Vicar raises funds for vaccines in poor countries 
King’s Lynn vicar Rev Becca Rogers has set up a fundraising campaign to help people in low-income countries access the Covid vaccine.
Rev Rogers writes: “I heard in a recent news report the director-general of the World Health Organisation warning of a catastrophic moral failure . He warned that in the scramble for the vaccine, poorer countries were missing out. I looked into this more and discovered that just 14 per cent of countries owned 53 per cent of available vaccines,” explains Becca.
 
“I started discussing this with others locally, over Facebook. One friend said: I would happily pay for my vaccine as I m fortunate enough to be able do so , and the idea sprang from there. We could ask people to consider donating when they receive their vaccine, or in thanks for someone close to them receiving it. ....

Plans are afoot for a Men s Shed in Gorleston, to bring men together to engage in practical activities and to reduce loneliness and isolation.
Research has shown that loneliness and isolation can be as hazardous to our health as obesity and excessive smoking. Surveys from mental health charities are finding that millions of people report feeling lonely on a daily basis.
 
Men s Sheds are similar to garden sheds a place to pursue practical interests at leisure, to practise skills and enjoy making and mending. The difference is that garden sheds and their activities are often solitary in nature while Men s Sheds are the opposite. ....

Tributes to N Norfolk teacher and lay minister 
Tributes have been paid to lay minister Sue Ling, a retired teacher and musician from Mundesley, who has died aged 83.
Mrs Ling, then Miss Boagey, was born and brought up in London and spent war years as an evacuee in Newent, Gloucestershire. She played the piano and violin in orchestras and competitions, even travelling to the Netherlands to perform. She attended Clapham County School for Girls, where she was a prefect, captain of games and captained tennis, rounders, and hockey teams.
 
When she was 18, she moved to Norfolk to train as a music specials teacher at Keswick Hall College, and her first job was at Aylsham High School in 1957. In her early twenties she played the fiddle for the Kemps Men of Norwich Morris dancing group and took part in amateur dramatics in North Walsham. ....
