Community Arts Center awarded EITC funds from PPL Electric Utilities | News, Sports, Jobs

WILLIAMSPORT – The Community Arts Center is pleased to announce it is the recipient of $5000 from PPL Electric Utilities through the Pennsylvania Education Improvement Tax Credit program (EITC). The contribution will be used to support the Educational Series program at the CAC.
For 25 years the Community Arts Center has offered student-centered shows within the Family Series, Educational Series and Student Summer Stock programs, thanks in large part to the vital support of the business community.
“PPL Foundation is pleased to support the Community Arts Center and its Educational Series which reaches 10,000 students and 9 school districts. The arts are essential to creating well rounded individuals and PPL realizes this is especially important today,” said Tracie Witter, PPL Regional Affairs Director. ....

PPL’s Cover to Cover program recently paid a visit to the Lock Haven YMCA Susquehanna Ave Childcare site with free books for Pre-K students. Cover to Cover started in 2016 to provide elementary school students with books to help them maintain their reading skills over the summer. The COVID-19 pandemic shifted book distribution to Pre-K facilities this year.
WVIA public television assisted remotely with students learning about various animal habitats, completing an activity, and receiving a visit from Clifford the Big Red Dog, part of the WVIA programming lineup. To date, the PPL Cover to Cover program has reached about 8,500 students and distributed 33,000 books in over 25 schools in its service area in central and eastern Pennsylvania. ....

PPL makes EITC donation to Penn College NOW program


Williamsport, Pa. – PPL Electric Utilities has donated $8,000 to the Penn College NOW dual enrollment program at the Pennsylvania College of Technology. The donation is being made through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC).
Penn College NOW enables academically qualified high school and career technology center students to take tuition-free courses for college credit. Last year, 1,700 students earned more than 6,800 credits valued at more than $3.8 million through Penn College NOW.
“PPL is a longtime supporter of hands-on technology education, and this most recent gift continues to exemplify that commitment,” said Elizabeth A. Biddle, director of corporate relations for Penn College. “We thank PPL for the generous support to help deliver a program that engages high school students in education that leads to viable and successful careers in a variety of industries.” ....
