National Night Out has been a Citywide Neighborhood Committee event for several years. This year, it's scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 2.
The man was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
He began his career in Portsmouth in 1990 and is lined up to replace retiring Chief Todd Germain later this summer.
