 homeless county citizens.
Council President Sharon Wolf and Borough Manager Joe Reali said they recently met with Pat Bokovitz, director of the development department, and representatives from the agency Resources for Human Development, who are interested in renting the vacant historic hotel from owner Fred Gunther.
“I’m not opposed to it, but I have lots of questions,” council member Todd Brade said during the remote meeting.
