Under water. although it is a big issue there are reasons why the elt may not have given a reading. and david souci, there are questions about why the plane went up to 39,000 feet. that is within the range of this aircraft. does that tell you anything? well, it tells me again how unreliable the sources are, because they keep telling us one altitude and then another. i maintain they re getting this information from primary radar, not from secondary, so there is no transponder, nothing comes back and confirms that this is that aircraft at that altitude. explain to me the difference between primary and secondary radar? primary radar is just sending out a signal, it was designed to tell how fast something was coming at you and identify there was something out there coming at you. so that was a defense radar initially designed. the second radar has to do with the transponder. it receives the first ping from ....

Learning anything useful? i think they re learning a whole bunch of things. the first is we re ill equipped for this type of a disaster. you know, we ll start with the pingers. the pingers on the air frame are really designed to find things in shallow water. find the black box. not the airplane. and going down in deep water, we really need some other type of device on the plane. some other type of probably more like a transponder that lasts a long time so that they can search. it also teaches us a little bit about the search methodology when we re using underwater vehicles or other type of towed systems. i think there s some learning here, but you wouldn t say that it s a good thing. yeah, you re right. ill equipped with some of the technology. to add to that, the malaysians today hinted if the bluefin comes up empty again, it may have to get some additional auvs to go down there. is that a good idea? it s not a bad idea. ....

Kuala lumpur to ho chi minh. now, the turn is what the whole story was about. what was happening at 1:19 to 1:22 when the transponder gets shut off. and if it seems that the plane climbed to 39,000 feet and then we get this supposed descent over the straits of malacca, it just makes the whole event that much more bizarre and difficult to understand, wolf. and what about the failure of those four emergency locator transmitters like this one? what does that say to you? another extraordinary development seemingly inexplicable. the very tool that is supposed to tell people where the plane has had an accident or where there s been an impact, and now ....
