Singapore, Australia, France, and Sweden are witnessing an increasing volume of score reports from Indian TOEFL test takers and emerging as new destinations of interest, according to the Educational Testing Service (ETS).
There was a 53 per cent growth in Indian TOEFL test takers in 2021 compared to the previous year. In 2022, the number of test takers saw a 59 per cent rise over 2021.
The interest in the test is no longer limited to the US or UK, with countries like Singapore, Australia, France, and Sweden also receiving an increased volume of score reports from Indian test takers. Changes to the TOEFL test, including a shorter duration, have made it more user-friendly.
TOEFL will now have a new, more modern 'Writing for an Academic Discussion' task, which will replace the previous independent writing task. The reading section has also been shortened and all unscored test questions have also been removed.
