Parkesburg council looks to improve communications after some senior residents not notified of boil-water advisory

Parkesburg council member Rhett Lipscomb said on March 21 some residents were not notified of a boil water advisory issued by the Pennsylvania-American Water Company on March 12.

Parkesburg receives $208K as first installment of coronavirus relief funds

Parkesburg Borough received the first installment in coronavirus relief funding from the American Rescue Plan, officials announced during the July 19 council meeting.
Assistant Treasurer Amanda Gattuso said the borough deposited the initial $208,972 in relief funding July 14. The borough will receive the second payment in 12 months.
Disbursements of American Rescue Plan money to municipalities was determined by population data from the U.S. House Oversight Committee.
Mayor John Hagan II told council that Treasurer Peter Barsz suggested, during a recent budget meeting, that a separate account be created for better tracking of how the expenditures are being used.
âIâm fine with it being in a separate account,â Council President Sharon Wolf said.

Planned Parkesburg retirement community changes ownership

Lindale Village, a 7-acre retirement community planned for 20 Beale Drive in Parkesburg, Chester County, will still be developed in Parkesburg, but under new ownership.

Historic Parkesburg hotel considered for rehabilitation shelter

Parkesburg Borough Council is exploring an idea from the Chester County Department of Community Development to turn the historic Parkesburg Arms Hotel at 415 W. First Ave. into a short-term rehabilitation shelter to assist up to 40 homeless county citizens.
Council President Sharon Wolf and Borough Manager Joe Reali said they recently met with Pat Bokovitz, director of the development department, and representatives from the agency Resources for Human Development, who are interested in renting the vacant historic hotel from owner Fred Gunther.
âIâm not opposed to it, but I have lots of questions,â council member Todd Brade said during the remote meeting.
