Lincoln Gibson is heading to state after winning an oratorical contest
Topekan Lincoln Gibson won the 2021 American Legion Department of Kansas 1st District Oratorical Contest and is heading to state. Gibson, a home-schooled senior, grabbed the top spot with his speech called "U.S Constitution: Who." Contestants gave one prepared oration and one randomly assigned oration on a constitutional topic. He won $300 for first place with Jonathan Knapp, a sophomore at Aletheia Academy in Seneca, winning $200 for a second-place finish in the American Legion Department of Kansas' 1st District, which is comprised of Atchison, Brown, Doniphan, Jackson, Jefferson, ...
