Arrowhead Innovation Fund invests in company creating new earlier Alzheimer's test

The Arrowhead Innovation Fund has announced an investment in TNeuroPharma, a company creating a new blood test to detect Alzheimer’s disease earlier. Founder and CEO Dr. Kristina Trujillo, a New Mexico State University alumna, said this technology also has the potential to lead to future treatment.
TNeuroPharma already has raised over $1.2 million and now AIF will be adding to their growth. Beto Pallares, AIF fund manager, said the early studies by TNeuroPharma have been exciting.
“We want to help the commercialization of this product – and the possible treatment – come to market as fast as possible,” Pallares said. ....

ARUP Announces Retirement of CEO Sherrie L. Perkins, Appointment of President Andy Theurer to Replace Her as CEO

SALT LAKE CITY, April 13, 2021 /PRNewswire/  ARUP Laboratories today announced the retirement of CEO Sherrie L. Perkins, MD, PhD, effective June 30, 2021. ARUP also announced that Andy Theurer, currently ARUP s president, has been appointed by the company s Board of Directors to become CEO with Perkins retirement.
Tracy George, MD, will replace Theurer as president and will retain her current position as ARUP s chief medical officer (CMO).
I am very grateful to Sherrie Perkins for her exceptional leadership as CEO and for her many other extraordinary contributions to ARUP and the University of Utah School of Medicine, said Peter E. Statement attributable to the Board of Directors of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry:
Over the past year, the COVID-19 pandemic has tested the limits of the laboratory medicine community s ingenuity and endurance. However, even as we have faced unprecedented challenges during this outbreak, our Asian and Asian American colleagues have been facing another outbreak: a surge of directed hostility and violence, fueled in part by xenophobic rhetoric around the coronavirus. It shouldn t have taken a shocking and deadly event to bring these circumstances to the level of attention and concern they have always deserved.
We are appalled and angered by the horrific acts committed in and around Atlanta on March 16, which took the lives of eight people, including six Asian American women. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of all the shooting victims. We are equally devastated by the ongoing racist attacks targeting the Asian American community that pre ....
