The flashbacks throughout each episode endeavour to show us the struggles the Unsinkable Eight faced in the lives they’re stranded from. From drug dealing, to suicide, to sexual repression and assault, to carrying burdens meant for those much older, and scandalous affairs with older men- the flashbacks bolster the show’s central tenet surmised perfectly in a line from the opening scene. “So, if we’re talking about what happened out there? All who had read Enid Blyton’s many adventure stories of children managing exceedingly well on deserted islands were in for a huge shock at how quickly things got ugly on the deserted island in Golding’s 1954 novel. ....
On Friday, December 11, Amazon Prime premiered The Wilds, a new series in which a self-proclaimed feminist leaves teenage girls abandoned on an island to fend for themselves, Lord of the Flies-style. The feminist, a scientist named Gretchen Klein (Rachel Griffiths), believes that she can create a gynotopia free of male domination. Unfortunately for the girls, Klein did not let them in on her planned experiment. She and her team tricked them into getting on a plane for a retreat to Hawaii, then drugged them and left them on the deserted island instead. Since this is 2020, the series includes all the usual tiresome and bigoted clichés that feverishly exist in the left-wing mind. There is a pretty blonde evangelical Christian girl from Texas named Shelby Goodkind (Mia Healey) who is secretly harboring homosexual desires. Religious believers who do not celebrate all things LGBT ....

There s never been a more appropriate way to end a jaw-dropping season than that quote at the end of Amazon s addictive YA drama delivered such a WTF moment at the end of season 1 that the line said by Leah (Sarah Pidgeon) is exactly what viewers were thinking as she discovers surveillance footage of an all-male group called the Twilight of Adam going through exactly what she just survived with the Dawn of Eve. And that s just in the present-day storyline! The Wilds spent all of season 1 following the Dawn of Eve girls as they were stranded on a deserted island for the first 23 days in the past as well as their interrogation in the present after their rescue (which we, of course, know is fake, orchestrated by a shady research group).
